It would be such a boon for the defense.  He is a shutdown corner.  He can be put on an island 1-1.

But, I am not counting on it, unfortunately.

I know, right? The only thing that gives me hope is Gizzi is in charge of S&C now. A former warrior/veteran/player who isn't going to take any BS. Hopefully the guy turns the, uh, corner...

I love how people pin the injuries on the S&C coach. It's a violent sport with guys that push their bodies way beyond what they are designed to do. Some guys are natural football players, they were born with the genes/physique to withstand the constant pounding. The guys that aren't blessed that way are going to have injuries from time to time.

No matter how many times we post actual statistics that show we were about average for "games missed due to injury" during MM's tenure, some people just keep repeating the "we are the most injured team in the NFL" BS.

You're both right and I was wrong on that. We've been in the median for a while. Really just want King to have a healthy, great year. Sometimes changing Coordinators allows for new ideas and improvements, even though Gizzi's been in the system for a while. He's running the show now. We'll see how it goes.

So I'm not doubting this claim, but I don't know how often these "actual statistics" have been posted on this forum.  Would be interested to see where they've ranked each year over the past 5-10.

Any links??

It's my favorite schtick next to BFI.  I'm sure Gizzi, because he played for the Packers and played shoot 'em up, will change the face of conditioning in the NFL even though he's already been on the Packers S&C staff for years.

They just need to do some more yoga.

I have no idea on how or why King can’t seem to stay healthy and stay on the field. He had some injury issues in college.  Maybe he’s just unlucky.  Or maybe he’s milking it.  Who knows.

All I do know is he can’t be counted on or relied upon at this point.  If he plays an entire year or close to an entire year it’s gravy.

One of life's great mysteries is why some players are durable and some seem perpetually injured. My own theory is it's largely luck (good and bad) and if there was an easy answer all the teams in the league would utilize it.

Big part is body mechanics.  Instead of trying to turn everyone into a hulking mass how about some basic movement fundamentals.  I think one of the smartest things in the past few decades was introducing rugby style tackling.

NFL teams should be paying attention regimens of guys like this instead of another tough guy jarhead.

Common sense says the more an athlete utilizes all of her/his body, the fewer injuries. Many injuries are caused by overworking certain muscles and joints, and they just get tired and worn out of the overload. Constant sport-specific training is leading to a lot of these injuries, especially in kids. And they are seeing more and more fractures to the spine because athletes, again, especially kids, do not strengthen the core enough to withstand the stress they put on the spine. I know four kids, all of whom are 15-16 years old, who all have or have had stress fractures in their backs, all in the last six months. It's crazy...

I think staying healthy is equals parts genetics, preparation, and luck.  I think King's issues are mostly genetics though.  Tall and lanky isn't a great combination in the NFL.  I just don't know if his body can handle the grind of a 16 game season.  Sure hasn't so far.

Also, I think some people just have muscles that are too tight and so are prone to tears and the like.

This post gets better when you read it in a “Hans and Franz” voice

Yes, just read an article this morning on the Bills & their OTA's ....they had 13 players either out or limited with injuries. It isn't just us.

It's put up or shut up time for King

In two seasons, King has played in just 15 games and finished only 10 of those. King has played just 32.4% of the defensive snaps since arriving in Green Bay.

King (6-3, 200) has the size and speed (4.43) to be a major contributor. Through two years, though, he’s been a major disappointment.

As the article points out, meanwhile TJ Watt has 20 sacks in 2 years and has gone to two PB's. If that trend continues and King busts, that will be a huge swing and a miss by Ted.

Not only would TJ be the far better player, it likely means there wouldn't have been a "need" to draft Gary or maybe even one of the Smith boys.

I know. Woulda coulda shoulda...but damn
