See what happens when you become a Minnesota viking? You're either running over someone with your car, ruining a Lake Minnetonka cruise boat or defrauding people out of their welfare benefits. Was it worth it, Brent?

It’s a well known fact that his siblings Scott and Brandi were colossal POS and it’s not like Brett has been a Boy Scout either.

Still, this latest fraud situation might take the cake for scumbag behavior.

When has Favre ever been held accountable for anything? Everything seems to work out for him in the end no matter what. Everyone enables him.

The NFL suspends him for sending dick pics after he's already retired.

He knocked up his girlfriend when they both 19. He eventually married her, but not until he got to enjoy another 7 years after his daughter was born of being a single guy in college and the start to his NFL career.

He had his brother sign his "certified" autographed material and sell it for decades.

He almost got himself killed in college driving 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone (although he's changed the story about 5 times), missed a curve, lost 30 inches of intestines, and then was celebrated for coming back from the injury.

Many of us (including me) let him get away with about 9 years of crappy on-field decisions at the worst possible times (1999-2006) and a lack of working hard to stay in optimal shape because he won us a Super Bowl in January 1997.

I'm sure he'll probably get away with this too.

Probably the only time he's actually been checked is when Rodgers naively called him Grandpa and TT told him to go fly a kite.

What I'll never understand is someone with hundreds of millions of dollars feeling like they need even more money so decide it's a great idea to do shady shit to get it.

I guess I'll  have one thing that Favre will never have, enough.  He's a guy who's never going to be satisfied with what he has.  Good luck with that, Bert.

Brent is just damn lucky there weren’t smartphones back in the day.  He and Chewy and Frankie Donuts got into a lot of shit in northeast WI especially some of the bars in Appleton.

The whole damn family sounds like a train wreck.

Some legendary stories up in the Hayward area with them three as well.

Having worked for the government in the past for about 4 years, in public assistance, I can tell you it's almost criminal how easy it is to cheat the welfare/food stamps system.  There's not a lot of oversight, and millions of people cheat the system with no repercussions.  It's supposed to be there as a safety net, but I can tell you the percentage of people who use it for that purpose and then get off public assistance is less than 5%.  For most, it serves as a source of income and they stay on it for life.  They're not living extravagant lifestyles, but there's a certain level of existence many people are happy with as long as they don't have to work.  It's not a surprise that Bert has been getting away with this, but his behavior is nonetheless as disgusting or more so, than the millions of others who cheat the system because he's stealing from the poor and giving it to the rich on a grand scale - including himself.

It also makes me angry that the government has had such a lazzes faire attitude with public assistance funds for a long time.  For example, for decades, they've felt free to take from social security on a grand scale to fund other programs and have the gall to say they have to raise the age for social security or may even have to defund it in the future because there isn't enough money.

Anyway, I hope he ends up spending jail time for this, but he probably won't.  Makes me embarrassed to have his name associated with our team.

This is why I caution my kids, and grand kids to only get Packer gear, no need to get a players jersey, you never know how these things will end.

I'm named after Bart Starr. I feel pretty safe with that jersey.

The only two I have are Woodson and Rodgers.  Feel safe with both of those choices.  There are more I want - many more, but Favre is not on the list.  Never was.

My Wisconsin sports autographs collection consists of:

Starr

Canadeo (a childhood friend of my grandfather's in Chicago)

Hornung (who was lucky there weren't cell phones around)

Giannis

Kareem

An autographed baseball from the 1953 Milwaukee Braves (the year before Aaron, but still has Matthews, Spahn, Burdette)

I'd like to add Hank Aaron, Woodson, Middleton, Moncrief, Marques Johnson, and Holiday some day as well.

The paycheck protection plan and the emergency unemployment benefits make the rest look like child's play. Tens of billions are gone.

PS  Allegations are just that, so even Favre is innocent until proven guilty.

I have Bart Starr's signature on a letter.

I also have Dan Devine's on a letter.

My kids gave me a Favre jersey near the end of his time as a Packer. When he signed with the Suckqueens somebody was giving away a pair of Packer tickets if you turned in your jersey and that was your entry to win. Yep, even tho it was a gift from my daughters off it went.  So glad I never have to look at that again. The only jersey I have is Dorsey Levens.   Have a few autographs, Starr, Willie Wood, Chris Jacke, Jerry Kramer in 3 of his books, William Henderson.

My Dad was  a huge Favre fan...it was hard for me to explain how he handled the whole "retirement" thing. Then to the Jets and Queens. I just let it go because he was such a big fan...he passed in 2011 and all I do is remember the years Favre played and how much fun we had watching his playing style. Watching the Packers beat the Pats was SO much fun in the Superbowl!!...we didn't get to watch it together...I was in Michigan at the time and he was home in Illinois. We were VERY fortunate to watch Rodgers and the Pack beat the Steelers at our house in Illinois. Great night...will never forget the smiles and tears....great memories.  I know Favre is a POS.....but I try to look passed all that and just remember the good times....

That's quite the list, MP, that's awesome!  I don't have any autographs from anyone on the Packers, but my dad has the book "Run to Daylight" signed on the inside cover by Vince Lombardi.  I hope to have that someday.

True, DJ.  Government waste should be on the same list as death and taxes.

And yes, Bert is innocent until proven guilty.  This whole thing's a shame, because as others have said, I really liked him until a certain point, and will be forever grateful for what he did for the Packers.  I saw him as the savior of the franchise, and in many ways he was, along with Harlan and Wolf.  But I stopped admiring him after his will I retire or won't I routine, then deciding he wanted back in after we drafted AR, then the reports that came about regarding how he treated AR, then the move to the Queens, then the dick pics to someone other than his wife, etc.  None of us are perfect, but some are more likeable than others.  He stopped becoming likeable.  To me, anyway.

He will always be a Viking POS to me.

My list of autographs…..Willie Wood, Dave Robinson, Doug Hart, Bob Jeter, Willie Davis, Ray Nitschke, Max McGee, Bob Skoronski, Randy Wright. and  Barry Alvarez.  Can’t remember a few more names on a Packer football that I gave away to my god son.

Then he morphed into an asshole.
Now he appears to be a scumbag asshole.

That's a shame.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Odds are that Brett’s always been a bit of an asshole.

The stuff he got away with early in his life/career certainly seems to indicate that Bert thought he was beyond reproach even at a young age. I mean, he was born with the kind of ability to throw the football that comes along once or twice in a generation. He was likely treated as a god in high school, he became a legend at Southern Miss, and was a second round draft pick even after having a whole bunch of his intestine removed. The guy has had people worshiping at his feet since he was a kid. Is it shocking that level of adulation has bred a man that has no sense of control?

But he got a pass because he always came across as such a good ol’ boy,

Brett was the “tractor-riding in the offseason”, beer swilling, belching-on-the-sidelines, “tossin’ the football at the press box for $20”, “put her in the ol’ vice” hillbilly. He had a larger than life personality that endeared him to fans (myself included), and he was a bit of a wild card, even after Mike Holmgren was able to reign him in somewhat. The guy was a competitor with a clear love of the game. He became one of the best to ever play the  game, and it was hard not to like him.

While I am in no way excusing his behavior, I have to wonder if some of his bullshit isn’t the product of CTE. Has anybody considered that? How many concussions did he have while playing? The man started 298 games as a pro, and was sacked 525 times. In a 2018 Washington Post article, Brett said he’s likely suffered thousands of concussions. While that number might be more than a bit hyperbolic, isn’t it possible that his more exaggerated “dickish” behavior is at least somewhat the product of his head not being right?

Am I rationalizing somewhat? That’s absolutely possible. I want to believe that a guy I spent so many years cheering on isn’t an utter disgrace as a human being. So, I ask you all. Has Brett ever struck you guys as being a materialistic weasel? Has he ever shown up in half million dollar sports cars? Does he have a mansion and yachts? The guy has always seemed to like living in Kiln, having his house with his family, working in the yard. Just being kind of a regular guy. He and his family are set for life financially. I don’t see him as someone trying to bilk the system for millions he’s not entitled to. At least, not unless there’s something else wrong. Brett’s many things-immature, wild, unrefined. But a crook?

Anything is possible, I suppose. But this, even given the history of dick pics, and everything else…this surprises me.

I have a number of Wisconsin sports autos.  Robin Yount, Ryan Braun, Ben Sheets, Rickie Weeks, Yovanni Gallardo, Corbin Burnes, Devin Williams, Brandon Woodruff, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Clay Matthews, Sterling Sharpe, BJ Raji, Davante Adams. Those are just off the top of my head.

Eventually I’ll get back to adding in autos of the Packers and Braves legends. Bart Starr and Hank Aaron are at the top of my list, but the prices have gone up through the roof. I’m more focused on hockey right now than anything. I’m eyeballing a number of autographed pucks from NHL legends to add to my collection. Mario Lemieux, Chris Chelios, Johnny Bower, Mike Modano, Wayne Gretzky, Frank Mahovlich, Jean Beliveau, etc.

Ive got Bert's signature on a photo of that record setting TD against the Vikes -- though now Im not sure if he signed that, or his brother...

I also have Ahman Green, Gilbert Brown, Ryan Longwell, Nick Colling and Mark Murphy on a helmet...

Hope to add Jamal Williams (personal connection), Jordan Love and Krys Barnes (living in Bakersfield has to give me some advantage, right?)
