i wish the MLB players union looked out for those minor league kids, but other than that, make the coin you can when you can
Well, when the colleges get to start paying athletes then the pros won't have to pay them so much.
what are two things that have nothing to do with each other Alex
Starting pitchers have become the QBs of MLB. Itâs insane what some of these guys are going for. Mad Bum clearly has played his best baseball and gets 5yrs 85MM. Itâs the 5 years that blows me away.
This is the same AZ team that didnât want to pay their own stud hitter yet they will sign that guy?

Opps, forgot the sarcasm alert again.
I know only half the games are played at home, but I still like this signing a lot
AVISAIL GARCIA @ Miller Park

Last year, he hit 20 HR's with The #Rays
ðĨIf Garcia played all of his games at Miller, he would have hit 39 bombs!

Similar to Grandal and Yelich I think Stearns is projecting better than historical power numbers from guys like Garcia and Narvaez playing at the bandbox that is Miller Park. Itâs not unreasonable to expect 25-30 HRs each from those two guys.
Not sure if they are slotting in Urias to play 3B but think that may be a hole to fill to complete the roster makeover. Itâs probably a total pipe dream but would Josh Donaldson consider a Grandal type 1 year contract with the Brewers? Assume at his age he wants 3 years but if the Brewers offered 20-25MM would that do it?
I canât imagine Josh turning down a lucrative, multi year contract to play in Milwaukee next year.
there are three very clear holes on this roster, 1st base, 3rd base and another pitcher

Hader is/was being shopped to cover at least 2, if not 3, of those holes.

He goes by, "Mayor of Dongtown"
Now, or when he was in HS?
God I hate Eric sogard
You must be very exited!
It has been fun watching Stearns but this is taunting now!
World Series, baby.
El-Nuke-the-Hurricanes-Bong posted:God I hate Eric sogard
Why?? The little guy can play. He will be a defensive late inning replacement for the error prone Hiura. Also will be a left handed bat off the bench and a fill in at 3rd base. In Stearns and Counsell I trust.
The 25 man roster is taking shape. (Edited for Smoak)
Outfield: Braun, Cain, Yelich, Garcia, Gamel.
Infield: Braun, Hiura, Arcia, Healy, Urias, Sogard, Smoak
Catcher: Narvaez, Pina
SP: Woodruff, Suter, Peralta, Anderson, Lindblom, Houser?, Lauer?,
RP: Kneble, Claudio, Hader, T. Williams, Wahl, Burnes? , Black?
Who did I miss?

Smoak had a rough year last year, but over the last few is essentially a cheaper Thames. Cross my fingers that the sogard effect doesnât hold him back and he bounces back a little bit and this could be a nice sign
Iâm pretty sure Freddy Peralta is entrenched in the pen. He found a great role last season throwing fire in short outings...
I think they go with Freddy as a starter again
Iâm liking the (bargain) creativity so far.
Other than paying sogard 4 million more than he is worth, I agree.
The Brewers really need for Peralta or Burnes to take a major step forward even if itâs in a bullpen role.
They are not going to go out and sign a pitcher for big money so hopefully those guys improve.

I don't hate Sogard as much as you, but I agree that seems like a massive overpayment for a team on a shoestring budget.
The only reason they signed Smoak is for Star Wars night.
Gonna miss Grandall and Moose, but it looks like Stearns is replacing WAR with pretty good value. What's nice is they still have salary flexibility to make a significant move.
Was hoping they would re-sign Thames at less that his option. Oh well.
Really like how Stearns works. Winning in a small market is no easy task in MLB.
Stearns and Counsell just seem to have a knack for finding and coaching up the right guys who fit in with the team chemistry wise and can excel in their ballpark in the past 3 years. No, they haven't been perfect (i.e. Jonathan Schoop) but they seem to know just the right time to acquire guys who maybe are just about to take a step forward in development. They're not batting 100% in that department, but some of the moves they've made have really worked astoundingly well.
On paper, some may not like the moves the Brewers make, but as others have pointed out, maybe they're getting some diamonds in the rough here, and the Brewers might end up shining those things up into real diamonds.

That is very cool. Interesting variation in the amount of foul territory from park to park. That impacts stats.
For the Brewers to be competitive this coming year, they need better starting pitching.
On the depth chart right now is a guy who is 59-61 in his career (Brett Anderson) and 7 other potential starting pitchers that have 77 cumulative wins in their careers.
Will Woodruff, Anderson, Lindbloom, Houser, and Suter be enough to be competitive?
Perhaps the biggest question is which version of Corbin Burnes is real, the 2018 guy who looked like a legit #1/#2 starting pitching prospect or the 2019 version that looked like he was pitching for the home run derby. I think he and Woodruff are the guys with the most upside. The other guys are guys whose ceiling is to eat innings and have ERAs of around 4.50.
The Milwaukee #Brewers were one of the teams who were pursuing Starlin Castro before he agreed to 2-year, $12 million deal with #Nats, but he badly wanted to play for manager Davey Martinez and the Nats.

.
Oh God I'm glad they didn't sign him.
Not Brewer People.
Freddy is pitching lites out in winter ball using a third pitch.
Jimmy to the Dodgers.
And Thames to the Nats.
Jed Gyroko to the Crew.
I like him better than Sogard
