What I don’t understand is this offense never played better than when Philbin was OC calling the plays.  Rodgers really seems to respect his ability as well.

So what the hell is going on?   This offense has never looked more predictable and stale as it is now.  Is MM averse to delegating responsibility?

Again I don’t get it.

I assumed he was brought in to help improve the running game and to stabilize the gameday preparation. Philbin always struck me as a guy who is very professional and is a good/great position coach. McCarthy has had a lot of good assistants come through who fit that bill as a good/great position coaches, but aren't meant to be coordinators. MM is the OC, I assume Philbin organizes the preparation for the week and handles the gameplan prep so MM can focus on whatever else the HC does.

Horrible play by Greene.

I partially disagree. He timed it badly trying to make up for a horrible play by Alexander. The rookie corners are getting worked tonight.

Greene never looked back for the ball. He just ran into the Seattle receiver. Jaire still almost made the INT. It would have been negated due to the PI call, though.

Had Greene maintained some body control, he likewise would've had a good shot at an INT. That pass was late and short.

Aaron Jones touched the ball 6 times in the second half. With a lead the majority of the second half.

Mike McCarthy needs to be fired. Possibly within the next hour.

22 offensive plays for the 2nd half. No one touched the ball enough.

That happens when you are bad on 3rd downs. Whether it be poor play design or missed reads/throws by Rodgers, 3rd down failure last night lost the game.

Yep, this seems to be one of the key issues with the offense.  When it's 3rd and 3, it seems like instead of trying to hit a quick pass where maybe the guy gets the 1st down just beyond the sticks, or God forbid an actual draw play, they're looking for a 30 yard pass instead of a 3.5 yard pass.   They just seem to be poor in these situations and it stalls the offense and forces a lot of short possessions for them.

There's blame to go around, both on MM, Rodgers, the O-Line, the receivers.... it seems like they just don't do a very good job on those 3rd and short or 3rd and medium situations.

1 screen called, 0 slants or hitches thrown.

This is exactly on point, there is no balance in the play calling, they will start with a bubble screen or screen and then work that same play to death.  The first time or two it might be relatively successful but running that same play 5,6,7 times a game is just outright stupid.  The playcalling is either predicatable or mindnumbing, 2 TE sets trying to run AJ inside is not going anywhere and the constant long developing pass plays on 3rd and short is inexplainable.

What could a fresh, creative offensive mind do with AR, AJ and a few fresh young receivers? I'd love to find out. Remember how exciting it was when Holmgren brought the WCO to Farvre?

It's just not as simple as bringing in a "fresh, creative offensive mind".  There are so many other reasons why Holmgren was successful not just as a HC but as a QB guide to reign in Favre.

I think NFLN is debuting the Football Life episode on Holmgren tonight.  Watch that and you'll see how much more goes into a HC than just scheme.

That was not 4 down territory.

Still disagree.

Burned timeouts, gassed defense vs a offensive based franchise with the supposed GOAT.

Going for it on 4th and 2 is a lot better odds than hoping Seattle doesn't burn the clock by getting a couple of 1st downs. Unless you are coaching scared.

Course Aaron would've probably thrown it into the ground with a wide open MVS or missed a wide open receiver. This team is fatally flawed at multiple positions....HC being the biggest.
