Looks like the Aints claimed Callahan. There goes his career.

The Packers have lost QB Joe Callahan. Cut by Green Bay on Thursday, he has been claimed off waivers by the New Orleans Saints.

He'll be back.
Callahan won't be back. His first words to Rodgers were, "Hello, grandpa."
I guess I'm confused then....I was certain they had a deal worked out with him to keep him on the Practice Squad until another spot opened up OR at least through next Pre-Season to give him a full off-season of workouts and MM tutelage. (meaning that if another team came looking he would choose to stay in GB due to some financial considerations, etc.). I know it was only preseason, but the way he performed you almost certainly had to give him another look.
He didn't clear waivers.
Ok. So, once a player is on the 53, the only way to get to the PS is to be released and put on waivers FIRST? I thought they could go directly to the PS.
Smart move by the Saints. I see Brees traded before next season, and they need someone inexpensive with all the cap hell they're going through. Sad thing is I don't Callahan will get good coaching down there.
I don't know if it's the answer for sure, SDPF, but I think the kicker in this situation was the Packers released him thus exposing him to waivers.
NO potentially could have claimed him to put him on their PS as opposed to being required to sign him to their active roster is the way I 'read' it (Because he was waived).
My guess if the Saints made an offer while he was still on the 53 man roster, the Packers could have paid him more to keep him.
Here's some cursory info:
NFL Practice Squad Basics
Just checked the Saints roster, they have 53 listed on the active roster and 10 practice squad guys. Callahan is not listed anywhere, but maybe it is just not updated yet.
Callahan is on the Saints' active roster. Pretty sure he'd have to clear waivers to go on any practice squad (NO included).
Quite a crazy 2 months for Khalif Barnes. Signed bt the Saints on 8/30. Contract terminated on 9/3. Signed again by Saints on 9/28. Waived on 10/1. Signed again on 10/6. Released again on 10/14 to make room for Callahan. Talk about a revolving door on the Saints.
Good luck Sandlot Joe. He can make it in this league.
Welp. That didn't last long. I suspect GB will get him right back on the practice squad:
ESPN Staff Writer
The Saints waived rookie QB Joe Callahan Saturday, one week after claiming him off waivers from the Packers. They promoted DE Chris McCain from the practice squad to replace him. It's possible the Saints could try to bring Callahan back to their practice squad if another team doesn't claim him. However, he could sign with any practice squad he wants -- meaning he could opt to return to Green Bay if invited

Bears are desperate at QB. That wouldn't shock me.
Bears should trade for Romo. Mind blown.
Won't happen. Trade deadline is Nov. 1 and Romo won't even get a chance to play before that due to the Cowboys bye week on Oct. 30. No one will know if he is even healthy before that.
Looks like Callahan is back on the market. Saints Waive QB
Are you sure?
QB Joe Callahan is quite the hot commodity. Once with Packers and then Saints, he's headed to ... the Browns. They claimed him, source said.

Poor Joe!
Unless McCarthy is headed to the Browns to coach, can't see Sandlot Joe doing much in Cleveland.
Sounds like the Giants and Cards put a claim on him 1st time around. Joe will make it back to the promised land.
Pretty amazing story for a guy that was supposed to be just a camp arm.

Callahan needs the right offense. Can he get that from MM?
Shoot, he'll die there....... want him back here.
