Ben McAdoo, current NYG OC used to be Finley's position coach

Why do I get the feeling that Finley, who's blown a knee then got a staph infection, has had multiple concussions,  sustained a serious neck/spinal cord injury is going to be "insulted" by a contract offer GB will make (assuming he's cleared to play)?

Pretty sure TGIF feels he's due that 7 mil or more salary per year....

Which is exactly what he should do.  Go get paid.  I used to hope players would give/take a hometown discount.  Not anymore, take every penny you can get while you can.

I'm sure the Pack would love to have Finley back, but they simply have to spend it elsewhere. Jordy is a FA after 2014 and Cobb is a FA after 2015. Finley will want big bucks despite really not having the production to match(mostly due to injury)

I wouldn't be surprised if GB doesn't even offer him a contract to be honest. Bigger fish to fry. Shields needs to be locked up, they are losing a ton of bodies on the DL due to FA so that needs to be addressed, Safety needs to be addressed as well as them locking up EDS

Not more than the Packers can afford, but more than Thompson would give. And not because Thompson is a tight-wad, but because Graham is going to get over-paid.

Monday Morning MD at NFP  with comments on Mr Finley:

MMMD 7: Jermichael Finley recovery from neck surgery

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley appears to be recovering well from his cervical C3-4 fusion surgery and expects to be cleared for football soon.

This news is no surprise. As indicated previously, Finley choose surgery to protect his spinal cord from the risks associated with football.

He would not have needed surgery if he chose to retire.

Single level cervical spine fusion surgery is fairly reliable. The span from recovery to football can happen as early as three months. Typically, single level fusion surgeries are cleared for football. Multi- level cervical fusion is usually not.

I have personally dealt with several players who have returned to football after this type of surgery. In fact, college players with this type of surgery are not failed in their Combine physicals. I anticipate that Finley will be cleared, will have a productive off-season and play well next season

Yes, but we already know Collins and Finley had the same vertebrae fused (C3/C4?).  Hence the single v. multiple question.

From espnwisconsin article:

On his own during the 15-minute conversation, Collins brought up the fact that the Packers cleared safety Sean Richardson to play last season despite undergoing spinal fusion on the C5/C6 vertebrae. He also pointed out that tight end Jermichael Finley, who like Collins underwent C3/C4 fusion after his Oct. 20 neck injury against Cleveland, was at the Super Bowl doing interviews and saying that he’s a few weeks away from being cleared to play again.

Saw this earlier today. It's an interesting read and it's obvious Finley is working his ass off. MM said no one practices or trains harder then he does.  And after reading what he is all doing to get into the best physical shape he can, I don't doubt it.

But I still think it's no lock he gets cleared NOR do I believe IF he is he will accept what TT offers.

Pure guess but I am thinking TT will offer him 2-3 million plus incentives that maybe brings him up to 4 mil on maybe a 2 year deal. Which Finley will scoff at, find insulting, and go somewhere else.

“Maybe [I should] take my X-rays to the combine now that I’m a free agent,”

Technically he's not a FA yet, unless he knows for certain that GB will not try to [re]sign him.

He'd look good in Green n Gold for another season. Lowball ain't gonna cut it though with McKenzie sitting on $60 million, McAdoo trying to revive Eli in NYG and Schneider ready to pounce in Seattle

Of course, opinions vary, and here's Packer Update with their take on Finley -

"he's a 2nd tier TE"

Finley, Graham, with Cobb & Nelson plus Eddie Lee Ivory, whoops I mean Eddie George, Ummmm I mean Eddie LACY!

Sounds like a formidable offense that will never come to fruition.
