It's Browns Week

Bottom line is if they lose to Cleveland it's all for **** anyway and none of this season was worth a crap. I believe the heart of this current team minus Rodgers will be shown on the field this week. After that I'll take my chances moving forward with 12 leading the way and hope things work out in their favor.

For the thin thread the hopes for this season were hanging on, King to IR pretty much shuts it down for me.  They really couldn't afford to lose anyone of value in the secondary.  Does that bump Randall back out to the boundary?

Time to play spoiler!  The tables are turned but I hope these guys treat Dec. 23 as their SB.

This has nothing to do with the Browns game, but I learned today that a good friend of mine died in his sleep last night.  72 years old.  We found each other at a sports bar in 1994 watching the Packers, don't remember the game.  Been watching with him ever since.

Two years ago he and I and another buddy went to an outdoors show (local South Carolina version of Ducks Unlimited) where they had an auction.  4 tickets for any Panthers home game were one of the items, 50 yard line, maybe 20 rows up.  Pack is visiting that year, so we'll go up to $600 and split four ways (with my son as the fourth).  We get to $500 and we're about to win, and I said something like "we're gonna get them."  He thought I told him to bid, so he did.  Ended up costing us $550.  We went, had a great time, Packers almost came back.  That was the game Newton ripped the Packer banner down in the end zone.

He would've loved x4.  Most negative guy I've ever watched games with.  Lots of examples, but here's my favorite:

Great play to seal a great victory.  Go to about the 30 second mark.  Rouse does his leap.  What does Alan have to say about the play?  "I thought he was supposed to be an athlete?  Can't even jump into the stands."

Sorry to derail a bit.  RIP, Alan.

From JSO: To replace King on the 53-man roster, the Packers activated Demetri Goodson from the physically unable to perform list. Goodson did not practice Wednesday because he was nursing a hamstring injury.

When I first saw this I thought it has to be a joke right?  I saw where Simms picked the Browns this week and man I am getting nervous.

Browns are 6th best run defense (yds / game allowed), but are 6th worst in pts allowed, and 17th in passing yards allowed. They are -19 in turn-over margin, and are one of the worst in time of possession. CLE has a 31% 3rd down success, which is dead last in the league.

Even with a limited passing game, the Packers should win this game if they stick to the run game. 40+ rush attempts is needed.

Deshon Kizer to Josh Gordon.

I'm already firing up the Bong & shaking my head in disgust.

With Josh Gordon in single coverage against Randall, House, or Goodson? I'm guessing Goodson since Dom will figure  what better way to reward a long, arduous rehab than by throwing him immediately into the deep end of the pool and seeing if he can survive.

I've seen enough improvement in the team the past couple weeks under Hundley that I think they find a way to win.  3 weeks ago I probably favor the Browns, but I think the Pack gets it done.

I will say this, the Browns will treat this as their Super Bowl knowing they face a team vulnerable without Rodgers.  It's one of their last chances for a win.

If they win this and they beat the Bears in a couple weeks, they could lose the #1 overall pick.  I know players don't care about that, but you better believe that the front office wants the top pick.  Do you think that impacts the decision making within the organization?  I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

So sorry you lost your friend, Brak. My sympathy to you and his family. Hugs.

pboi  -  from what I read, no scan until after the Browns game. The scan can limit healing so what I read was he had one right after the surgery and then will wait till the last moment before the next scan and possible activation to the 53.

Since he technically can't be activated until week from tomorrow, he probably gets scanned Thursday after practice. Then if cleared, he is activated on Friday (15th).

The issue with waiting all the way to next Thursday to x-ray him, is who then practices with the 1's all week next week (assuming the Pack wins Sunday)?

Rodgers would benefit from being with the 1's all week and shaking off the rust as much as he can. If the scan shows it's not healed quite yet, then there would be no point in having him practice all week with the 1's. That should then be #7.

According to local blabber I heard on the radio today, the Packers would have likely not put him in pads unless they already knew or felt almost certain he's good to go. Rationale being, no wouldn't be hit in padded practice, but yes he's running around the field full speed and could fall or risk some inadvertent contact. The mood in the locker room was apparently pretty upbeat today as well.

We won't find out the answer to that question until next week after the Packers take on the Cleveland Browns. According to Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin, the Packers will have Rodgers' collarbone scanned at that time. The reason the Packers aren't doing it now is they don't want extra radiation being pumped into his body according to Wilde.
