"Jennings said he told his agent not to contact him about the contract during the season unless he was close to a deal."
"My agent knows, we know our march to what number we're trying to reach," Jennings said of the price range. "That's it. Unless we come to those numbers, then I don't want to hear anything about it."
Note how his love of the Packers comes shining through in all his commentary
Then, when both he and his agent were wrong about those numbers, they got pissed off at the Packers- only to find out in FA that what GB offered was a very good deal. But at that point his vagina was bruised, the die was cast and off he went...
Onward we go into what looks to be a great 2013 season for the Green and Gold
None of this matters to the goal at hand

Here's the reporting from McGinn. If Jennings was really seeking $15 million per he wasn't being realistic and/or didn't really want to be back with the team.
...."In 2012, when Jennings was near the peak of his powers, a source said talks on a multiyear extension ended when he turned down $11 million per year from the Packers, which was far less than the $15 million that he told the team he was seeking."
Envy.
Jennings wanted a big payday and wasn't going to get it from TT who had other priorities.
Probably figured he wasn't going to take a "discount" to stay with GB so the organization could throw money at Rodgers instead.

IF Jennings was (butt)hurt by the lack of love from the Packers on the salary front and did not mention AR by name for some vindictive reason, good luck with why do you even Ponder throwing there. He gets to do something that nearly every little boy dreams of but never realizes... get the f**k over yourself and grow up.
Personally, I think the shot from AR a few weeks back and this non-mention from Jennings and the comment from Jones last week are just good natured ribbing by friends.

I'd love to believe this is just playful banter by GJ, but I'm having my doubts. I keep going back to his sister's handiwork on Twitter and suspect those thoughts may not have originated with her.

respectfully, I sort of disagree
Why are these players inviting unwanted media attention to this issue by making these "jokes" in public ? They all know the consequences of these comments, yet they did it for fun ? Maybe they are all just playing us....
I've been wrong a thousand times before, but this one seems a little snippy for just joking around. Jennings made some comments about how he couldn't be The Man in the Packers' system because of Cobb and others so he chose to leave his amigos to further his own goals. I suspect his QB & WR buds were a little disappointed in the selfishness he displayed, choosing the lesser team and less cash over their brotherhood and a chance at being a Legend for life.
How would you feel if Gravedigger took less cash to post at Chatters instead of X4 ?

fair enough, let's go with being wrong 8080 times
Not as bad as being wrong 20,378 times. Silver lining.
He'll be on the Vikes for two years and then get cut.
Why invite this attention? Really? Narcissists (to a degree), all of them.
Interestingly, AR's comment "Who?" seemed to get credited as a joke, but Jennings non-mention is a jab.
Ultimately it comes down to I've spent more on this than I'd like.
I hope Barclay pushes EDS hard for the starting spot. That is the one position I am concerned about for the 22.

I'll take Sterling Sharpe.
He never disagreed with his sister's tweet. He just said "she shouldn't have done that to me," as if it were absolutely true, and she just shouldn't have revealed it at the time. Remember, what she tweeted was that it was Rodgers' fault he wasn't getting the ball. Now this, not even using his name? That's an obvious shot at Rodgers.
I'm starting to think it was his attitude as much as anything else that showed him the door. Well-stocked at receiver, the Packers needed a team player, and Jennings didn't want to be one. Rodgers was spreading the ball like a good QB should, and Jennings blames him for not getting the ball more after he came back from injury, and probably blames Rodgers for not getting his huge contract.
Then the ultimate knife-wound: implying Rodgers somehow owes his success to Favre, full-well knowing Favre never helped Rodgers in the slightest, and that Favre himself said Rodgers could "learn by watching me like everybody else."
Talk about bullcrap. Rodgers became what he is despite Brett Favre, not because of him. And Jennings just revealed his true colors as a me-first dickhead who is willing to wrongfully blame others for not getting the money he (and only he) thought he deserved. Screw that, and screw him.

There's obviously friction between the two. My guess is that Jennings was being a pain in the ass at the end of last season... Rodgers saying nothing when Jennings signed with the Vikings spoke volumes.
Good post Pistol!

I still love Greg for the 3rd down play in Super Bowl XLV plus the TD catch in the corner of the endzone, torching Palomalu
I like Gerg. I hate the team he plays for. I don't care about the other garbage. He made an error but only because he knew he wouldn't be guaranteed playing time and he made some extra coin as he pushes 30 with a injury history. I wish him well personally but he can go choke on a bag of dicks when it comes to the Vajeens.
Jennings was a great Packer. The comment might seem a bit douchy, but I'll wait until I know the whole story before I develop any vitriol against Greg...but I am keeping my ears open and my eyes peeled.
Regarding the 3rd down and 10 in XLV. It's an incomplete pass unless the throw is perfect with the Super Bowl hanging in the balance.
Perfect coverage. Better pass. 1st and 10.

When Greg goes on Greta and trashes the Packers, and then freely gives his secrets to the pathetic Lions in hopes of them actually beating his former team, then I'll despise him. But for now, despite his recent remarks, I'll remember him for his contribution in helping bring the Lombardi back home.
He's the enemy now, but I hope that someday he'll look back at his two unproductive years as a Viking and realize the family he had in Green Bay. And I hope that when that time comes, he hasn't burned too many bridges to be welcomed back for his accomplishments as a Packer.
Good luck to you Greg, except on Sundays.

What is Jennings gonna say? He's a ViQueen now. He knew people would laugh if he said Christian Ponder. But the fact he can't even say Rodgers name is telling.
Now Jennings can finally be the #1 receiver (providing he stays healthy). But as Adrian Peterson knows, getting your numbers isn't the same as getting a ring.
No one asked me but "I'll take Aaron."

it was a pretty good route and catch too
That's just it. 1 play, executed perfectly by the entire 11 guys on offense. Great throw, great route, great catch. Decent job of blocking by the O-Line. The Steelers knew what play was coming. 27 Tampa. Didn't matter....1st down. CHAMPIONSHIP!

I hope McMillian or yet to be named bad-arse, KO's him in the First Round ... but thats just me.

X2!!
Feel sorry for him, doubt he'll get more Old Spice commercials after his numbers tank in the future and his playoff opportunities dwindle...

There's people in this world I'll feel sorry for, but Greg Jennings making millions every year will not be one of them.
When I think of Greg Jennings, I'll think of the guy that came to our company picnic in Brown Deer back in the summer of 2008 and hung out with us for a few hours with his wife and young kids. He fit in like he had worked with us for 20 years, didn't act like a diva, just was a great guy who was accomodating to everyone.
I'm sure he's probably changed a bit since that time, but I would imagine that he's mostly still the same extremely impressive guy he was back then. He's just a bit more rich, successful, and famous than he was back then and most importantly he's no longer a Packer.

GJ: When you talk about comparing quarterbacks, it's hard to compare guys. I'll take Brett. He isn't so long. I've seen the picture.

The same can now be said of Ponder. The difference is, with Ponder it would be absolutely true.
F Jennings. I'll take Cobb and Jordy over him any day.
I think the only way to preserve our heroes is to freeze them in carbonite.
I don't have any heroes unless I go to a sandwich shop.

My thoughts exactly.
This thread reads like a pack of 13 year old girls distraught that their favorite boy band is being broken up by the lead singer leaving for another act. I love the Packers like anyone else, but can't understand how personal some people take this stuff.
VanHagar fan, eh?
He's vindictive. Don't like those types of guys.

Jordy
Cobb

Cobb
F him. I hope he has fun with the Vikings. I also can't wait to see how quick that smile of his changes into disgust after the Packers woop him.

enjoy gerg.
quote:There were some throws that made you think Ponder has turned a corner with his decision-making and accuracy, but there were also some head-scratchers that you should never see from an established NFL starter.
......
A few stand out:
A double-pump push-throw Tuesday toward tight end John Carlson, which cornerback Josh Robinson easily stepped in front of and intercepted.
Two overthrows of tight end Kyle Rudolph during organized team activities (OTAs). One was in the end zone. On the other, the ball went 5 feet over Rudolph's head and landed in the arms of safety Harrison Smith.
Two interceptions by defensive end Brian Robison in one practice, including one with Robison standing within a few feet of him.
enjoy gerg.
