For the stats wiz who made the Favre hating article. You mean to tell me Favre had his best seasons when he had 2 good receivers. Thats real hard hitting stuff there. Amazing that a qb would be better with Greg Jennings than Antonio Chatman.

Now let me ask you this. Has Rodgers really ever been without two stud pro bowl receivers. Has he ever been without a 1200 yard back. Has he ever been without a really solid or great tight end. Has he ever been without good wide receiver depth.

This era is basically a replay of the Lynn Dickey years. Loaded on offensive talent, ass for defense.

So what you're saying is Favre needs two stud pro bowl receivers to have his best seasons? And here I thought the guy made bad WRs average, average WRs good, good WRs great, and great WRs stud pro bowlers.

That ass defense (without two stud pro bowlers) did a damn good job against one of the best last night.
Predictions:

Packers 9-7

I just think the D is a house of cards. Pass rush is iffy at best. Even with Woodson having an MVP year they got lit up by good teams. Backup cbs are not too good. Tramon is ok but seems to get a lot of penalties. Backup safeties are not good. Linebackers are shaky in coverage.

Special teams looks like its going to continue to be below average.

Vikings 11-5

Losing Rice for awhile is a blow but I think they can survive. Having Peterson helps and he needs to step up and have a better year than last year.

D helped with Winfield and Henderson back
I dont really care that much. This stuff just isnt that important to me.

Once there is a different qb in green bay and favre is retired I will probably be more enthused.

I also think Thompson is similiar to Melvin. Just as Melvin can't develop a team with pitching and defense. Thompson has little feel for defense and special teams.

Other thoughts, keeping Harrell is a joke. Theres no way hes going to stay healthy, and when he is healthy he is nothing special.

He gets rid of EDS, Breno, Barbre. Its nice to finally admit mistakes but the guy has like no feel for the offensive line. Last season he deemed Barbre a capable starter who then gets his qb killed. And now he cant even make the squad.
same old bs and obsessing. just like last season yet werent humbled at all by the vikings dominating twice. now are just left hoping ill will and injuries on teams.

its as if packer fans are turning into vikings fans of old.

playing on the road against the super bowl champs isnt an easy task. Does anyone honestly think the Packers would have a chance with their lack of pass rush and shaky secondary.

Just wanted to quote this post for historical archiving Smiler

I feel the better draft would have been say Maybin and Unger, and not give up any picks.

Maybin is a legit pass rusher. He may not remind TT of himself as a youth but thats ok. And Unger would give a solid zone blocking olineman that should be a steady starter at center or guard, which would alleviate the problem of weaking the line when having to move guys to tackle.

Thats my opinion, time will tell.

I basically agree. I think Matthews is just going to be like a step above Popinga. TT falls too in love with linebackers that fit that profile.

icon...you are so spot on. Instead of Good Luck Chuck, you are Good Luck Dum F.... Whoever you don't like, they go on to have a great career.
Progress report:

My advice of not talking Super Bowl and what not was spot on. Now the team has a ton of injuries and really hasnt played any of their tough games yet. They will lose on road to Vikings, Falcolns, Jets.

Vikings started out slow. Rice being out was similar to year Javon Walker being out and messed with the offense. Now with Moss they have a guy defenses have to respect and it opens things up for Harvin. Losses against Jets and Saints were tough considering they should have won but nobody really expected them to win those.

Kolb has Eagles at 4-2 and now have a great qb situation with him and Vick. But they have some injuries. His throws today were a thing of beauty.

Being a rich celeb and married is stupid. Its not natural. Lets see, bang hot young girls or some old stale chick that probably lays there like a corpse and wears granny panties. Deanna's doing just fine. She gets to live like a queen and not lift a finger and if they ever get divorced she will have millions.

The haters are way overselling that thing over their blind hate of Favre. I don think anything will come of it.
other notes:

Bulaga is not looking very good. Very Barbre esque yestrday. I still think the better move is Sitton at RT, Lang at RG.

Matthews plays on the border of being a dirty player and I think eventually it will come out hes juiced up on something.

If only the first half of games were played Rodgers would be a hall of famer.

McCarthy is an average coach. He panics whenever there is pressure and constantly gives up on the run.

Having Kuhn as the backup rb is kind of stupid. He has heart but is just a straight ahead plow.

James Jones and Jordy Nelson arent living up to their billing.

Harrell got hurt right away like anyone with half a brain knew he would.

Not sure what TT and some fans fascination is with Swain. They should use that roster spot on a better wr prospect.
