That's the equivalent of all the chatter about Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and Nick Saban and putting them altogether to form a super GM/coach of the Packers.

Brian Kelly would also have to be fired.
In 2015, Brian Kelly's ND went 10-3 and ended up #11 in the final poll. They lost by 2 points at Clemson (#2 in final poll), by 2 points at Stanford (#3), and to Ohio State in the bowl game (#4). Yes. Notre Dame is down this year, but I can't imagine them firing him less than a year removed from an outstanding season.

Brian Kelly is much like MM....very stubborn, overly loyal to terrible assistant coaches, can't commit to the run game, and is not able to adjust during a game. Just watch tape of the game they played in near hurricane conditions a few weeks ago at North Carolina State (a game that should have never been played) and explain why Kelly was compelled to stick to a shotgun formation, empty backfield and continue to throw the ball. Then he threw the center under the bus after the game for some bad snaps. He's also lost to DUKE and NAVY again this year, a bad Texas team and a horrible Michigan State team (at home). Believe me, many at ND want him gone.

If they fire MM, they need to fire TT as well. This lack of talent has much more to do with Ted than Mike.
Im not a big fan of how McCarthy calls a game or manages the clock.. but the one thing he has seemed to be able to do decently in years past is get guys to play for him. Sort of like Mike Sherman... bumbled a lot of other things, but the guys played hard under his watch.
Mike Sherman was awesome, thanks for bringing him up.

Not sure who you mean. Only guy I can think of that coached both places was Dan Devine, and he won a NC there.
If a coach has a 10 year life expectancy with a team Saban should be available next off season too.

Man, I just don't see McCarthy working at Notre Dame. I have a hard time believing he could be a dynamic enough recruiter to succeed at that level. I think he'd be Notre Dame's version of what Mike Sherman was at Texas A&M.
Sherman recruited a kid you won the Heisman as a (redshirt) freshman.
It's a decent thought though. He's a good coach, and they need one. Of course, gotta be able to recruit. That's the name of the game in college. But he can tun 11 personnel all damn day and it'll work with the right guys.
But I'm pretty convinced that McCarthy is coaching his final season, and we'll all look back at the 2015 NFC Championship game as the delineation when it all started to go wrong. They don't appear to have ever recovered from it.
I do like MM but if he went to ND that would change in a second.
Anyhow, I don't think there is anyway this will happen. I don't think ND makes a change this year but could next year. Plus I just get the feeling that he is an NFL guy he just seems like he would stay there.

I agree. Now if the Pitt job ever opened, that might be a different story. Narduzzi seems to be doing a good job, though.
