What we don't know is if TT reached out to SF and because they know we're a NFC rival, maybe their price for trading him to us was more than the Donkeys. That's just one of those things TT will never reveal. And MM won't either.

What does my gut tell me? No call was made. No effort to acquire him.

This is a GM who gives zero fuc*'s about what anyone else thinks and is bent on doing things his way. He has a long track record of success and little can argue with that. But then you do hear of opportunities like this and ya, you at least wonder what might of been.

It's pretty sad when your TE situation is bad enough you long for the day when Quarless comes back.

Think about that..

Maybe there are other reasons he didn't BUT GOD DAMNIT....****ING PISSED!

I just want a solid TE.

I agree. I pissed off too. They got him for a 6th round pick and a swap from 6th to the 7th round (virtually meaningless).

So to not do something like this, the Packers are giving up an opportunity to get a guy with a 6th round pick.

Here's the guys the Packers drafted in the last few years in the 6th round.

2015: Ripkowski, Ringo, Backman.

2014: Goodson

These guys almost never see the field. And when Davis leaves don't they get a comp pick anyway?

He's on the last year of his contract and there's almost no risk. He may be washed up relatively to what he was as someone above commented he couldn't beat one guy after he caught the ball to get into the end zone. At least he was open enough to get a ball thrown to him and he can block someone.

TT is a great judge of talent, but the continued refusal to take a couple of minimal risks in order to hold onto a 6th round pick is frustrating.

Maybe he is just waiting for week 15 and a James Starks-ish TE comes from nowhere. This situation is no different than that season. Let's hope for the same result.

Rather interesting that the day after the Pack made their TEs look like a combination of Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten, the Donkey's feel the need to improve their club at that position. I guess Elway thinks 'hey! we can improve our club and I am OK with bounty!' Imagine that!

Those two examples haven't had the luxury of two HOF QBs, expert drafting and good development. The two examples of Woodson and Pep maybe would allow dipping the proverbial toe in that forbidden water a few more times. All I know is there is a team out there with a HOF QB that isn't afraid to do that. Maybe that's why they have four Lombardi's to the Pack's one and two other appearances to boot.

Vernon shared his thoughts Kap should get the bench because Vernon wasn't getting fed. Joe Staley wanted to sock the living **** out of Vernon Davis.

What Im trying to say is I'd rather have a LT like Joe Staley than a mouthy **** like Vernon Davis.

Joe Staley is also available. I think Denver would add Staley in a heartbeat if not for the fact Staley would finally deliver that mile high beatdown.

The packers don't cheat enough.

Staley would tear Vernon apart like an overdone wing.

Remember when Vernon skipped OTAs last year coming off an NFC Championship appearance to focus on "building his brand"? Vernon was part of the startup "Fantex". Fans could buy and trade stock in players. Vernon opened up with a stock offering at $10. He's down below $8 now. Fantex has a total,of 8 players signed.

Maybe Denver is better for the brand building business.

Yeah..  No way they would have won it with him.  If I recall correctly, it would have cost us a 3rd in 2011 as Seattle gave up a 4th.   Ya know who we drafter with that 3rd?

Alex ****ing Green.

The we won anyway argument is ludicrous.

Except for the fact that we didn't really need Lynch because...ya know...we won without him. I think most RBs would struggle to run behind a line that was 2/5 Evan DS and Marshall Newhouse. Not letting Alex Green off the hook because he was terrible, but it's not a given Lynch would have had the same results he's had in Seattle. He's a good RB who *surprisingly* found success in a blocking/running scheme that is designed to make ordinary OL and RB look outstanding.

Davis would have helped a lot I think, but this is the same silly argument about not bringing players in. TT has stated many times that they look in to every deal or opportunity, so I guarantee they inquired about this deal. He didn't see it as a good deal for GB or SF was unwilling to make the deal with GB...or Vernon Davis said no to GB which isn't far fetched because he's been vocal about how he didn't want to go GB in '06.

If that is the case, how did Starks have all that success week 15 and beyond?

Also, TT wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't aware of these potential deals. I'm sure he does. However, if one wants to speculate that VD said no or TT actually did inquire, one can believe it.

However, one can also believe that he didn't inquire or didn't offer anything serious.
