In the Astros- Rays game today lots of fromer Brewers were good and bad.  Ji-Man Choi slugged a solo homer for the Rays, but Eric Sogard did not play. Jesus Aguilar is not on the current playoff roster.

For Houston Zach Greinke was hammered as the starter.  He pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up 6 earned runs on 5 hits and a BB.  He also served up 3 homers. Wade Miley pitched 2 2/3, giving up 3 runs, 2 earned.  He allowed 4 hits and a BB and 1 homer.

Always interesting to see how former Brewers are doing.  Astros still lead the series 2-1.

This is why people tend to get annoyed by the Cardinals. They act like they invented the game of and are the official curator of MLB unwritten rules.  Yet when things don’t go their way it’s always something like a dead ball.  Umm, your hitting has sucked (how many guys around the Mendoza line) and you are facing stud starting pitching and oh by the way it’s cold outside.   Give some damn credit to your opponent.

I hope they get swept

If the Astros make it through (and that's a big if right now), the World Series could be set up so that the majority of the starts on both sides would be made by HOF-level pitchers.

Verlander and Scherzer are absolute locks if they retired right now. Greinke is close. Cole and Strasburg probably won't make it, but they are at that level.

That means, of course, that the games will end up as slugfests.

Also, how'd you like to be a Tigers fan these days? 5 years ago their starting rotation headed to the playoffs was Verlander, Scherzer, David Price, Porcello, and Anabal Sanchez. They somehow got swept by the Orioles. 5 years later the Tigers lost 112 games and the Orioles lost 108.

They moved 3 members of that rotation for prospects, none of which has worked out. The Tigers traded Verlander for three guys. One is a backup catcher who hit .125 for the Tigers this year and the two others are still in the minors. They traded Porcello for three guys no longer on the team. They traded Price for 3 guys, including two pitchers with ERAs around 5.00 in the majors. .They lost the other 2 as big money free agents.
