Yeah..  No way they would have won it with him.  If I recall correctly, it would have cost us a 3rd in 2011 as Seattle gave up a 4th.   Ya know who we drafter with that 3rd?

Alex ****ing Green.

The we won anyway argument is ludicrous.

So it's ludicrous to say that winning Superbowl means Thompson made the right decision in 2010, but sane and logical to say the draft pick they give up will turn into the next Alex Green.  Got it.

Considering both our O and our D, because of their complexity, rely on players earning the trust of the staff and AR to get on the field, it seems pretty clear why you don't see TT bring guys in mid-season for a chance to play meaningful roles.  How much of the playbook and how much of AR's trust do we think Davis would earn to actually be of any value this season? IF he still possesses any skills of value.

The one thing VD would have done here is command at least the 2nd tier DB on an opposing defense which likely would have led to less doubling of Cobb. And then that also would have meant Adams get's the 3rd CB covering him and JJ get's the 4th.

So even if VD didn't catch a lot of passes, he'd be a much better decoy/threat than Rodgers or Quarless would have been.

I see this as a bit of a different situation in learning the playbook (NT options limited).

As for others comments about gaining trust in the staff, I agree to an extent, but again looking at 2010 they were pulling guys from all over to patch that D together, and it played very well. I wonder if Capers was forced to simplify things with so many new faces?

Because football players are smart?

"There's a lot going on with Matthew Stafford now ... he was benched earlier in the year which, for a franchise quarterback, never happens," Rapaport said. "I'm also told that Joe Lombardi, the former offensive coordinator, was frustrated that he couldn't put enough on Stafford's plate, did not think he was able to handle it, was not taking as much control of the offense as the coaching staff wanted.

"In fact, new offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter actually had to simplify things for Stafford. All of which, in part, leads to the conclusion that Stafford's days in Detroit are very much numbered."

I've been saying for years that if you took away Megatron, Stafford would have ben benched years ago.  He was never that good but he had Megatron bail him out repeatedly.  And now that Megatron is just a "good" WR, all the flaws in Stafford's game are being exposed.

But I'm not too worried about Stafford, he looks like he's doing ok for himself.
