Just for kicks, here's the Packer defenders who are gone from the 2021 team and their likely replacements for 2022. I didn't do Z cause he played so little

Kingsley Keke – Jarran Reed and Devonte Walker

Henry Black - Quay Walker, Sean Davis, Vernon Scott

Oren Burks - Quay Walker + Isiah McDuffie on STs

Kris Barnes -  some will go to Quay Walker, some he keeps

Chandon Sullivan – Rasul Douglas, Jaire Alexander, Darnell Savage

Tyler Lancaster  - TJ Slaton, Jarran Reed, maybe Ford too.

Kevin King –  Jaire Alexander ( sort of )
Isaac Yiadom – TBD

That's some damn good work by Gute & Co.

Go Packers

allegedly a knee injury. They might  bring him back.

nevermind.

I just read the blurb on Nate Becker - the TE they just signed off waivers from Beefalo

β€œI played quarterback my first two years of high school, and I was a late bloomer,” Becker told The Buffalo News. β€œGoing into my junior year when I finally shot up to my height and weight where I could put myself together, it was probably smart to move to tight end, and that’s what happened.

β€œI was kind of clumsy, awkward, hadn’t grown into myself yet,” Becker said. β€œI didn’t honestly play much varsity football at all until the playoffs of my senior year. I really only played about probably five, six games of high school where football truly mattered – where the game was tight and I was still in the game.”

At the RedHawks’ pro day before the 2019 draft, he measured 6-foot-5
and 258 pounds and ran his 40 in 5.10 seconds. He is a blocker, first and foremost.

β€œEven in high school, the tight end position I played, I was basically playing fullback,” he said. β€œI’d be in the backfield, leading the way for a running back. That helped me with my transition to Miami because that’s basically what I was doing there, especially since I was 265 pounds. I knew we were a running team, and I just wanted to be somebody the team could rely on to make a play to get our backs out in space.”

More blockers, please. We is going to run the mofo ball, girls and boys.

Agree.. we do this every year, worry over who we are going to lose from claims and cut down.

It's rare that our guys get claimed as other teams have their young guys that they want to keep as well.

McDuffie makes it on production, not because we fear losing him.   Van Lanen goes to PS,    Goodson goes to PS because Taylor is the better special teamer and knows the pass pro.

Found on the internet: The one player I actually hope they keep on the 53 is Caleb Jones. The others can be found elsewhere easily but there are not many 370 pound 6'9" Tackles. I realize he is indeed a project but in the run game? Holy crap give me some of that. He just moves other humans against their will. Even if you just put him in as a 6th linemen for goal line or 3rd and short?? A 250 pound back running behind a 370 Tackle should gain a yard.

Silverstein on Caleb Jones: Link (paywall)

Nobody felt 6-9, 370-pound Indiana tackle Caleb Jones was worth drafting even with the longest arms of any player at the NFL combine and three years of starting experience.

The Packers offered Jones a $5,000 signing bonus to join them as a free agent after the draft. For the months since then, Jones has trimmed down to somewhere in the 340-pound range and taken on the challenge of playing left tackle, a position at which he started just six games in college.

Jones has been surprisingly good on the edge despite not being a superior athlete, using his 86⅝-inch wingspan – which would have been the longest at the combine had he been invited – to stymie anyone who tries to get around him. His strength is below average based on combine standards – 18 reps in the bench – but he has been pretty stout against bull rushes during the first two preseason games.

He had a good week of practice in the joint workouts with the Saints and then played well Friday night.

β€œI feel like getting out of my set and being able to set stripe to stripe with whoever it is coming off the edge against me has given me one hell of an advantage because I’m already a bigger, taller, heavier offensive lineman,” Jones said. β€œSo, they don’t really know where to go. They don’t know whether to go inside or outside, commit to a bull rush or whatever.”

Scouts around the league will also notice that he helped cave in his side on zone fakes and is an imposing guy to run behind for running backs catching a screen pass. Jones has a lot more work to get his body in shape, but given the desire for tackle prospects, the Packers may not be able to let him go and expect to get him back on the practice squad.

Jones started working at right tackle this week, which might be a sign the Packers are preparing him to be a swing backup tackle.

" 86⅝-inch wingspan – which would have been the longest at the combine had he been invited – to stymie anyone who tries to get around him. His strength is below average based on combine standards – 18 reps in the bench – "

When your arms are that long,  you are not going to have a huge bench number.  This is why you see the short fat power lifters moving so much weight, limited range of motion.   I'm sure the man is plenty strong and I'll take the long arms at Tackle, put the power lifter at G or C.
