Big test with the run game with EZ-E coming to 1265.

Per Lacy, he was able to walk on his ankle last night and doesn't think it's that bad. But with this conservative medical staff, I never assume anything. If Lacy can't go, I can't see TT having Starks as the only option. I'd assume he picks up someone yes?

Not sure if this is good news or bad news, but Lacy's previous ankle sprains (2013 and 2015) were both to the right ankle. This one is left.

McCarthy says we will see how Eddie is when he gets on the field tomorrow. He is not a fan of changing players midstream. Just need to punt it better. Janis was over farther than he should have been on the pass to Jordy. Abbrederis has a role. Depends on the game situation.

Not talked about enough. Why is Janis running coverage to Jordy? I swear that guy has a football IQ of 0.0.

I saw Lacy get hit on TV. The NYG defender dove at Lacy from the left, hitting Lacy between the knee and the ankle. Lacy's left foot was planted with his spikes firmly in the turf. Instead of his leg sliding to the right, his ankle rolled over when he went down. I'm hoping it is only a minor sprain.

Was this the first game that Janis and Jordy were on the field together this season?

I can't think of a team I despise more than the Cowboys, and with the Queens and Bears rivalry, and other teams like the Cheatriots, that's really saying something.

The vikings are my most despised team and always will be. The Cowboys are my number two most despised team and they will always be number 2, to me.

Ah yes the Cowboys are #2 for sure (and I don't necessarily mean second place).  The Queens stand alone as my most hated football team but the Cowpies are not far behind at all.  From their huge amount of bandwagon fans, to ESPN and its constant Cowboys ball washing, to the mega million dollar practice field, people still insisting they are America's team etc.  And a .500 record over the last 20 years.  UGH

I find myself not hating this version of the Cowboys team like I did the Michael Irvin led Cokeboys of the '90s.   There's still time for me to hate them yet, but I've basically found myself enjoying watching them jam the ball down other team's throats.

I don't think they'll be able to do that vs. the Pack though.  The Pack has been 1000% better against the run this year than I ever thought they would be.  Still, all it takes is a couple times where guys miss a tackle or don't fill their gap correctly and Elliot can take it to the house.  He is one talented dude.  Keep him under control and I think the Pack wins.

Prescott is good and maybe someday could even be very good, but I think he'll fall short in maybe the toughest road test he's had yet this season.

Here’s a preview of what to watch for when the Green Bay Packers host the Dallas Cowboys for a 3:25 p.m. kickoff Sunday afternoon.

1. The Packers' run defense vs the Cowboys' rushing offense.

Expect to hear about this matchup all week leading up to Sunday’s game. The Packers are on a historic pace when it comes to stopping the run and the Cowboys have the No. 1 rushing offense in the league.

The Packers have been playing the majority of games in their nickel personnel, meaning they’ve had only two defensive linemen on the field most of the time.

That could change against Dallas. The Cowboys are coming off a game in which they absolutely manhandled their opponent up front. Playing more base, and getting an extra big body on the field, may be the way to go for Dom Capers.

With that said, the reason the Packers have been so successful against the run so far is due to excellent team defense. They aren’t just beating people up front, they are doing a great job spilling runs for linebackers and safeties to clean up.

All of that will be put to the test by Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys' run game. Elliott is coming off a 134-yard, two-touchdown performance. The Packers will have their hands full with the rookie.

2. Dez Bryant’s status for the game

Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant has missed the team’s last two games with a hairline fracture in his knee. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show Tuesday morning that Bryant's status for Sunday’s game is “uncertain.”

The Packers could catch a big break if Bryant is unable to go, especially if cornerback Sam Shields is forced to miss another game due to the concussion he suffered in Week 1 in Jacksonville.

Though the young secondary looked much improved against the Giants' passing attack Sunday, much of that had to do with being able to play two deep safeties the majority of the night. Capers won’t have that luxury against the Cowboys and their running game.

3. Packers get a second chance to win with Brett Favre in the house

It set up perfectly for the Packers last year on Thanksgiving. Brett Favre was in attendance, as was Bart Starr, to celebrate the retiring of Favre’s number at halftime of their game against the Chicago Bears.

On a windy, rainy evening — the kind on which Favre had led the Packers to victory countless times against the Bears — the Packers fell apart. Instead of capping off a festive day meant to help immortalize one of the franchise’s greatest players, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers played a poor game and sent Packers fans home to sulk with their Thanksgiving leftovers.

Well, this week the Packers get another chance to help honor the player who some would argue is close to solely responsible for professional football remaining in Green Bay after decades of futility.

The Packers will be wearing their throwback uniforms Sunday from the 1937-48 era. But it’s the 1996-97 championship era that will be on most people’s minds when Favre is honored at halftime. Green Bay gets another shot at sending their fans home happy with a victory while a franchise great looks on.

Sounds like CB Sam Shields has taken another step in the concussion protocol. "He's been in the meetings, he's making progress," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. Shields hasn't played since Week 1.

Eddie Lacy's ankle a lingering concern; status unknown for Cowboys game

GREEN BAY, Wis. – If Eddie Lacy plays on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, he’ll do it without a full week of practice.

The Green Bay Packers running back won’t be on the field for Wednesday’s practice and instead will spend that part of the afternoon trying to strengthen his sprained left ankle. Lacy was unable to finish last Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants.

“He'll be in the rehab program today,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said before Wednesday’s practice.

If Lacy can’t play against the Cowboys, the Packers might have to make a roster move. They have only two other backs on the roster – struggling halfback James Starks, who is averaging just 1.8 yards per carry, and fullback Aaron Ripkowski, who despite his impressive 13-yard gain against the Giants is not a natural ball carrier.

McCarthy has used receivers Randall Cobb (five carries for 12 yards) and Ty Montgomery (two carries for 0 yards) out of the backfield this season with limited success.

They have one running back, rookie Don Jackson, on the practice squad, but Jackson did not play in a single preseason game this summer.

“We're still evaluating some things,” McCarthy said. “We'll see how Eddie moves around today in the rehab."

McCarthy indicated Monday that Lacy’s injury was not a long-term concern.

McCarthy on Lacy: He’ll be in the rehab program. We’re still evaluating things. We’ll see how he does in rehab today.

Suspensions? No word/moves on Pennel or Goodson?

McCarthy on Pennel and Goodson: Need to find out where those guys are. We’ll find out after practice.

Sounds like they practiced today. I assume physicals, etc also took place. Are roster moves due by Saturday? IIRC I believe it that's the day they would be activated by?

RE: Starks. Scouts, former NFL players, chiming in on him in the last couple weeks have stated the main issue is lack of reps. When you are getting extremely limited carries, it's very hard to get going and get into any kind of rhythm.

Not saying that is THE issue, but I think there's a valid point there. He's averaging 6 attempts A GAME. Including 1 attempt against DET. Extremely hard to get it going with such crap opportunities.
