Next week we have a chance to win the division - with Detroit losing it against the Boys (PACK thereby becomes #4 seed).

But wait there is more! If all the stars continue to align perfectly for us - we have a mathematical chance to clinch the first round bye at the end of week 17 (and become #2 seed in the NFC) !

Path to #2 seed: Packers win out; Seahags and Atlanta lose both weeks

Gotta love the spam right in the MSN article Bart Mandude posted.

What?  I don't post spam

When you originally posted it, the word "running" (I think it was that one) was a link that redirected to Target.

I wasn't criticizing you; I just thought it was interesting that MSN had that sort of link in their articles.

I remember the bad old days of articles that had things double-underlined and you'd get some horrible pop-up text ad if you hovered over the link.  Terrible to have to play cat-and-mouse just to read a website.

lol, yeah those sites really used to suck.  Now they replaced those with subtle, sponsored articles like  "50 pictures from WW1 that will leave you speechless" and when you try to click the NEXT button the page jumps and you end up clicking on some other advertisement.

Packers are undefeated in Super Bowls played in Texas

Does that include the ones they didn't play in? I think that trend will continue this season.

I got us at third seed, playing Detroit at home in first found, NY at Falcons in first round, see G men beating Falcons in first round, going to Dallas and beating them. We have to go to Seattle and destroy them, thus hosting NFCCG in Lambeau AGAIN.

I care of two things this week and only two things.

Putting Minny's 5-0 start and Super Bowl thoughts of a season to an end.

The hap hap happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny ****ing Kaye!!!!

My God, that's 6 paragraphs of complete lunacy. There was no way the police were going to find little Pontrey Jr. anywhere else but lying naked in some nearby grass, right?

how important is a Bucs loss with what happened earlier?

If we dont take care of business in Detroit, what would we need

In the long run, Wolf', it's likely not too important. I; much like you, I suspect, will take any advantage over any other team that presents itself.
There can be some changes to the SOS percentage, but the overall outcome will likely remain the same. However, if the Bucs lose, it renders that moot.
The same for the 'Skins. They could wind up a half-game ahead/behind if we lose vs Detoilet, but, as others point out, we win and that's a moot point.

The Giants will clinch a playoff spot if the Saints beat the Buccaneers today. That means they won't have anything to play for against Washington next week. They'll be locked in at the #5 seed no matter what. Manning will be benched after the first quarter. The Packers will only make the playoffs if they win next week and take the division, it's that simple.

the way Im figuring things looking at Playoff Machine:

Aside from crazy scenarios, basically:

Win and we host Giants

Lose...then we would need Redskins to lose to Giants next week. Then we play @Seattle

That Seattle loss might be the biggest development for the Packers...Now if Atlanta wins, they get home field instead of Seattle. Which then likely means GB would go to Dallas in the 2nd round(as the 4 seed) and Seattle would have to travel to Atlanta in rd 2. I'd MUCH rather eventually have to go to Atlanta, then Seattle. I mean it could still happen, if Seattle won 2, but I'll take my chances of them getting knocked out on the road first. The ONLY way now the Packers can get anything other than the 4 seed(with a win) is if SF beats Seattle next week(not happening). Then the Pack would be the three seed, and Seattle the 4.

Green Bay could be 3, 4, or 6.

To get 3 - GB beats DET and SEA loses to SF
To get 4 - GB beats DET and SEA beats SF
To get 6 - GB loses to DET and WAS loses to NYG

Bottom line:

If NYG beats WAS, GB is in no matter what.
If WAS beats NYG, Packers need to beat DET.

It'd be pretty shocking if Washington lost at home to NY's backups next week. Buffalo once pissed away a WC spot by losing at home to Pittsburgh's backups in week 17 (in 2004), but it's very rare for a team in a clinching scenario like that to lose to backups.

Lions can be the 2nd seed or out of the playoffs. How strange is that?  Yep, Washington beats the Giants and Packers beat Lions, Lions go home.  If NY beats Washington, Lions beat Packers, Packers are the 6th seed and would play in Detroit again, just like 1993.  Can you say Rodgers to Jordy as in Favre to Sharpe?

The usual week 17 madness ! The best week of the season. Playoff seeding and or berths determined at the last second in some games. This 5 game winning streak has been awesome but it's going to be one heck of a dogfight in Detroit. Gotta win on sunday !
