Just get the next one Bucks.  Don’t let it get to a game 7.

Even if it were to go 7, Milwaukee has beaten Boston on their home court twice.

I’d imagine this has to be pretty soul crushing for the Celtics players. They were up by double digits at home, and they let the Bucks, who weren’t playing well, back in it, and then lost.

They can spin it however they want. Doubt had to be creeping into their heads. They’re one otherworldly Al Horford performance from having their season done already.,

If nothing else, I thought that lineup of Giannis, Portis, Matthews, Pat C, and Holiday seems like it gave Boston problems.  Allen and Hill need to play less than they have.

This!!!!

I went to graduate school in Boston. It's a great sports time. The fans can be obnoxious at times, but there are no bandwagon fans there.

Oh yeah, I’ve known a number of people from Boston, a few personally, but even more professionally. Two of them trained me to help prepare for my brokerage licenses, one of which had been employed at Cantor Fitzgerald 1WTC only about six months before the attack. If I remember correctly, his wife was from the Ft. Worth area, and needed to move closer to home to help take care of one of her parents. That move saved both their lives.

Boston fans are a lot like ones in Chicago. No matter how shitty their teams are, they support them unequivocally. I respect that.

But I still want to rub their noses in shit when they face plant. And it’s fitting that all this talk of how great Boston’s defense isâ€Ķ.our D has stymied them again and again during the series.

The sportscasters from all over the country had been saying that Boston is the best defensive team in the league. However, Boston met their match, in the Milwaukee Bucks, as the Bucks are the best defensive team that Boston has faced.

This Bucks team just doesn’t quit.  People talk about Giannis and his almost supernatural skills and abilities, but he has world class toughness and moxie and work ethic and competitive spirit that you rarely see in a star player (any sport).

Boston is a championship level team.  If the Bucks can get past them without Middleton it’s a pretty incredible achievement.

Agreed. Jayson Tatum is a superstar. He's 24 years old and is on a potential trajectory where he is probably the best player on a title team in the next 5 years.  He's as close to Durant in terms of scoring with jump shots as anyone in the league is.

That's what's so baffling about the end of the game last night. Marcus Smart gets the final two possessions? I took this from a twitter post from someone who goes by @34pauIpierce. Look at how wide open Jayson Tatum was after Connaughton's FTs. Matthews fell down and Tatum was WIDE OPEN for a potential game tying shot. Instead of looking for Tatum (or Brown who is just to Smart's right), Smart dribbles right into one of the best defensive guards in the league at halfcourt with 5 seconds left.

Oops.

I don't mind you going back and "Eeyoring" me. I think it's fun banter, but when I made the comment that Bud might have to decide when to wave the white flag and make sure everyone was healthy for Game 6, the Celtics had a 98% percent win probability (8 minutes left). The Celtics hadn't lost a playoff game in which they led by 14 in the 4th quarter in 25 years.

In situations like that (not potential series-ending games) coaches have to make tough decisions on when to sit guys. Is it better to play your starters 42 minutes and fight all the way to lose by 8 instead of by 20 for a low probability of pulling off a miracle, or it is better to get them off the court and not risk injury? Ja Morant originally got dinged up in this season's playoffs because he was playing in the 4th quarter of a game the Grizzlies were trailing by about 25. Embiid broke his orbital bone when he was still in the game with Philly up 20 with about 3 minutes left.

Obviously, Bud never had to make that decision because Connaughton and Matthews hit 3s that got it back to 5 or 6 points instead of 12 within 2 minutes of that point they were down 12-14. But when do you decide that a 12-14 point lead is too much in a game like this? With 4 minutes left? With 2 minutes left?

I don’t think we’re talking enough about @pconnaughton’s two free throws with 5.9 seconds left. An unimaginable amount of pressure and he made them look effortless to put the Bucks up three.

If you watch the replay, Portis ran into Matthews and knocked him down.  It was a huge gaffe.  However, Horford and Smart were loafing up the court because I think they were expecting Milwaukee to foul.

Tatum was wide open, but he made a major gaffe as well not coming back for the ball.  If Smart tried passing to Tatum at half court then Giannis probably cuts off and intercepts or alters the pass.

It's even worse if you watch the whole video.

Thanks for the video.  I've watched it a few times and never did see Giannis in the screen so Tatum would've probably at least got a shot off.

At the very end of the video from the baseline view you can see Giannis in the left corner with a Celtic around him, so if he was there 5 seconds prior then Tatum had a clear look.

A detailed article on Holiday's defense. It's a subscription, but if you have access take a look. It talks about how he designs his workouts in the off-season to strengthen every part of his body and that extends to his feet. And how that training pays off in plays like the block Wednesday night.

Imagine if guys like James Harden or Kyrie Irving put in this kind of thought to how they train?

“It starts at the feet,” Holiday explained to The Athletic in March. “Your feet have to be strong. So usually when I train or start off training, it’s usually barefoot. You have to be able to feel the ground.

In addition, I think Jrue has some of the quickest hands in the NBA.  The 2 guys I’ve seen the past few years with that great combo of quick, strong hands are Jrue and Kawhi Leonhard when healthy.
