What a surprise the Bucks beat one of the better teams in the league.

What is their record this year when Holiday, Middleton and Giannis all play?  I know at one point in December they were 11-0.

How long until the Knicks or Heat or Lakers try to trade for Ja Morant?

When all three guys play, the Bucks are now 17-3. That's a 70-12 pace.

When at least one of the three misses a game they are 12-16. That's a 35-47 pace.

In terms of Ja Morant, the bigger question is how soon does ESPN start devoting whole segments to whether he'll sign his rookie extension in two years, or how he needs to be playing in a "big" market. You know it's coming. The latest I saw (in the news, since I never watch anything with Stephen A. Smith) is that Smith had a segment this week where he said that he'd rather have Ja Morant in the playoffs than Giannis because he was a better playoff player. You know, because Morant is clearly going to be better than the guy who just put up 50 in the most recent Finals game (and 42 and 41 in two others) against a team with a good defender (Ayton) who literally had to be comforted on the bench during timeouts because Giannis was eating him alive.

Since Hakeem and Shaq timeframe the NBA (like college basketball) has become guard oriented and everyone wants to jack up 3s.  Including a lot of bigs like Embiid and Kat amongst others.

I liked Morant coming out of college because he reminded me a lot of Dwayne Wade.  Slightly undersized, but a freakish athlete and finisher.  The irony is that neither guy is really a 3pt threat.  But neither is Giannis.

In reality, Giannis is a 6โ€™11โ€ version of Morant.  But given his size, Giannis can dominate on the glass and is an elite weak side defender.

I really like SAS because he loves Rodgers and hates the Cowboys.  And he calls out idiots like Kyrie Irving.  But heโ€™s flat out wrong on this one.  Until Morant can basically carry his team on both ends of the court and win multiple MVPs and a title heโ€™s not in the discussion.

I think Morant and Giannis are the modern offensive versions of Sidney Moncrief, especially Giannis. Elite finishers and can handle the ball and distribute it.

But Morant is not a good defensive player at all. Giannis and Moncrief are easily on the list of the top 50 or so defensive players in NBA history.

The Grizzlies won a lot without Morant because he's someone you consider subbing out on a defensive only possession at the end of a game.

But as foolish as it is to suggest the Grizzlies would be better off without Morant, you cannot deny some of the eye-popping defensive numbers. For the season, the Grizzlies' defensive rating with Morant on the floor is 115.9. Without him it's 102.4. In other words, they've been the worst defense in the league with Morant -- and the second-best without him.
