another TT gem mined from the undrafteds? could be, could be...

quote:
“That kid is good,” Bishop said following the team’s final mandatory minicamp practice last week. “Run stopping, rushing the passer, getting his calls in. Everything. He’s smart. He’s a good player.”

Moses’ standout play during the post-draft rookie orientation camp had Packers scouts and coaches buzzing, and during the team’s mandatory minicamp last week, he had what would have been at least two sacks of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a likely third against backup Graham Harrell.

“We talk about him every day, pretty much,” Tramon Williams said. “He’s got a lot of strength and pass rushing ability, let’s just say that. I’m excited to see what he does when we put on the pads.”

I've read quite a bit about this guy and am pretty excited at his potential. Same with Worthy and House whose names have popped up quite a bit in the OTA coverage I've read.

I suppose the other side of that coin is that I've heard almost nothing about Perry beyond the fact that he held his spot with the ones all the way through. Thankfully, the NFL fan glass is always half full until some time around August.

Praise:
But the fact that Moses has been working ahead of veterans like Erik Walden speaks volumes.

Earlier this week, defensive coordinator Dom Capers offered some unprompted praise for Moses.

“I’ll tell you the guy that’s done an nice job for us picking things up and has some instinctive ability is Dezman Moses,” Capers said. “He’s done a nice job. He’ll be an interesting guy to follow how he does.”

and Praise Tempered:
“I think a number of undrafted free agents, you have to be impressed with their athletic ability,” McCarthy said. “They definitely belong. I think that’s evident across the board. So I’m excited they’re here. But to sit here and single out players that have made huge strides would be very premature, especially since we’re not in pads.”
With the limits on practice / contact in the new CBA, I'd say it's a real long-shot for an UDFA to come in and:
1 - make the team
2 - (if #1) get playing time other than ST

I'll be here all week.

Didn't Moses have a brother Aaron?
Moses' 10 commandments:

1) Thou shalt put Moses on the Packers roster before Brad Jones.... or at the very least on the practice squad.
2) Thou shalt listen to Kevin Greene and heed his words tightly to his heart.
3) Thou shalt always use the phrase "The Bears still suck" when referring to the NFL team located 90 miles South of Milwaukee.
4) Thou shalt obey Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson, for they are the "Packer way".
5) Thou shalt be humbled in front of the fans.
6) Thou shalt not speaketh of thine former enemy QB who once wore #4 for the Pack.
7) Thou shalt someday leadeth the Packers in sacks in a Pre-Season game.
8) Thou shalt introduce himself to Jay Cutler, hopefully after having performed a strip sack for a fumble.
9) Thou shalt provide excellent depth at the OLB position.
10) Thou shalt always refer to the Green Bay Packers as "The greatest Pro Sports franchise ever to exist in the history of the universe"
Michael Rodney at PU does a very good job of offering perspective and context when he writes about an up and coming prospect like Moses - one of the things I really enjoy about his work. He also writes about things he has seen with his own eyes; either in GB or via film study instead of just parroting what he read elsewhere.

Unfortunately, from a business POV, its not controversial or crazy enough to generate a lot of interest and clicks for his site, but its really good football insight and writing IMO.

Clearly Moses made an impression on both coaches & players this spring and maybe he can find a role on the 2012 defense

Moses might not have to walk on water to beat out Jones, Walden or even So'oto (who was last year's outside LB savior). Everyone has good things to say when they're all in shorts, but truth will win out when the pads come on.

Yep....then you have droolers like cheesedick tv and jersey alya and the rest of the ilk.

PU continues to be a cut above
Moses continues his development and is currently the top back-up OLB in GB

He will see significant time at OLB this season after both Zombo and Walden went elsewhere. Kevin Greene is working on his transition from DE to OLB and a leap forward in 2013 is not out of the question for Dezman

----------------------------------------------------------------
"He may challenge So'oto for not seeing the field next year"
---------------------------------------------------------------

That was a great one-liner but things turned out a little different for Moses than So'oto

"Going from being undrafted to playing 505 snaps is a terrific accomplishment for any player."

Lots of defenders got added playing time in 2012 due to injuries to starters, hope it turns into more production in year 2

18 games (16 regular season; two postseason); 33 tackles, three missed tackles, four sacks, two passes defensed, zero interceptions, one forced fumble, four penalties committed.

From Bob McGinn:

Dezman Moses: Made the team as the No. 4 OLB but didn't play much until Nick Perry went down in mid-October. In the last 10 games, he had 63.7% playing time starting for the injured Matthews and job-sharing with Erik Walden. Missed just two tackles and tied for third on the team in pressures with 19. Almost never exploited in coverage, either. Intense competitor with a physical nature. Keeps coming on the rush. Just doesn't have great speed. Grade: C
