Former Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, the son of head coach Andy Reid, has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated for a crash that seriously injured a 5-year-old girl according to 41 Action News in Kansas City.

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced today that Reid has been charged with DWI, a class D felony with a potential prison sentence of one to seven years.  Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 bond but it is not known if Reid is currently in custody.

Reid, who had a previous drunk driving conviction, admitted to police at the scene that he had been drinking before slamming into another vehicle stopped at the side of the road to assist another motorist.  Prosecutors revealed that an analysis of the crash site concluded that Reid was driving 83.9 MPH and had a blood alcohol content of .113.  They also announced that Reid had had "prior alcohol contacts in Pennsylvania".  His previous conviction in Pennsylvania has been weel-documented but this is apparently the first mention of another incident in Arizona.

Ariel Young, the 5-year-old victim, suffered permanent brain damage according to her family but has reportedly been showing some slow but steady improvement. Another child in the vehicle was also hospitalized but did not suffer serious injuries.

I found out that some idiot in my neighborhood last summer decided to go for a ride in his golf cart at 2am while intoxicated. He flipped the cart and the passenger ended up in the ICU with serious head injuries. The dude blew a .173 on his sobriety test. Same guy was also flying a "Trump 2020: Fuck Your Feelings" flag on his house.

I live in probably the only county in the Chicago area that votes red. The Trump supporters I know are members of the American Legion (as am I), supported local businesses and events during the pandemic (saving all but a few businesses in our town), love their country, celebrate freedom, and fight like hell to defend our liberties. We are white, black, Latino, Indian, Southeast Asian... we are diverse. Our kids attend one of the best school districts in Illinois, despite many of us living in lower middle class households.

Your not so subtle characterization of supporters of President Trump and his re-election campaign is fucking offensive. We could go tit for tat on the lunacy/stupidity of the current regime and their blind, moronic, hypocritical followers, but I was under the impression that wasn’t allowed around here...

I’m your Huckleberry.

I’m sure the white picket fence business must be booming in your county.  I mean an entire county in the Chicago area belongs to the American Legion, has freedom picnics and defends their “liberties”?  Wow Opie, sounds impressive.

Your support for a sociopath authoritarian and trying to pass it off as “freedom” is fucking offensive.

Shiiiit... Huckleberry? Please...

I don’t give a fuck about you. You’re a loud clown.

Just let me know when you’d like for the beat down to begin.  The reality is you’re scared of me but then years of getting your balls kicked up into your mouth will do that to a person.

Save it for breakfast traitor, I’m tired.

The great irony of those words is there is no more thin skinned person than the one the words are dedicated to.

Was in Arizona this past week and saw some tool in a big pickup truck sporting the exact same flag.   Much to my surprise, he didn’t fit that diverse target demographic.  Middle aged white guy looking pissed off at the world.  Yep that guy.

After reflecting on the FU flag, our oldest daughter asked the question - “isn’t the election over?”  I simply responded “is that a rhetorical question?”   That’s when our conversation got pretty entertaining.

Anyhoo, it sure sounds like Britt Reid has a lot of demons he’s battling but isn’t he also on record stating he left the team facilities after consuming alcohol?   Just a horrible situation all the way around.

.173 while crashing a golf cart, eh?  That’s real dedication to his craft.   He probably was more like a .25 before he decided to audition for Jackass 5.

We have two parties in my town, one with a Fuck Biden flag on his truck and one with a Fuck Biden flag on his flagpole.....lit up at night.

I also saw similar signs last year...targeting TOG.

Whats wrong with people?

If it makes you feel any better there’s a homeowner near my neighborhood that has several of those types of flags along with a confederate flag.  And at night or early morning it’s lit up as well.

Through the grapevine I learned that there’s a homeowner across the street that is black.  That must make for some awkward conversations when going out to get the newspaper or mail.

We may not agree on everything BK but you are spot on with your comments.  I’ll go a step further.  The ugliness and hateful nature of some of this stuff is just mind blowing.   People reference “making things great again” or “wanting to recapture their country”

How about some civility?  It’s OK to have different views but degrading to death threats and intimidation tactics seems a bit over the top.

It is over the top and its getting very old to me and I am looking at both sides of the aisle when I say that.  When did we lose the ability to respect each others beliefs and cross over total and complete blind and utter hatred?  And that complete hatred comes from both sides no one side holds all the guilt.

Anyhow on to the real topic that was started.  I have had quite a few sad experiences with alcoholics who can't get over their demons and it ends up hurting others whether it be physically or mentally.  It is really sad to experience and see.

Reid needs prison time.  He's had issues in the past and while I don't know the full extent of them nor what he or his family have done to help, it's clear he needs to a more serious avenue of rehabilitation, ie: prison time.

You have to seriously question Andy Reid's judgement to hire him. This is likely the only job Britt Reid could have gotten in the NFL and have to assume Andy did it solely because he was his son, not for football reasons.  I think nepotism is a huge issue in NFL coaching and is actually a big reason for the diversity problems the NFL faces.  How many sons/brothers/etc. do we see rise up the coaching ranks?  Yes you do have guys like Kyle Shanahan who clearly had the talent to be a head coach.  But how many other qualified coaches did he jump over because his dad hired him as OC?

Many companies have anti-nepotism policies, so curious if any NFL teams would follow suit.  I think it would be a good start to increase diversity at the coaching level.

I just checked, Britt Reid played high school football and then served jail time for running drugs in their house.  He coached 2 years in high school then interned with the Eagles during training camp.  Then he served 2 years as a student assistant at Temple (which is in Philly, at the same time Reid was coaching the Eagles).  He then gets hired by the Chiefs.  Without his daddy, Britt likely never is even considered for any of these jobs, let alone get them.  Must be nice....

I just don't understand why some of you can't get it through your thick heads regarding political discussions in this forum. It can't be that hard to comprehend.

The comment quoted above was TOTALLY unnecessary; it added NOTHING to your story, but you just couldn't help yourself, apparently.
Way to wreck a thread!

Whatever they may be, no matter who you may be, NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOUR POLITICAL OPINIONS.

PLEASE keep them to yourself.

Yeah, I’ve been guilty too, but you are right. We can’t help ourselves.

(not pointed at @The Heckler, but you asked the question)

It probably started with zealot like support of narcissistic sociopath authoritarian who fomented insurrection and tried every possible avenue to overturn a legitimate election.

It could be the rage and embarrassment of the first election without a peaceful transfer of power.

Maybe it's the absolute devastation of American foreign policy that has accelerated the plummeting influence of the U.S. in the world.

How about not merely abdicating your duty as POTUS during a fucking global pandemic but actually antagonizing the situation because it puts a crimp in your election chances.  You know, the kind of caring, engaged leader that doesn't bat an eye at over half a million deaths in a year.

Yeah, "differences of opinion".

Would you like me to go on?

Because the reality is this, those who support that POS you have ZERO fucking room to make comments about "reaching across the aisle" and respecting someone's "opinion", which is nothing but a fucking chickenshit cloak for being a shit human being.

So let me say this to all of you peace loving, bi-partisan Trump supporters.

Fuck. You.

Forget about Britt Reid not getting a job in football, but with his criminal history he’d be lucky to get a job at KFC.

Nepotism runs deep in the NFL.  Look at the Patriots.  Stephen Belichick played college lacrosse and was long snapper for one season at Rutgers.

Now, both he and his brother coach the outside linebackers and safeties, respectively.  WTF indeed.

Could you imagine a guy like Terrell Suggs getting coached up by Stevie B?  Former All American at ASU and certain HOF player.

That’s one way to avoid improving diversity in the coaching ranks.

And, ironically IMHO he would have been re-elected if he would have acted normal from April 2020 (let’s open it up by Easter) to Election Day.  We will never know but he surely lost many of the on the fencers.

He just couldn’t do it.

I definitely believe this. Even if the results were the same acting like the compassionate conservative W would have taken it home for him.

I'm certain Spriggs that got "assaulted" (allegedly) was just minding his own business & did absolutely NOTHING wrong. Completely attacked & assaulted for ZERO reason.

Yes, I'm certain of it.
