Brings me back to Rodgers' stony silence when Jennings left for the Queens. Rodgers is all about rings these days and as he so eloquently once said,

Oh well. He'll be looking for work in 2-3 years after sitting in the tub for a chunk of every season and eating bad stats with Captain Worm-Burner skipping passes to him.

Considering his injury history and Ponder's limited ability, Greg will be extremely lucky to be able to go very far north of 700 yards and 6 TDs. I have a feeling that it will all be downhill from that, he'll be extremely lucky to last more than 3 seasons with the Vikings at his salary. I had a strong hunch last year that his sister's dumb **** on Twitter last year didn't just develop out of thin air (Gregie-Poo was crying to his family about not getting enough balls his way), and this trash interview just confirmed it. **** him.

Still telling to me that Joe Philbin in Miami never really made a play for Jennings.

I got there in a period of time where Brett already was there (as an elite quarterback). Then the guy they have now, he sat behind Brett and he learned so much."

"The guy they have now"? Jennings already has forgotten the name of the quarterback who took the Packers to the team's Super Bowl XLV victory? We can't wait to hear what he has in store for Jones.

Have to wonder if Bob Sansevere, who wrote the original article, was the real **** stirrer. No mention if Greg was joking or not and slipped it into the middle of an interview with serious questions.

Sisters tweet, recent comments. It's pretty clear he believes he played a huge role in making AR a star and the Packers reward AR with all the money and send him elsewhere. Misguided bitterness.

And the organizational comparison to AR having time to "learn so much" and Ponder being forced to "jump in" is a couple of things:

1. Bull***t. What AR learned was done on his own. From MM, Philbin, and Clements. He didn't learn s**t from Brett. Except what not to do.

2. A reflection of a team that understands the concept of draft and develop and a team that rolls the dice on a 38 year old gunslinger hell bent on revenge who spent his final year not even wanting to be there. Ponder not having any time to learn is 100% on the Vikings for having crappy plans.

Tough to watch Greg act like this thinking back to his reaction after Williams knocked down Ben's 4th down pass in Dallas. But whatever, what's done is done. Time to move on.

Gerg, do you think Bert or Ponder could have tossed that terrific third-down pass to you during the SB to basically salt the game away? Didn't think so. You can thank "the guy they got now" for the Super Bowl ring on your hand -- the only one you'll probably ever have. You are now officially joining Bert's Legacy Trashing Network. Let your play do the talking, if it can.

To play devil's advocate a little, Gerg has always seemed a guy says things to the media with tongue firmly in cheek...just like James Jones did/does. And really, how cool is it for him to compliment the QB of his new team's biggest rival? Is he supposed to talk about all the great things Rodgers accomplished in the same breath as he talks about how Ponder has potential? I wouldn't be cool with that if I was his teammate. And he probably still has a solid relationship with Brett (who probably isn't keen on Rodgers) so all of those factors together it was probably smart of him to say what he said. He propped up his QB, complimented his former former QB, and dissed his teams rival. I wouldn't read much into it. Seems like a reported trying to drum up some controversy. Gerg is right though, Rodgers learned a lot from Brett...he learned how to NOT throw idiotic interceptions, he learned how to NOT play in the playoffs, and biggest of all he learned how to NOT conduct himself off the field both as a professional and as a man. I think we owe Brett some gratitude for helping shape Rodgers into the anti-Brett.

That said, I do think it's clear Gerg didn't want to be in GB. GB reportedly offered him a solid deal and gave him a better chance for another ring, but he opted to move on. Oh well, nice knowing you Gerg. Can't wait to see Casey Hayward and Sam Shields shut you down while Clay and Datone drive your QB into the ground!

The only thing weirder is Queensryche fans picking sides 15 years after DeGarmo left. Rodgers started the "who?" tounge-in cheek, Jennings play politics for his current team and it's a business. Mole hill.

It's like when you go to the Vikings you just turn into a mess as an individual.

From that audio Gerg sounded kind of bitter about the parting of ways. Just speculation, but I wonder if the team didn't make as strong an effort to re-sign as the media reported. Like they offered him a deal that insulting to him, giving him the impression that they weren't serious about bringing him back. Again just speculation, but I believe they did want him back just not at the price Gerg had in his mind. Cobb's performance this year made it easier and easier to stick to that offer.

I don't think they'll ever back up the Brinks truck for any WR barring the development of someone who is truly special. As long as AR is in his prime, they'll offer their WR's decent/fair money but money that won't be what other teams offer in UFA. They'll just keep cycling young guys through the system, develop them and let them go for younger/cheaper options.

If any of the young guys show that they belong this year, you may not see Jones back next year. If they develop another young guy next year, you may not see Jordy come back. I don't think you'll ever see the GBP completely devalue WR's, but IMHO there's a limit to what they'll spend knowing that AR is a guy who makes them better.

Would you consider Cobb someone special?

I think Jordy will take a pay cut to stay with the Packers, just seems like Packer people.

See I don't think that was true. I think it was just like the Steven Jackson games that were played, Gerg wanted to go elsewhere so his agent puts out this bogus information about GB offering a ton of money. Which fits better with what GB actually likes to do...I thought it was fishy that they would offer so much money for an older WR coming off an injury.

Possibly, but it's a bit early to tell. Cobb's certainly got a chance. He may get that nice/reasonable second contract like Jennings, Jordy and Jones did, but by then we'll know what level he's reached.

Sure, there could be guys who take less to stay, but my point is that the team is most likely not going to bust the cap for a WR. That's going to lead to some butthurt like what we're seeing from Gerg now.

We're likely 1 year away from another round of similar comments from a recently departed Finley. The cost of drafting and developing wisely is that you can't pay everyone.

Well, I just got reminded of his play in the SB win. And he did seem a fine team mate.

I wonder if his experience in the last 1-2 years, including not receiving an offer enough to his liking to sign with the Packers, soured him.

In the audio it seems he's totally dissing Rodgers by not mentioning him, and not in a tongue-in-cheek way. He also reveals a bit when he says he was always headed for free agency anyway. For whatever reason, he just wanted out and TT gave it to him. I don't think GB really stood a chance of resigning him unless they came up with a top-top-dollar figure. He went where he got some dough and where he thought he could be the BMOF (Big Man on the Field). We'll see.

Same thing with Steven Jackson. It's a game agents play and I don't think any info came from GB regarding an offer to Gerg. Agent puts out information that GB, a team that is notoriously discreet with the media, has made a large offer to his client and then his client accepts a lesser offer with another team "because he just wants to win a SB". And Steven Jackson and Gerg Jennings look like solid team players because they took less money to be where they are...even though they probably didn't take less money. I'm not saying GB didn't offer Gerg more money, but I think the Steven Jackson misinformation was telling about how agents like to use the media and honestly it just doesn't fit with their style of team building. Signing an oft injured 30+ receiver to huge money when you have 3 younger, cheaper, and arguably just as capable receivers on the roster doesn't seem like a Ted Thompson move.

The Packer offer was made prior to his injury issues, off the table and wasn't a factor in the negotiations. McGinn had it at $11 million per and I believe the GBPG had it at $10 million per.

Again though that's probably coming from his agent which was the point of my post. Who knows if that's true or not. No way that kind of info leaks out of the GB front office.
