So Brewers lead reds 9-2 Brewers ready to bat in the 8th. Phillies lose to the Braves 6-3. So the Brewers will only be 1 game back after tonight. Renfroe is 4 for 4 with 2 homers and 5 RBI. Burnes sort of back on track. 102 pitches, 6 1/3 innings, 4 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 8K.

Taking 3 out of 4 on the road is usually great, regardless of who theyâre playing. Really could have used a sweep though. Gonna need some help
Upcoming scedule: Brewers host Cards for 2, host Miami for 4 and then Diamondbacks for 3. Padres host Dodgers for 3, then host White Sox for 3 and finish by hosting Giants for 3. Phillies finish on the road, 3 at Cubs, 3 at Washington and then 3 at Houston. Yep, going to need some help. Not sure where it is going to come from tho.
The good news is of their remaining 9 games it appears Woodruff and Burnes will get 2 more starts apiece and at least for now Peralta is penciled in for a start in Miami series.
My understanding is Milwaukee does not have tiebreakers with either SD or Philly so I would think they need to win 6 of 9 to put themselves in a decent position. San Diego has the toughest path of those 3 teams for sure.
The two games against STL are critical. If they can win both I think they will put themselves in a really good spot for the last week. If for some reason they lose both, that might be it for the season.
Willy Adames has 96 RBI on the year. In order to get to 100 I think he has to hit 4 more homers. Nobody gets on base for him to drive in.

That's most of their team.
The 1982 Brewers were the best offensive team in Brewer history. They hit 216 home runs in 162 games.
The 2022 Brewers may end up with more home runs than that 1982 team. They have 213 home runs in 154 games.
The difference is the 1982 team had 843 RBIs. The 2022 team has 680. There is almost a full run difference despite the same number of home runs.
Phillies lose so at least we stay even if no comeback vs. Cards.

Brewers get at least one in the 8th as Yelich pinch hits and draws a bases-loaded walk. Get a few more (bases still loaded no one out) and they'll be able to send one of their weak relievers in to get some outs.

It helps big time when a guy like Woodruff can hit the mound and you know he likely wonât give up much if anything. He may be pitching the best of his career right now.
Since returning in late June, heâs started 17 games and has only allowed 26 earned runs over 103 innings. His strikeout to walk ratio over that stretch is almost 5 to 1. Heâs also giving up (only) about 1 HR for about every 10 innings pitched.
With the remaining 7 games, it appears Milwaukee will get Burnes two more starts and Woodruff at least one more start but the upcoming 5 games wonât be easy. Miami has a very underrated starting pitching staff and while AZ isnât anything special Zach Gallen is really good and it appears he will start game 1 against the Brewers.

He came in and struck out the side. Looked like a HS pitcher vs little league players. Lost his control the next inning but plenty of heat on the fastball.
