We have a lot of good players and a two great players, but the season, as it has the past two, may come down to an old fart in a booth; Dom Capers. Some like to say it's players not schemes. I think schemes may have had a little something to do with a couple of humiliating losses we've had in recent playoffs. If your great players are forced to turn their back on the enemy by the defensive genius than it's hard for them to make plays.

Capers may be the key to the season. If we get humiliated again by San Fran shouldn't TT think seriously of doing something early, like firing the guy?

Seriously? Haven't we been over this already with you?

The DC....that won us a Super Bowl with incredible schemes & innovative formations just 3 years ago, is now an "old fart" & over the hill. Ok....

My.... aren't we spoiled.

Huds last thread???

I'm as bad as anyone when it comes to playing armchair GM, but the same 10-second attention span that exists in the world today has infected some of our posters here.

People saw 3 or 4 plays from VY last week, and were immediately ready to fire every other QB on the roster not named Rodgers. But this week, fear and trepidation has set in after seeing his most recent game.

Seriously, if there was a way to score coaching and executive moves, I would invent a new kind of fantasy football.

I'm glad someone had the guts to say it. I wanted Capers fired after the 49ers playoff game. Or was it the Giants game the year before? Or the Cardinals playoff game? Or the game when we somehow couldn't hold the best running back in this millennium to -3 yards? Perhaps the Titans game last year? Well, my point is Capers is flaming bag of douche who oughta be collecting welfare and using food stamps, so that way I have even more reason to spit on him.

I've already drawn up a list of sure-fire, can't-miss replacements for his old blitz-happy non-genius ass. In order:

Ol' Robby "MICK FOLEY RIC FLAIR WOLFMAN" Ryan. He looks like really intimidating and crazy and stuff. His defenses with the Cowboys and the Browns were always so legendary! Oh, and if his brother gets fired, maybe he'll use his connections to bring him in as a special teams coach or something.

LOVIE!!! After Brett Favre retired, the Bears became my second favorite team because I believe in loving everyone. Loving? LOVIE! Why hasn't anyone hired this genius yet? Better yet he runs an entirely different scheme than Capersnick so we can fire his useless assistants and get rid of our even more useless 3-4 players in including Hawk, Raji, Hawk, Perry, Hawk, CM3, etc.

Greggario "Opie" Williams! We all know that bounty scandal was a myth and a conspiracy by Roger Goodell to screw over the city of New Orleans (TRIVIA: Did you know that Roger Goodell's daughter is named "Katrina?!") So we lost the most innovative coaching mind of this decade for a season! And even if there was a bounty? So what? I like the idea of having a team that goes out solely to injure people. I like the idea of having other teams get so po'd that they come out and take equal shots at trying to ruin Rodgers' career. This is a no-lose proposition folks.

And speaking of no-lose, I lost some respect for Mike Sherman when he fired Ed Donatell, the great defensive coordinator this team has seen since Ray Rhodes, for no reason; so why not bring back this heroic scapegoat?

Most of those guys are already employed, we could easily pluck them in a trade after cuts wind down.

Be nice to hud ewe guys. You'll be looking back at this thread later in the season and realize what a jeenyus he was.

It will be interesting on how the defense plays these first three weeks facing two read-option type QBs and a decent Cincy offense.

If we buy into the whole "need time to game plan" thing, Dom has had all offseason and the training camp to GP for the first two games.

If this unit get shredded you could argue a firing "to make a statement" could be in order going into the bye week.

Rusty, I want you as my defensive coordinator. That's the best defense I've had since my wife told her mother 25 years ago to go to hell, she was gonna marry me anyway, even if it looked like I'd never have two nickels to rub together. I've got two and I can prove it.

I'm a bad client though Rusty. The court of public opinion has already found me guilty on charges of wanting to fire one of the true geniuses of the game, the guy "who won us a Super Bowl." I'm the worst, Rusty, worse than a Viking or a Bear fan, I'm a knee jerker.

The greatest mind of our generation, Henry, even called me "an idiot."  Be afraid.

I blame the internet. Before it came along I was never able to read such whiny diatribes except in the feedback section of Ray Nitschke's Packer Report, and even then there would only be an occasional fire everyone post, even during the '70s & '80s. But I didn't care, that publication was my only source for Packer news because I live smack dab in Bear country. However the innerwebs has opened up a whole new way to gain access to spoiled whiny fans.

Suffice to say my opinion of many of my fellow Packer fans has gone down the toilet since the inception of the internet. Thanks alot Al Gore.

You're learning.  I think MM should fire TT.  You do know that MM has control over his staff?  ?   ?  ?   Who would you make DC after firing Dan Compers at the half of the first game?   Who?  Thoughts?

Mr. Hud:

I do not like to drink the Kool-Aid, but you need a couple of sips.  I was a big fan of Capers as I do like aggressive defenses, but I do understand the frustration specifically over the last couple of years.  To say "fire him" now or at anytime this season is extreme and you're just going to get slammed in here for saying that.  Actually, I think they're taking it easy on yah.  Anyway, I do not know what to expect this season.  I did like what I saw during the seahawk preseason game from the first and second units.  With this said, if the D gets embarrassed again by the 49ers, I assure you I will bitch about it, but I am not going to say fire Capers.

Well you certainly earned it...s'matter with you, did you get tired of the "fire TT chant" and switched to Dom this week ?

Yes, the enlightened court of opinion at x4 has determined that you are a knee-jerk, (emphasis on jerk) and that your tired tirades carry no merit. Own it

PS-  your mother- in- law was spot-on and your wife is looking for an out.
