I was really surprised by the lack of penetration by the Rams d-line....don't get me wrong our o-line played great, but there was no run stunts, no slants, no run blitzes by the Rams .... their d-lineman looked like they just stood up and played "patty-cake" with our o-lineman. We  often had 5 blockers on 5 defenders and the RBs just got behind a blocker and followed them.

That’s because typically they can get away with it because their front 4 wins one on ones.

No, no. Gotta keep Steno. Give him a huge raise to keep him on that line job. Campen was also good, but Steno has lifted those guys to another level. I don't think I've seen another line do anything like this. Most of us were griping before the year started how Lindsley was falling off, and everyone but Bak and Jenkins sucked and how were we going to replace Bulaga? And now we have one of the best, if not the best, line in the league that just stoned the No. 1 defense.*

Gute done a good job with talent as well. Bakh, Linsley, and I think Patrick were already here, but betting on a much cheaper Rick Wagner (compared to keeping Bulaga), investing in a Jack of all trades talent in Turner, and drafting young talent like Jenkins, Runyan, and hopefully Stepaniak as well. Marriage of find good talent that truly fit the scheme makes for a quality OL.

There are some postings in another thread that were about what would be best for Love post-ARod. I think the choices were at RB, WR, or OL.

I think the very best would be for him to have a strong OL above all else. That's why I hope they keep drafting OL when it makes sense to, and keep Stenavich and/or Butkus in their roles for as long as possible.

In addition, we have to either extend or replace Linsley (and a long snapper!), Patrick and Wagner will be FAs after next year, and Turner and Jenkins the year after that. Change is inevitable, of course, but maintaining some kind of continuity will be paramount. The same is true for the coaching staff.

Changes this year due to the pandemic that I'd like to see kept are with the roster(s) size and the movement between PS and 53. I doubt they change the PS eligibility rules long term (the ones in place this season), but the PS size should be increased and teams should have more flexibility for game day actives.

He has just done a phenomenal job. Turner has really upped his game and showed his value. I thought the RT position would be a mess after losing Bulaga and signing Wagner. Wagner and Turner have well exceeded expectations. I like what I've seen from Runyan as well and Bak, Linsley, and Jenkins are all among the best at their positions....

While it's great to have All-Pros like Bakh, Jenkins, and Linsley, OL might be the most important unit to not have a player completely over their head (Jason Spriggs). DB is probably the same way (Josh Jackson)

Four A level players with a D- often gets you beat (Jason Spriggs). Just having guys like Wagner, Turner, and Veldheer for depth that will at least provide some level of resistance is crucial.

One of the other Covid changes I'd like to see stick around is the ability to protect 4 guys on your PS.

Owners might push back against that because you have to pay them a full-time salary if you do that. Otherwise, why would any player (or the players association) agree to lock guys onto the practice squad when you get a minimum of 30K/game for being on the active roster or 12K/game as a vet to be on the practice squad?

I agree with having 4 more guys around for stability, but just make them part of the roster and allow teams to have more flexibility on their inactive list.

MLF's offense is not only QB friendly but is also OL friendly.  With AR getting the ball out quick, it makes the OL's job much easier which has to be one of the reasons they've fared so well through all the shuffling.  It must be a relief and even energizing for the OL that were here before MLF to no longer have to pass block for 5-10sec while AR runs around waiting for a receiver to break open on a scramble drill.

Not to mention more focus on the running game which gives them more chances to be the guys handing out the ass whippings instead of preventing them.
