The Packers will be facing a pissed off 0-2 team. That's always dangerous.
Still, a very winnable game for MLF and co. We should be looking at a 3-0 team by late Sunday afternoon.

Tests on Darnell Savage's shin showed just a bone contusion, his agent Seth Katz told ESPN. Expect a light week of on-field activity, but the rookie starting safety is preparing as if he will play Sunday against the Broncos. The 21st pick in the draft... https://t.co/crsRyYlDct

I'm hoping we see more from that fullback that was so impressive in camp. Pass receptions and things like that.
I expect they should win this week and next Thursday vs. Philly. Anything can happen of course but a 4-0 start looks like it's in the cards.
Found on the internet: To open the season 2-0 â let alone both wins coming against division opponents â puts a team on the right track for the postseason. Since 2007, teams that start 2-0 have a 55.1% chance of reaching the postseason, though that trend has cooled the last few years.
In 2018, five of the seven teams to begin 2-0 did not make the playoffs and in 2016 and 2017 four of the eight teams that began those seasons with two victories were sitting home in January.
As for the Packers, a 2-0 start is relatively rare in the Aaron Rodgers era. Since taking over as the starter in 2008, this season is just the fifth time the Packers have won their first two games (with final regular-season record):
2008: 6-10
2010: 10-6, Super Bowl champions
2011: 15-1
2015: 10-6
Here's to hoping for sweet revenge for Super Bowl XXXII. Okay, bad joke, there can never really be any revenge for that debacle.
3-0 would look really nice after a 6-10 season. The Packers haven't played well enough to think this is a "gimme" but this one in theory should be one of the lesser games on the schedule in terms of toughness. Do not look ahead to the Eagles, focus on this one and make darn sure you've got a good plan to control Miller and Chubb. Keep those guys from wreaking havoc on Rodgers and Co. and I like the Pack's chances.

I definitely like the chances more vs. Denver than Philly. Wentz will be the best QB they've faced so far plus I think the Eagles have the best O-Line the Pack has faced.
It's the NFL...anything can happen week-to-week.
Broncos offense shouldnt be a tough assignment for the revamped D.
Could be another ugly contest but just win baby.
Looking for a second receiver to emerge soon. I'd throw a PA go route to Kumarow on the first play.
My main concern with Denver is new HC Vic Fangio knows Rodgers and co. Packers still have advantage with unscouted looks on offense and revamped D.

I agree, but more because of the likelihood that Bakh will be much less likely to play on a short week. It took him all 7 days to get his back into shape to play against the Vikings and it's clear he's not himself given how well bull rushes are working on him so far this year.
Flacco is a great test for Pettine's defense (now that he has some talent to implement his schemes) because he's the type of QB that always ate up Capers' defenses more than they should have. Steady, veteran QBs that didn't make stupid mistakes were always a problem for Dom's defenses (the superstar QBs ate them up too, but you expect that).
The Thursday night games are often terrible because it's often just a war of attrition. Bakh may still be the 2nd most important player on offense (right up there with D. Adams) because he's both an All-Pro level player but also because the drop off to his backup is huge. Alex Light lining up at LT in a prime-time game would be a problem. Although at least it wouldn't be Jason Spriggs.
RE: Eagles. They have lost one of their core DL in Malik Jackson. That's a huge loss. His back up, Tim Jerginson, left in a walking boot on Sunday. That looks like he could also miss GB.
And then there's Alshon. Who's hurt again:
#Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery is dealing with a calf strain, source said, following Sunday night football. Itâs not major, but with two games in 10 days, the timing is bad. His status for those is in some doubt.

Oh. And I have said this a slew of times on here. I'll say it again. I'll say it next week.

Yes. Especially since there is a way that they could get almost as many Thursday games in by just setting it up so that two teams that had a bye the previous week could play the Thursday game.
Having the game at home for the Thursday is a huge advantage as well, especially since the Packers don't have to travel back from a road game on Sunday.
I for one wish they just stopped Thursday night games all together. Like others have said if the NFL truly was serious about player safety they would do away with those games.
Do away with Thursday night. It sucks.
If they MUST keep it, then Thursday games only after both teams have a bye.

Why not Wednesday and Thursday night games? It's probably coming at some point. The only reason they stay away from Friday and Saturday is that they don't want to interfere with their free talent development programs (high school and college games).
GB is 2-0 but there are no gimmee games in the NFL. I like where this team is going but they need to continue getting better, especially on offense.
Soft rebuild, year 1. Every game will be a battle.
The Packers OL getting a lot of grief on local sports radio today for their play in the 1st 2 weeks. Week one was ugly, but consider the team they played. Of the 6 sacks Rodgers has taken in 2 games, you'd have to think a couple are probably on AR.
And I think MLF has to make a decision on Jenkins vs Taylor. Those watching the tape say Elton is the better athlete and is making the most of the reps he's getting. If that's true and the rookie is the future at LG, then make a decision and make him the full-time starter. This OL needs to gel and it's hard to do that when you still have moving pieces at G
Jenkins has held his own physically, but they may be wanting to bring him along slowly with the mental side. For all of Taylor's physical deficiencies, he's a savvy veteran OL who generally makes correct reads in pass pro. If we don't need Jenkins in there right away (which we don't, Taylor is fine), then I think bringing him along slowly is correct. I'm way more concerned about Billy Turner getting whipped by power moves than I am about Taylor. He's gotten worked over with that bull rush the first two weeks, can't have interior pressure when you're facing elite edge players.
This is going to be another tough week for our OTs. The Vikings bull rushed the shit out of Bakhtiari and his fucked up back. He gave up a lot of hurries it seems. He's going to face another power rusher in Chubb this week, so I hope that back is healing up! Rodgers will need to get the ball out quick and do a better job stepping up int the pocket. Can't sit idle on a 7 or 10 step drop and wait, gotta step up or let the ball go.
That's been AR's problem for awhile now (Getting the ball out quickly).
I'm going to the game this weekend and am really looking forward to seeing the whole field. TV cameras typically focus on the QB and we are left with seeing AR just dance around and hang onto the ball. I am curious to see if guys are open and he isn't seeing them or if everybody is covered.

Yep. No arguments here. For those wondering why AR is still occasionally showing that same habit, I think we have to remind ourselves he didn't get into the sandlot style football/waiting forever for a guy to get open overnight.
That was years of being in an inept, stale offense where he developed those bad habits. Coupled with his complete disdain to throwing INT's. Then add to that, having a QB coach in Frank Cignetti who reportedly AR hated and had no respect for and a HC in MM who tuned out.
I fully believe MLF can get AR out of those habits including some bad footwork he's still showing here and there. But it's going to take some time.

2 MNF games each week then?
The Packers got some help in the return game today, and depth in the secondary, signing Chefs CB Tremon Smith from waivers. His 26.8 AVG on kickoffs last year was fourth-best in the NFL.
Mike Pettine is a great defensive coordinator, but this is taking defensive schemes and deception to a whole new level. If we sign just one more Smith on defense, we'll have officially entered the Matrix.
I think a consistent pattern of successful play calling from MLF will be the only thing that gets AR calmed down. He played within the scheme through 3 series and got it done, but things started to stall and he seemed to revert to trying to do too much or overthink what needs to be done. Sometimes I think AR puts too much pressure on himself to win the game on his own at the expense of the game plan. Gameplans arenât perfect and thereâs plenty of room for improvisation, but thereâs no clear strategy to ARâs style besides push the ball down the field with no concern for down, distance, game situation, etc. MFL had a good plan for MIN, more of that and I think AR will fully buy in and do it his way.
DeSean Jackson has an abdominal strain that is expected to sideline him for about two weeks, according to sources.
The Broncos offense was able to put up some yards on the Bears. And Flacco passed for more yards than AR did against them. And the Broncos had a pretty good drive at the end of the game.
I don't think Flacco's gonna see another SB, or ProBowl for that matter. But there's some talent on Denver. And if there D is forceful, it could make for a long day for the Packers. I don't see it as a gimme win at all.
Defense with 3 INT's off Shane Falco.
Offense doing just enough to win.
I see this game as a Cakewalk. Another snoozer.
3 weeks in a row against arguably a top 10 defense.

To protect Rodgers from Miller and Chubb, Rodgers must get rid of the ball quicker than he usually does. Quick rhythm plays should help with that. Fangio and Co. got skewered by the refs against Chicago. They will be looking for some sort of redemption but, it will have to wait until next week. If Rodgers and the Offense plays to their potential and the Defense plays to their normal game, the Pack should win this one. GO PACK, GO!!!
Miller and Chubb have done nothing ....yet. Lots of agnst out here in the mountains.
IMHO if the defense keeps it up they will make is really hard on Denver to score. But, what does give me concern is that Denver's D is very good and the Packers will have to score on every opportunity they are given.
I also do worry a little bit this could be a let down game after the big win at home against the Spermheads.
Since he entered the league in 2017, Broncos left tackle Garrett Bolles has been penalized for holding 16 times. Those are just the penalties that were accepted, though. Two of Bollesâ four holding penalties on Sunday were declined so he was only credited with two. He also held a fifth time but the penalty was incorrectly credited to guard Ron Leary. So, based on the numbers, itâs not surprising that Bolles has a reputation for holding. Speaking to media members Monday, Denver coach Vic Fangio indicated that Bolles may need to respond better to coaching.
âHeâs just got to be a little bit more technique sound,â Fangio said. âI think he suffers from â you know, he thinks heâs in good position sometimes and dumps the guy at the end and thinks itâs a legal block. âWe have to do a better job of explaining that to him. Heâs got to do a better job of listening to the explaining.
But I think he can.â
Guy sounds like a mess. Time to meet the Smith Bros !!!
On one site I read that the Broncos bemoaned the lack of sacks. They attributed it to the fact that the opponents had quick passes. As of late, Rodgers is not known for quick passes. Perhaps when he looks at the tape Matt will encourage Aaron to do that more often. Too often the key to beating our offense has been to plaster our receivers and get Rodgers to hold on to the ball before a sack. The key for the Packers this week is to do what they did most of the first half on Sunday. Mix it up and play action to slow the rush and release the receivers.
A couple things I'd like to see this week.
From the comments page: I am not a G. Bolles fan but, in his defense; he is still a young player and still have room to improve. He is not the main reason the Broncos are 0-2. Their defense needs to do a better job against the run.
Packer defense is legit and don't see them struggling against Joe Flacco. Offense continues its progress and it's a reasonably comfortable win.

I really hope you are right, but I don't see a "cakewalk" at all. I am not swayed at all by the fact that the Broncos have not registered a sack yet. Between Vic Fangio's success against the Packers at both SF and CHI, and the presence of Von Miller and Chubb - combined with Rodgers' propensity for holding the ball way too long - this will be a very tough, physical game. Packers better not be too high after that win over the Queens, because they will need to be sharp against a dangerous team searching to avoid an 0-3 start.

â Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) September 19, 2019
- Trade WR Trevor Davis to Oakland
- Promote TE Evan Baylis to 53
- Sign WR Keon Hatcher to P-squad
Baylis promotion related to Graham's groin injury, which appears to be a real problem. Like what Gutey's done but the Jimmy Graham signing hasn't worked out well for him.
Isn't Baylis a lot like Tonyan in regards to build? Glad Fling-a-Fack is onboard.
Matt LaFleur said Jimmy Graham's groin bothered him Sunday but "he fought through it." Sounds like Graham could miss Sunday vs. Denver, but LaFleur said "I think in the long run he'll be all right."
This should be a good opportunity for Tonyan. If he has any possibility to morphing into a number 1 TE, show that shit now. He had a great pass and catch last year against the Hags IIRC that went for a TD and a 28 yard completion in week 1. It's also time for AR to figure out a way to get this kid the ball.
He's the fastest amongst this group (minus Sternberger who's on IR). He can't be any worse of a blocker than Graham. This should be his Wally Pip moment

Nope, Tonyan ran a 4.58 to Sternberger's 4.75
Proverbs 27:17, âAs Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens anotherâ
New offense facing 3 of the better defenses from 2018 is going to prove helpful down the road. Tough sledding for the O so far but itâs going to get better.
I think Jimmy Graham in street clothes isnât hurting anything. I donât think Tonyan is a better blocker but heâll make a better effort and is more dynamic as a pass threat.
I think the NFL is catching on that Aaron Jones is massive matchup nightmare thatâs only going to get worse in MLFs offense.
I hope Kumerow gets more snaps now that Davis has been sent away. Finally.
While I LOVED seeing the few times Rodgers lined up under center in the Chicago opener and watching Chicago try figure it out was fun. I didnât expect to see it expand the way it did against Minny. Minny didnât expect it either.

And this from Broncos coach Vi Fangio Wednesday on the prospect of facing Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers this week: "He is one of the best of all time, there's not a lot that's given him a lot of trouble. One of the definitions of a great quarterback is there is really no one way to play him. So, we just have to mix it up on him. He's a great passer, quick release, great arm strength, mobile, scrambler, creator, and he's a great player.'' Fangio also said Rodgers has "athletic arrogance, which is a compliment. He just thinks he can do it.'' After two games the Broncos defense has no sacks and has not forced a turnover. Moments later Fangio was asked if he had concerns over the team's pass rush and he said: "Not at this point, one thing I will say is I was disappointed in our rush on the last drive (in the loss to the Bears). But prior to that in these first two games, they've been unusual games as it relates to pass rush.''
The Smith Bros. should be licking their chops:
Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer
On left tackle Garett Bolles' struggles with penalties -- five holding penalties in the first two games, including four this past Sunday in the loss to the Bears -- Broncos coach Vic Fangio said: "We talked to him early in the week, (offensive line coach) Mike (Munchak) did the bulk of it, I talked to him a little bit, I'm sure he's heard everybody else's comments indirectly, he knows what he's up against and what he has to do.'' On how much patience the Broncos would have with Bolles moving forward, Fangio said: "A good amount.''

I read someplace that Baylis was halfway decent as a blocking TE. And he has been on the PS so he probably knows the offense. I liked him in his limited time in preseason. I expect that he can help on Sunday.
Like everybody, I knew that Graham couldn't block but gave him a pass because his pass-catching abilities could be exceptional. No matter the reason, the pass-catching isn't anywhere near where it needs to be so fuck that guy.

I'd like to see the TE used in the passing offense. We've got enough on the roster, so let's see them in the passing game. Maybe it was that Graham was hurt/done, but hopefully Tonyan gets a shot. It's the only way we'll find out if he can play or not.

I thought that was supposed to be the majority outcome of the rules changes. Every time I see someone return a ball out of the end zone and end up short of the 20 I just have to shake my head.

It's somewhat remarkable that just a few years ago, getting to the 20 (+) yard line from a KOR from the end zone was pretty common.
Now, with the rule changes, it's not as common. Returns to the 25 are even rarer.

From FaFleur presser: looks like Graham will play & Jenkins will start at LG
Bears fans were bitching about Bulaga choke-holding Mack on most passing plays.
Well, this is one way to bond as a Team Captain..
ZaâDarius Smith said yesterday he was treating the entire defense dinner last night.

Guys asked him: âZ, whatâs the limit?â
There was none, and Smith said the bill was about $5,000 at Republic Chophouse in Green Bay -- not as bad as he thought it... https://t.co/ZVxRPjbAld
Great. So a dinged up Graham is gonna make a go of it. Thatâs just fucking spectacular.
That guy needs to be sent off to Canton sooner rather than later. Heâs past his expiration date.

Easily the best free agent signing since Woodson. Very happy to have him leading this defense.

Exactly.
Republic Chophouse was one of Woodsonâs favorite places in GB. The Smiths were fine additions.
In fact. IIRC It was Damarious Randall that took to Twitter during his rookie camp complaining there wasnât anywhere good to eat in GB and Charles took him to school.
Graham is questionable on the injury report just released. He's not offering much when healthy and I wouldn't be that surprised if he's inactive on Sunday.

One of the few things known about Jimmy, he don't miss games. IIRC, he had one season where he played like 11 games, almost every other seasons he's played it's been the full 16.
He broke his thumb last season. Didn't matter, he played.
He didn't play well, but he played.
#Packers injury report. Lane Taylor and Oren Burks are out. Montravius Adams doubtful. pic.twitter.com/4yKOqWkMB3

Think his thumb injury led to a tipped pick in the EZ that should have been a TD.
I get the guy is an all timer at TE. But how everyone can be cool with Clay in LA because his best days are in the rear view mirror but Graham just needs a chance is homerism on a grand scale. Graham looks about as done as done can look. And the last thing I want to see is done with a bad groin.
Tonyan is a better option in this offense. He canât block either (and while weâre here Lewis hasnât exactly been a blocking force either) but Tonyan is a slightly poorer manâs version of George Kittle.

As opposed to some players who have to be chased to pay their bills...
And I'll assume there's a lot of coughing in Arod's direction....
