As much as Fournette is intriguing I worry a bit about his recent injury history. but then again I kind of wonder how "hurt" the guy was the season before he leaves?
I think for a top part of the draft you have to hit on this pick. I don't follow college football enough to know who to pick but I think in no particular order they should go LB, DE, CB, WR, and RB. I don't think there is a TE in college who rates a ranking that high but maybe they could get Butt from Michigan in the top end of round 2.
Whatever position they pick or what player they pick I really think it needs to be at a position that they make an impact. I for one would not hate it if they took a tall fast WR who can go up and get balls and be a real deep threat.
RB is also high on my list. I think you let phat Eddie walk (correct me if I am wrong but isn't this his last year of his rookie deal?) they need something our of RB and they cant settle for the Stark's of the world. Not knocking James he just isn't a difference maker.

I'll say talk of restructures is a bit premature at this point.
The cap/floor should increase again next year, and we're somewhere around $10M under. While it's a nice idea to bring pay in line with production, I think we'd run into a situation where we had plenty of $$$, but no players to spend them on.
I can't see jettisoning CM3, Lacy, Starks, Cobb, or others without somebody to replace them. That'll take another year or two at minimum.
Shields is as good as gone already, and I fully agree his salary is way to high to assume the risk of losing him to another concussion in any case. CB surely has to be a high priority for draft or (dare I say it?) FA acquisition.
Peppers is likely done also. While not unexpected, and the relief from his salary will be welcomed, it creates another 'need' position to draft/fill.
RB will be interesting. It's easy to think of Starks being the most likely to go, but I can't see the Packers paying up for Lacy. Russ & Ted will have their work cut out for them.
Christine Michael could be on a 6 game try-out. He was picked 1 spot behind Lacy and has similar production (ypc wise) with less wear and tear. Playing behind Lynch initially he saw little opportunity. Hell, bring them both back. Neither should command significant FA $$, unless Michael goes nuts over the next 6 games.

I brought up trading A Rod last year, probably something like a 1st and 2nd rounder. Still uncertain on Huntley, but he has not had enough reps to be sure, I feel that something is pretty good with Huntley. Trade Rodgers, fire Capers and get Sanjay Beach to write Packer blogs.

C'mon now, still waiting for Ricky Elmore, Lawrence Guy, Carl Bradford, DickRod, and even Datone Jones to develop. There's a chance.

TT won't draft a TE in the 1st round. He will go for a O lineman. If they don't sign Lacy cheap, I see RB in the second round which means Fournette will be gone when our pick comes up. There are a lot of CBs in this draft so round 3 for that. TE in the 4th. We need a big TE that can move the chains. We haven't seen enough of Cook to say he's that guy. ILB and WR in the late rounds because TT has his eye on someone. Then he'll re-sign Barclay. For depth. Ugh!
I think he'll find and grab a real good WR in RD2. He could go in almost any direction in RD1 with bpa and be good. Need playmakers pretty much everywhere.
From what little I saw I think Cook is that guy if he can be signed reasonable and can stay on the field. Playing in GB seems to increase the injury factor for any player.

Yes. So will Dalvin Cook and McCaffrey. Bill B is probably working on plays for McCaffrey in his spare time.
Draft some Badgers. These guys have more guts and heart than any Packer does right now.
There is no reason to draft Badgers other than if you are a homer. College football is a whole different level than NFL. The only players that look like they could play in the NFL are Watt and Biegle.
Maybe Dare and Cichy and the tight end......maybe

How silly of me to post this. TT and MM would never give them the chance to prove themselves in game situations anyway. They just praise them as to how good they are in camp.

Playmaking. Jabril Peppers is the best player in college football. Trade up and make him your hybrid Woodson like player...
Maybe it's just me but I don't see the same Woodson and Jabril Peppers comparisons.
Peppers is a better athlete, but Woodson had off the charts instincts and an uncanny ability to make a play at the most important time- in college or the pros.
Peppers is a good player I just don't know that he's trancedent like C Wood. Plus, what position does he play in the pros? Safety? LB? Corner?
Overall a deep and quality draft for DBs and with Shields status in the air that's where I think TT will go round 1
I don't think he's a better athlete than Charles Woodson, I don't think there are many better athletes than Woodson of that time period. At 205 lbs. he's definitely a Safety in the NFL in the mold of Jalen Ramsey or even a bulkier Tyrann Mathieu (better comparison IMO). Maybe you could bulk him to 225 and play him at WLB like Shaq Thompson, but that's a stretch.
Agreed. I've seen Peppers faked out by ball carriers and washed out of plays too often to be convinced he is what the media say he is. He just snagged his first pick saturday and no forced fumbles in college? I admit I haven't watched every game he's played and he is a "freelance playmaker" but the attention he gets seems to be from being really good and a lot of things but not the best at any one thing...yet. Not that he doesn't have room to develop but he is a little over hyped at this point.
Peppers isn't in the same class as Woodson as an athlete. They're very similar in size except that Peppers isn't projected as an outside CB in the NFL. And that's not a knock on Peppers, you just don't see many 6'1" 210 lb CBs for a reason - that size limits agility and quickness, which might be more important than pure speed at CB. He's projected as a safety that can play nickel but he's not fluid enough to play on the outside full time whereas Woodson was one of the best CBs in the NFL early in his career playing outside.
Patrick Peterson is probably the only DB whose athleticism can be compared to Woodson.
