...this can be a magical season.  Allow me to put on my green & gold glasses for a moment and make a prediction.

Over the next 48 hours it will be confirmed that Rodgers has a chance of returning by week 16 or 17.  Over the next 8-9 games, Hundley will prove that he belongs in this league.  Our injury situation will improve at other positions improves, and the Packers will play around .500 ball (give or take a game) with Hundley under center (BTW, that success will significantly improve his value and result in the Packers getting a good draft pick for Hundley next off-season).  Rodgers will indeed return by week 16 and help the Packers secure a playoff spot by beating the Vikings and Lions.  The Packers will go on to win the Super Bowl on the very field where it appeared that their season effectively ended just months earlier.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

If your going to dream - dream in a broader context.

In 1992 the Majic Man (who was a #7) went down and some guy named Brett Favre came in to save the day.  This year AR goes down and Brett Hundley comes in (who is also a #7).  In a twist of fate a #7 redeems the Majic Man.  Hundley plays so well that AR wonders if he has a job next year.  Yes - including a SB win.  Next year two SB winning QBs duke it out for the starting job in GB.  The rest of the NFL wilts at the thought of facing GB.

If there is a God, this conversation is happening Sunday before kickoff in the Packer locker room.

(Bulaga) "Season's over, man. Barr dropped the big twelve."

(Matthews) "What? Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Steelers took out Woodson and Driver??? Hell, no!!!

(King) "Steelers??"

(McCarthy) "Forget it, he's rolling"

(Matthews) "And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough.........the tough get going! Who's with me?????!!!!! Let's go. Ahhhhhhh!!! It is time!!!!!!

Matthews goes running towards the tunnel, walks back in a moment later to a silent locker room.

(Matthews) "What the hell happened to the Packers I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest season of our lives. But you're going to let it be he worst."

(imitating Randall) "We're afraid to go with you, Clay. We might get hurt tackling."

"Well, just kiss my arse from now on. Not me! I'm not going to take this! Brees is a dead man. Brees.....dead! Daniels!!!!!"

(Daniels) "Dead! Clay's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We've gotta take these bastards. Now, we could fight 'em with the nitro package. That could take all four quarters, and cost us lots of injuries. No, in this case, we have to go all out!"

(Matthews) "Let's do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I think Hundley will do better than most non Packers fans say he will. I hope there is a mean, vengeful Packers team on the field the next time we face anything with purple on it.  GO PACK, GO!

I sure hope you don't have a drug test in the near future. ;-)

Anthony Dilwig, 1990.
Majic was injured when he was upended and tackled on his shoulder by Freddie Joe Nunn, who drew a personal foul on the play. At first thought to be a bruise, Majkowski's injury turned out to be more serious, a torn rotator cuff. The Packers finished the season with backups Anthony Dilweg and Blair Kiel. During the 1991 season, Majkowski was benched by head coach Lindy Infante and replaced by Mike Tomczak as starter, but resumed starting duties at the beginning of 1992. On a play on September 20 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Majkowski tore a ligament in his ankle in the first quarter. He was replaced by 22-year-old Brett Favre, who completed the game, a one-point victory,[5] and went on to start every Packers game through 2007.

I have not been impressed with BH in any of the games he played in mop up duty. However, the coaching staff has faith in him. So I will too from now on. Pride is on the line. Win or lose I expect this team to put up a good showing and be in the hunt for the rest of the season.

I thought this team looked playoff bound before the injuries struck. I liked the the additions to the team during the off-season. All the backups have done better than expected. Not great, but not too bad. I don’t know who on PUP and IR will come back to the roster later but whoever it is will be a boost to the team.

He can potentially make millions in the next few months by proving he can play in this league. Just like Matt Flynn did....

And we could be in position for a high draft pick via a trade...

Another big factor: Rodgers will be able to see the defense from a different perspective and spoon feed Hundley exactly what to do.

Maybe for future games but not for the Saints game. MM said this morning that AR12 is in "recovery mode" after his Thursday surgery and WONT be at the game Sunday.

Damn the torpedoes FULL speed ahead.

AR has been in Brett’s ear for three years. He may not be at the game but will help with film study when he returns. Brett’s Time has come and the whole team will back him. He will improve each game. As the injury situation improves so will the team. I don’t know if we will win this next game but I expect an improved game plan and success filled future.

Wait...

Does that mean he is cut? Not coming back to practice, right?

EITHER WAY,,,,, BRETT WILL CHOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reasons to believe:

Running game with Jones and the threat from Hundley.

All kinds of talent at receiver - Adams, Nelson, Cobb, Bennett, Allison, Montgomery, Kendricks, Jones.

OL basically healthy.

No one in the NFC-N is going to run away with the division.

Reasons not to believe:

Hundley seeing ghosts and throwing way out of rhythm.

Capers.

If Taylor is OK and good to go for Detroit, it will be the first time all year the preferred starting 5 OL play together.  I think an intact starting OL will key for the O.  WR corp is healthy and there is suddenly an RB in Jones that provides a boost to the running game.  I'm sure MM will be able to jump start the O, too.

As for the D, I'm hoping the youth movement bears fruit as Clark and Martinez continue to play well, King and Jones keep learning and growing and maybe M. Adams and Biegel can provide some spark.  Would be nice to have Brooks back too.  Having a quality 3-OLB rotation, with Beigel getting a few snaps would be significant.  Also need Burnett back - it's clear he's the defensive leader.

I've said it a dozen times that it is too early to count this team out in the NFC this year.If Rodgers is able to come back in Week 15 the Packers only need to squeak out 2-3 wins with Hundley.

Look at the schedule.

They'll be lucky to beat Cleveland - and I'm not joking.

Until the defensive issues of "mis-communication" - "players lined up in the wrong spot" - "not enough players on the field" - "too many players on the field" - "middle of the field wide open" - "tackling issues" - "coverage issues" get resolved, this team is going nowhere with Hundley under center.

I think I'll parlay $100 & bet against Green Bay the rest of the season
