Most hated franchise topic alway comes up Bears or Vikings Week.

For me it’s far and away the Vikings. However, I think that’s due to living in MN for 11 years, having obnoxious Douchebag MN in-laws, and their fan base in general. I’m also only 45, so MN has been more relevant in my eyes.

I remember the 85 Bears squad and the bad blood between Ditka and Forrest Gregg, but I never can say that I’ve actually hated them the way I do the Vikings.

Most likely just a generational thing.

I don't hate the Bears like I did in the '80s, but I'm probably capable of that again if they ever get really good again.

This is my point.

Your hate of the bears shouldn’t be based on a whim of how good they are. It should be a pure hate. A hate that transcends time and record and results. 43 wins in a row vs a bears team that has lost 237 straight games? Doesn’t matter. Just one win and they’ll be right back to the most obnoxious and horrible fanbase in the world (football division as there are no worse fans in any sport than fukking cubs fans).

I'd say I dislike Vikes more than Bears as well.  You can't have any more douchier owners than Red McCombs and then the slimebag Zygi Wilf that took the Vikes right after him.  Those bozos set the tone for that franchise.

The Bears ownership at least is sort of an offshoot of the George Halas family.  They're not perfect, but they're not the tools the Vikings had owning them.

I will do my best to hate them more than I have.  I think I've probably been focused too much on hating the Seahawks since 2014.  I don't know that I'll ever stop despising them until Carroll and Wilson are both gone.  I don't hate Wilson as a human being, he's a good guy, but when he steps on the field, I want him to lose and be miserable.

viking fans are the kid brother in the corner of the room, stomping their feet and saying "What about me? What about me? What about me?"

bear fans are the obnoxious drunk at the bar who talks too much and too loud and irritates the hell out of everyone.

Can't "pure hate" the Bears. Too much respect for tradition and an honorable opponent. Plus, the Bears have at least won championships. Watching GB and Chi fight tooth-and-nail to win, especially in the old "blood-and-snot" days was awesome. They are rivals, but I respect the rivalry.

I can, however, pure hate the Vikings. They show up and think they run everything but have no long-standing tradition, no championships, no respect, and no class.

On the other hand, fans... well, they're fans. Vikings fans are just like their team, while Bears fans when they win are just like Vikings fans.

Perfect illustration.

The Vikings fan is stupid and really desperate, and the other one is just stupid.

In the 60’s, my family moved to Wisconsin from the south and I went to high school and collage;-) there. And lived in the southern part of the state. We hated all the people from Illinois. That carried over to the Bears. At various times I hated all the teams that kept us out of the playoffs. But since the Favre era it’s the Vikings fans who have got under my skin the most. Yet, hating the Bears is still a DNA thing and will remain so. The Vikings fans are like pesky mosquitoes and I just want to slap them because they annoyed me and just won’t go away.

vikings fans demand to be noticed. Your mosquito simile is very appropriate.

I am starting to not 'pure' hate the Bears.

I cannot pure hate da bears. Especially if they beat the vikings twice, this season. It's a possibility. The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.

For me, no one sucks as bad as the vikings and their attention starved fans. I know the Bears are, historically, our biggest rival and I can respect that, but living in western Wisconsin for the past 30 years, the vikings and their fans have gone out of their way to skewer Packer Fans whenever they can. That being said, I will always tell vikings fans that the Bears and Packers are the oldest rivalry in sports because it is true and also to watch them throw a hissy fit for not being included in the greatest rivalry discussion.

They seem to delight in it. I think that's because they think we dislike them because they are good.  It cracks me up, actually. One of the NFL's loser franchises has convinced themselves they are elite like us. At least the Bears have a significant championship history. The Queens?

Its completely acceptable to have a deeply rooted dislike for the Bears, Lions, and Vikings. You may choose to respect them quietly. But never lose sight that their intent is to win the division and keep Green Bay out of the playoffs.

This “soft spot, respect” banter for the Bears is purely driven by the fact they haven’t been very good in recent years. Would love to dig up the Bear Week thread leading up to the 2010 Title Game. Pretty sure those pages didn’t speak of an inability to dislike them.

Repeating the key point of all division games. Sweep the leg. No mercy.

I do think in some ways it is a generational thing to some extent. I stongly dislike the Bears and their FIB fans but my true hatred is reserved for the Spermheads.  I have a lot of relatives in MN and as a kid I always had to hear how great the Spermheads were and how bad the Packers were.  Every freaking holiday I heard about it.

hate the bears more. for me it was wearing the Packers sweater to school that my Grandma bought me for my 10th birthday the Monday of the '85 MNF game in Chicago. I was so proud of that sweater. After another Ditka ass whipping I was ridiculed mercilessly the next day, vowing to get my revenge. never forgot that. the last 25 years have been nice but I want to squeeze more blood. I screamed at the TV when we let off the gas a few years back. Must... destroy....

I still believe the intensity of the rivalry is geographically-based.
Growing up in OK, DallAss is the team I despise far and away above any other. And a large part of that was because of their fans; think Minnesotans of the South. Arrogant and ignorant.
Over the years, the Vikings have 'grown' on me; and it's now as easy to despise them just as I do DallAss, and largely for the same reasons.
Their teams and histories aren't that different, really, ....except for SB wins.

If your parents didn't teach you to hate the Bears first and foremost, than you weren't raised right.

Yes, the Vikings have been more annoying the past decade, but that cannot and does not trump a century of hate.

Mike needs to put Marcedes on Bulaga’s hip and run right at Mack the entire 1st quarter. I don’t care how much Mack trained during his holdout. Not one practice. You make him play run. You drain a lot of steam out of that engine early.

I grew up in western Wisconsin and have lived on this side of the state for most of my life...so I haven’t had much of a chance to experience the Bear rivalry.  The closest I came was during my years at Ripon College.  Ripon had a huge number of Students from Illinois.

Now, this was in 1979 and college students didn’t all have TVs in their rooms.  In fact, the way to watch a Packer game was on the 24” tv  in the dorm lounge.  At least that was the plan.  The first Sunday of the year I go down to watch the game and find the tv tuned to the Bears game and the knobs were stolen from the TV.

So, while I dislike the Vikings and their fans more, I can understand the Bear rivalry.

Flip side of this game is that Oren Burks was drafted to deal with backs like Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Lack of speed at ILB is a big deal Sunday. Chicago will focus on that. Mitchell doesn’t have the chops to test the secondary downfield.

Went to undergrad near Pittsburgh at that time & had to endure watching the Steelers every Sunday in the dorm lounge, no changing to another game until the game was completed, no matter how big the blowout.

The betting line for this game opened at Packers-8.  Then the blockbuster trade of the millennium happened, and the line nosedived all the way to:

Packers-7.5

So according to bettors, the Bears literally still suck.

I agree and don’t think the Packers should change their game plan any for one player. Mack’s not going to be ready. Play your game and win. They’re still the Bears, and everybody knows what that means.
