Oh you best believe the topic of Packers games and their sanctity came up before marriage.  Of course, at the time she said that was fine.  Just like she said she would be fine not having kids.  That's OK, I told her I'd be coming into a lot of money.  That way we were both disappointed.

JK.  Packers games are sacred 99% of the time - she kows it, her family knows it.  I'm a little more flexible because I get to have Sunday Ticket, therefore I can record a game and watch it later.  Of course knowing this, she pushes for more recordings sometimes, but I push back.  I get an angry look and she's annoyed, but it goes away.  This is one of the few times I'll give in.  It's only one game out of the season.

Quit being so well adjusted.

Fucking show off.

When Mrs. Timmy and I decided to get married, I let her handle the bulk of the planning. She was trying to choose a date, but the first three she picked were game days, and I immediately vetoed them.
I did relent and said getting married on gameday would be fine... but it would have to be early in the morning or later at night, depending on kickoff time, so everybody would be gone by then.
We did have an offer of a halftime wedding at the sports bar we attended, but she had some more traditional ideas... bless her heart.

Well, we're having my wife's family over for dinner on Christmas day, so I won't be joining you guys live for the game.  They're going to want to watch Christmas movies all day and expect me to be present, so I have to record the game and watch it Sunday.  Hopefully I can avoid looking at the score until then.

My guy....  You got to set the precedent early and always stay the course.   While on my honeymoon in Prague I got up in the middle of the night to go to the casino to watch the game.

16 to 19 Sunday’s a year I’m unavailable for 3 to 4 hours.  Other than that, I’ll do whatever the wife schedules.

On our Honeymoon in St. Moritz, Switzerland and this is the game I found listed on our hotel satellite (back in the stone ages of 1996)

Packers annihilate the Bears; Beebe takes a kick- off to the house, Freeman caught a Hail Mary, Keith Jackson TD , multiple INTs for the defense.  Just a huge day for the Packers and my charming bride became a Packer fan for life

@Harrymanback Blanton's will be consumed if they win.

I also have my in-laws coming over for the day, but they've been told (and understand) that the meal will be served either before or after the game.  I'm voting for before the game as I will be doing most of the cooking/prep.

I'm a little confused about the NFL policy to require a negative test before playing if you have already tested +.  I'm assuming this is just to prove that the initial test was a false +.  If that's the case, another test should be done right away.  If you truly test +, then subsequent tests may be + for months.

Do liquor stores near you carry Blanton's?  I haven't been able to find it for at least a year.  Like I've said previously, I can order it online for $250 a bottle, but there are other bourbons close enough in quality for $50 - $60.

I'm cooking too.  But see I might have fucked up when I got Sunday Ticket.  Wife knows I can record it and watch it later.  And on a day like we have planned for Christmas, it's hard to argue her logic.  Believe me, I'm working on it.

My wife hates me during football season. Doesn’t understand how I get so worked up and crazy over some thing I have no control over. She’s right.

I’m actually glad my wife is not a crazed football and Packers fan. She balances me out. If I had a wife who took this stuff as much to heart as I do we’d be fucked.

Ha!  I used to be bad like that.  My wife even bought a foam cheese brick for me to throw at the TV.  She'd go upstairs, the dog would cower and go upstairs with her.

There are 16 bottles of Blanton's in all of Oregon, selling at $59.95. All of them are at liquor stores more than 5 hour drive from Portland.

Blanton's is nice, but paying >$75 for it is crazy, unless it's your favorite thing, in which case, godspeed man!

I was at that game.  Long time Packer fan and shareholder.  Had never been to a game at Lambeau.  Attended Lots of Packer games in Philly, NJ, Buffalo, and Baltimore.  My kids got tickets for me (and them). What a marvelous weekend. Toured the stadium on Saturday, Titletown brewery, tailgating Sunday and then the blowout win. πŸ€—.

Blanton's is tough to find.  I love all bourbons from the Buffalo Trace family... Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are nice.  Blanton's is obviously great but my favorite is Colonel E.H. Taylor.  Best bourbon I've ever had.

Weird. Confidence level isn’t great that he returns this season.

@mattschneidman
Matt LaFleur says Packers are "unloading" David Bakhtiari for the week. Doesn't clarify what that means. Has sidestepped two questions about his confidence level in Bakhtiari returning this season. "When he's back, he'll be back."

We REALLY need KC vs the Browns.   They love to pound the rock between the tackles.

@TomSilverstein: #Packers coach Matt LaFleur said that NT Kenny Clark is eligible to play on Saturday. He said there are some protocols he must get through. Said he's hoping he gets through them in time to get back to the facility before Saturday.

No sense putting any dates/milestones on his return. Let the speculators twist in the wind.

If you're a fan of watching body language, MLF has a few tells when he's dodging those Bakh questions.

That was the game that made me a Packer fan ... my dad and older brother were Browns' fans & I just had to be the rebel (at age 6)

mine was the ice bowl for teh same reasons. Dad and older brothers luved the Cowboys. I had to dig at them and chose the Packers and been a fan ever since. My dad never cursed but I remember that day I learned all kind of new words. I read Instant Replay by Jerry Kramer a few months later and was bonded forever.

I did that to my left achilles when I was 25.  I was playing raquetball, jumped up to hit a shot and then immediately jumped forward to hit another shot and I could swear the person I was playing kicked me in the back of my leg.  I crumpled to the floor, but when I looked back, the other guy was way at the back of the court.  I stood up, but couldn't push off on that leg.  I suspected, but I was hoping for the best.  Reached to the back of my ankle, and sure enough, it was just mush.  No achilles.  What a brutal injury.  Three months in a cast, and when the cast came off I looked in horror at my calf and about fell off the table in the Dr.'s office because I didn't have any calf muscle left.  It took a year to walk normally, and I never recovered my speed or ability to jump very high off that leg.

Of course these guys can hire the best when it comes to recovery/rehab, but I still feel for any athlete that this happens to.  It can end a career.

I read that and the comment by the writer above- now I am an old guy and sports medicine is light years ahead of where I am coming from but when i was a teenager a torn Achilles ruined the career of Dave Robinson one of the all time great LB's, and I suspect that it will probably do the same for McKinney!  It robbed Robinson of his explosive 1st step and lateral agility and I surmise the same will happen to Tak!

You lucky old bastards.

I was taught to love the Pack during the Dickey years.  We lived in Waukesha but my old man went to GB for sales calls frequently.   He would take me along and drop me off at the practice fields.  They fucking sucked but they were my team.

Infante was my first first glimmer of hope.   In Infante we trust!!
