QB problem? What problem?

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Mike McCarthy isn’t pulling a Sean McDermott when it comes to his quarterback.

The Green Bay Packers coach said after Sunday’s shutout loss to the Baltimore Ravens that he plans to stick with Brett Hundley, and he reiterated it a day later with another vote of confidence for his struggling fill-in for Aaron Rodgers.

“I’ll just say it again: I believe in Brett Hundley. I believe in Brett Hundley as a quarterback, and I believe he will improve,” McCarthy said Monday. “And that’s where we are.”

Snip-

“Anytime your passing game isn’t quite what you want it to be, the first thing, and it’s the baseline, is you just have to look at the timeclock,” McCarthy said. “Every play design has a timeclock as far as the protection, creating the proper platform to give the quarterback and the receivers the timeclock to win.

So whether it’s the releases or breaking points of the perimeter group, or is it the footwork and the release of the football, we need to be better there, and that will definitely be a focus for Brett this week.”

Hundley crumbled under pressure against the Ravens, who sacked him six times. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Hundley was pressured (sacked or under duress) 18 times, the most for a Packers quarterback since 2015. Hundley threw two of his three interceptions and lost a fumble when pressured.

“I thought he actually did a good job getting to the perimeter and creating time in the scramble phase, but I don’t think our scramble spacing was quite what it could be,” McCarthy said. “That’s something that we’ll focus on as an emphasis this week from the offense’s perimeter. It will come out of the self-scout segment of our game plan.”

Umm, Mike. Hundley had plenty of space to step up. He just didn't do it. just like he didn't do it in previous games. Oh, and UCLA. #nothingnew

I don't believe the Packers can have a better defensive performance against the Steelers than what they did against the Ravens. They stepped up to play and did well.

I wholeheartedly believe that Hundley can throw more interceptions to the Steeler's defense than he did the Ravens. He doesn't step up into his throws or the pocket.

This would be a tall order if Rodgers was playing and the D looking like they’ve been looking. Spriggs at RT. One dependable RB now that Mays has 3 NFL carries and 2 fumbles.

I just hope Hundley finds something, anything in practice this week. He’s got to show a semblance of an ability to lead this offense.

GB is not going to win Sunday night. But they have to compete.

Not sure what that would do. If you heard MM's post-game presser yesterday he basically made it seem like Hundley had the best week of practice of any player he's ever seen.

Apparently that didn't carry over to Sunday.

The biggest concern I have RE: Hundley now is that throwing that red zone INT to start the Ravens game, a terrible decision/throw, took what little confidence he'd built in a single Q the week before and threw it right down the schitter.

It's not at all far fetched to believe in front of a national audience and coming off a bad performance he's going to be a deer in headlights this week. That he's facing the 3rd ranked passing defense in the NFL does him no favors.

MM and Van Pelt will have one hell of a task trying to build this kid up this week.

Why do I feel it won't go well...

Are we sure he was practicing football?

The Pack's defense looked good yesterday because it was against an extremely inept offense. History shows the better QBs shred the defense, and I have no expectation for that to change for this game.

Believe it or not, including the last 3 games with Hundley, the Steelers aren't significantly better on offense, statistically speaking. But their defense will dictate this game. I look for them to stack the box vs the run, and when we're forced to pass, their pass rash will easily overwhelm both our OL and Hundley.

I don't know that they will score 40 or more points, but 30+ wouldn't surprise me. We may be able to limit their rushing, but without a pass rush to pressure Rapistberger, and our soft coverage in the back end, I'm afraid he will have the time to pick us apart.

Steelers are usually pretty classy. They ain't like the Patriots or Vikings.

I can see them taking their foot off the pedal if they're up by 3 or 4 scores in the 4th Q.

Line is at 13.5 points right now.

Didn't the line start out at around 18 points?  I wonder when the last time was our Packers were this much of an under dog?

This is one game even when I saw the schedule come out last spring when I thought "well that one is a loss" but now?  I think for the first time in years I just hope the Packers opponent has mercy on them.

Started at 14 and the biggest spread since the 2010 game in NE with Flynn at QB. I'll be pleased if the Packers just don't embarrass themselves.

I think we'll see a lot of their backup QB handing off to backup RBs in the second half.

Where I hope they have some mercy is whoever is lining up across from Spriggs if he has to play.

And if it's TJ Watt lining up across from Spriggs, this board may explode after the result of that matchup.

Good. Keep Spriggs on the sidelines where he belongs.

Hundley is going to play like 4th Quarter vs. Bears Hundley.

Packers will lose but probably cover that +13.5 point spread.

It's been 25 years since we've seen this level of medocrity. It always seems like when the Packers are against the wall, they play well.

Although with Clark & Clay out I don't see how the defense can do anything vs. the Steeler offense. Maybe Big Ben will revert to early season Big Ben & give us 5 INT's. Maybe the Pack can squeak out a win by 3 if that happens.

Biegel gets through for a sure sack.

As Daniels hits Rapestburger at the same time, 45 gets dragged down and chomps on the package.

1/2 sack but a mouthfull of **** yeah.  Benny  leaves the game.

Mark it down.
