I Used To Despise TeBow, Now I Feel Sorry For Him

So I was never a fan of TeBow the football player or religious advocate. Because of this stuff and his rah-rah attitude at Florida, I was pulling against him. But, somewhere something changed. In Denver, he truly stunk as a QB and I figured he was grtting too much credit for what the Denver D was doing. But, the extent of the vitriol against him was ridiculous. People were taking needless potshots at the guy and now some of his teammates rip him for what? Hell, the Jets are playing so poorly and they rip a teammate who is NOT playing? Ridiculous...

Anyways, TeBow has done whatever Ryan has asked of him. Protecting the punter? Really? Thats an insult and there is no other backup QB being asked to do that. TeBow has never once complained. He has shown grace and class under the worst of circumstances. When asked what he felt about the comments by teammates that he is terrible, Tebow replied he is human and that it hurts. But, he went on to say that he tries to see the positive in life and this presents an opportunity to work harder and let teammates form a better opinion of him...

Amazing...

I am not Christian, nor am I a member of his cult following. But, TeBow the man has won me over even though he is not a good QB. I find myself pulling for him now and hoping he gets a shot to shut these classless teammates up. How can they talk when Tebow beat them

Its weird, I hated LeBron too but was actually glad to see him shut his haters up after the Lakers were eliminated. He did not deserve the extent of the crap he received. TeBow does not deserve it either. The world would be a much better place if there were more TeBows in the world.

I dont think we should have Espn specials about him, but maybe we should learn from his actions as a human being and a man.

I have never disliked Tebow the person. I am not religious but I don't mind one bit that he wears his faith on his sleave it really doesn't bother me. What I don't like is the coverage he gets by the media especially ESPN. I can see how players would get as tired as the rest of us for hearing about him. I think this could especially be the case with the NY media.

Where I got upset was last year and the coverage Tebow received. He was treated as the 2nd coming while QB's like Rodgers and Brees where chasing passing records never seen before and there was hardly any attention paid to them. Yes they received coverage but nothing near what Tebow received.

I've either never or have always felt sorry for him. Never 'cause Cat make big dough. Always, because he never asked for any of this attention.

I will commit and say I like him. Also, I think Timmy Football beat the Jets last year. This is Ryan losing his team. 90% of this league is full of entitled, immature kids. Up to the coach to control them. He can't control himself. So how do we expect his players to act?

Great post Cal. Blame BSPN for this one. Without the media hype this wouldn't have been an issue.

Jets are to blame, too. They trade for him and have all the hype about how dynamic he'll make their offense and they don't even use him? I think he stinks as a QB, but the team certainly didn't have any kind of idea about how he was going to be used.

Everyone knew this was going to happen. The Jets don't have a starting QB and they're a team following the coaches lead by running their mouths every chance they get. Rex lost his team last year down the stretch. Tebow was gas on the fire.

Tebow seems like a good guy. But he also has a hard charging well oiled PR machine that controls virtually everything we see related to his image. He is the same guy that trademarked Tebowing(tm). Post a picture of yourself and Tebow on Facebook and you may get a cease and desist letter if the pic doesn't work with the Tebow(tm) brand. Hard to tell where the real Tebow ends and the brand starts.

And let's be honest. Is it really surprising NFL players on a losing team get fed up with questions about the same guy every day that isn't the solution to all their problems? Whoever said it should man up and own it, because it was spot on.

Tebow had a choice. NY or Jacksonville. He chose to be a backup in NY.

It was a trade, so I don't believe he had any input in the decision, but I could be wrong. That said, your point about him never shying from a camera has some merit.

I tend to agree with CalBuc's post for the most part, and I think we can all agree it's the coverage and hysteria around the guy that makes our skin crawl, not so much Tim himself.

Maybe he should figure out his role is to do something other than claim he's a QB and play a position where the fact he can't actually throw isn't a liability to the team.

I would love to be a back up or 3rd string QB for a QB that never gets hurt (like Favre for example). You don't do anything except run the scout team and help gameplan, you get paid good money (by a non-NFL or non-Kiel standard), and you have a great view of the game. If by some chance your QB does get hurt and have to play, if you play badly enough they will bring in another QB to play for you (ala Curtis Painter).

In college he was fine at QB, he could run and with a lot of talent around him facing college DBs he didn't need to be very accurate. It's also been reported he only wants to play QB and has been reticent to switch positions, which may play in to it.

I think he could be a pretty good Fullback actually if he worked on his blocking, which punt blocking isn't much different than blitz pickup, so maybe he will end up "switching". Of course Fullback is not where the money and glamor is either, but a career vs. no career is also a motivating factor.

Wow, my words are being twisted..

When I say the world could use more TeBows, it is in the sense of judging a man by his actions. He is not perfect but he is a good MAN by any standard. Yes, he preaches too much but that is because he believes it deeply. I can choose to tune it out.

What converted me from a TeBow hater to a fan of the MAN (not football player) is how he has taken all the negativity directed his way and not lashed out at the sources. He says the right things and he does all the right things. Compare him and his approach and actions to ANYONE in sports or life, and he compares admirably. We are fed up with the cheaters, the womanizers, the thugs, and the freespenders in sports and we rip this guy? Come on...

I respect him for the man he is and appreciate that. As a player, he struggles. But, he tries hard and is driven to get better. He may never again start in the NFL and that is fine. But, I really like how he has approached life and adversity.

I wish him well and hope my daughter finds such a man (albeit a different faith) to marry one day.

The Tour de France people vacated his 7 titles but did not name a new winner, why? Because of the next ~25 riders in each race, they all were caught cheating at some point in their careers. Only the people who manage that and other bike races care about this. Armstrong is still a name and will still make a very good living off that name.
