Progress reports dont come after a week.

Thoughts on Brewers manager. The main problem on the team has always been Doug Melvin. First he picks Yost and sticks with him a couple years to long to save his skin. Then picks his crony Macha who was a dud. Now somehow Melvin survives to pick another coach.

Bob Melvin would just fit the trend of hiring every guy that rejected him in the past. MA needs to step in and make sure they hire someone completely out of that loop that can outlast Melvin with the team.
You guys spent all week making every possible excuse for if the Packers lose. Not a bad strategy really. If the Vikings win you can act like you expected it. If the Packers win you can act like its a big accomplishment.

I think the pressure is on the Packers. Its a home game. Worst comes to worse the Vikings will win the second game and split and Favre will be 3-1 vs the Packers.
You guys frankly bore me. You look at things in such a simplified way and unable to use any reason or logic.

The Vikings underperformed for a variety of reasons. The defense was really subpar and hardly made any big plays all year and the secondary stunk in part bc of injuries.

Sydney Rice getting injured really messed up the offense. Moss was a desperation move to fill the void and couldnt be counted on. They got almost nothing out of backup running back most of the year.

They lost some close games that could have gone either way. Case in point the game in Green Bay. Al Michaels was practially giving Favre fellatio before he realized Harvins foot was out by a few inches. A few inches and they win that game. Instead Favre gets labled a bum for the loss.

You guys get on that bandwagon, then like the next week or something, forget which, he as a career high for passing yards in a game. The guy is pretty much the same player hes been the last 5 years. But with mounting nagging injuries and the team not up to par, theres not much to play for anymore. He had one of his best seasons of his career last year and that alone made the decision to play a couple more years look smart.

On to the Packers. I find it really disapointing how some of you turned into such negative nellies the other day. For instance throwing Clifton under a bus. The guy has been pretty much a rock all year. Completely handled Jared Allen. Its amazing they got the year out of him they did.

It has to be disheartening that even though they had a solid year, will still miss the playoffs. Now the injury excuse is being used heavily, but where was that excuse when they were dominating most of the teams they played?

For as good as you guys say that Rodgers is, hes going to be at least 28 before he wins a playoff game. Hes the proverbial stats accumulater. Basically Lynn Dickey. A guy given great weapons to throw to that puts up the huge numbers but wheres the playoff wins.

As for Kolb, are you serious. Michael Vick is playing because hes having an MVP season. I dont think anyone expected that to happen. What the Eagles do is up to them. If they want to invest in Vick and go with the guy they drafted recently as the low paid backup and trade Kolb thats up to them. Maybe Kolb will be a Viking next year, wont that be fun.

As for the Brewers. Everything I said like three years ago turned out to be true. I told you guys all along that Doug Melvin was the problem and him staying around and saving his ass was just going to hinder the team. I told you he would get desperate and start trading away good prospects to try to bring in pitching he has failed to develop. I really think Brett Lawrie is going to be a big time player. It really stings. Then Marcum and his Tommy John elbow will be on the DL. They will give Weeks a fortune after he finnally stays healthy for a season they will go back to his old ways. At this rate will only get draft picks for Fielder. I guess hope for the best.
As for Greinke rumor I'll have more thoughts when it happens and what the deal really is.

DM is emptying out the farm system and young players thats for sure.

If I was them I would have just pursued Greinke and not even done the Marcum deal. Its kind of uncessary and a lot of risk. Lawrie is a big loss to me.

That in addition to losing their shortstop who was basically just a rookie and still has a lot of upsdie, basically their starting centerfielder whos a good prospect, and their best minor league pitching prospect is kind of a lot in one year.

I just think the D is a house of cards. Pass rush is iffy at best. Even with Woodson having an MVP year they got lit up by good teams. Backup cbs are not too good. Tramon is ok but seems to get a lot of penalties. Backup safeties are not good. Linebackers are shaky in coverage.

Special teams looks like its going to continue to be below average.

Vikings 11-5

Losing Rice for awhile is a blow but I think they can survive. Having Peterson helps and he needs to step up and have a better year than last year.

D helped with Winfield and Henderson back
