I suspect we will see plenty of the 4-1-6 formation on defense if we can't keep Cooks contained with a LB. Not a bad idea, since it plays to the 2 biggest strengths of our defense.
Offensively, everything  will hinge from OL performance, or lack thereof. It's time for those guys to put their big boy pants on, and hitch 'em tight. It doesn't get any easier this week; as matter of fact, they may be facing an even better pass rush.

With that said, and considering ARod's health, I'd like to see our offense scheme to provide maximum protection and help open up the running game. Most of our depth is at TE and WR, so play to those strengths. Use 2 TE formations, and motion WRs towards the interior of the field.
I recall a few seasons back when a BIG deal was being made of how quickly ARod was getting his throws off. The networks even used a timer on their broadcasts! I don't know why it hasn't had the same emphasis over the last few seasons, but this may be a good week to utilize plays made to do just that.

Timmy, we've all been begging for that for years but we only get it in spurts.   I suspect we do what we do next Sunday until #12 has had the snot knocked out of him and then maybe we will go to more quick read options.

Trey Wayne's got hurt yesterday. Hammy. Might be out.

I think Jimmy Graham will be YOOOOOOGE in this game.

With all the holding Trey Waynes does, you'd think he'd be out with of action with  sprained wrists. I agree on Graham. This game could be huge for him. I see Cousins as just an average QB waiting to be exposed. I think our DBs will do just that.

I really do not want to see MM calling running plays, over and over again, that end up getting stuffed at the line. Those A-Gap running plays against Chicago were driving me nuts. We need Jamaal Williams to block blitzes like he did in the Chicago game and we might need TE help with the pass rush.Maybe we use a three TE set?  Here's hoping MM, Pettine and Philbin are in sync with each other all week. I don't want to say anything nice about the vikings or their fans, so I won't! I'd hate to break with a valued tradition.

If the Vikings children on this board can stay out, I would appreciate that. Trash talking can go to the NFC North board. I would rather candidly talk about the game here.

The Vikings are so much better than us, it's not funny, except at the magic position. QB! And at the two tackle positions, I guess. To beat those guys at Minny, everyone needs to raise their level of play and Arod needs to be Arod.

I am not entirely sure that the gap between the Packers and Vikings is as huge as many think. Now I do agree that the spermheads D is better but I am still not sold that their offense is better than the Packers.  I do think that the Packers HAVE to start quickly in this game and get a lead.  The Packers simply can't afford to have a sluggish start and the leadership on this team needs to make sure everyone understands that.

One other thought I have is that I bet #12 is going to be very motivated to beat that team this week and that right there I think gives us a shot.

Cook is a lot better than anything we can drag out there next week, and I think Thielen and Diggs are better than Adams and Cobb. That one is close though. Our line is better.

Their defense is better than ours at every position, but then again, that defense has to face #12. Ours doesn't.

There defense is strong across the board, but Daniels and Clark as almost as good as any interior DL duo in the league. Clark is an elite DL who is still only 23 years old. He's the one elite draft pick from the disasters that were the 2015 and 2016 TT draft (Martinez and Lowry and even Montgomery are decent picks - the other 11 are just awful).

Yeah, forgot about Mike Daniels. He's better than Sheldon Richardson, although Richardson was an absolute monster yesterday.

I'm not sure if this had anything to do with his monster game, but SF was down to their 3rd string OG.

I am not sure how the Packers can compete. The Vikings have the most talented team in the history of the NFL. Just ask their fans. Cousins is so much better than Rodgers, the Vikings coach is legendary and will be seen as Lombardi-Shula-Bellichech- esque in just a few short years. Their GM never makes any mistakes in teh draft and probably have the deepest team in depth that has ever been established. The team should just stay in Minnesota this weekend and have their staff throw their helmets on the field and get the Packers to forfeit. The last qb they faced was scared according to their defensive linemen. Packers have no chance. Vikings win 100 to nothing and the game wont be that close.

I think we should petition the Packers to just forfeit the game.  There is no way our Packers should even step on the field with the mighty Vikings.

Everywhere I go on the internet right now I see comments from Vikings fans with diarrhea of the mouth.  They yap a lot for a team that hasn't won anything significant in 40+ years.   I hate them and their team so much I will personally deliver some grape crush for Aaron to drink during his post game presser.

You cooking out with Jaymo this weekend?

Perfect for one of those motivational posters. Maybe a nice frame. Things like 41-0, This is not Detroit man, 0-4, Gary Anderson softly silhouetted in the background. Great grillout present.

The Green Bay Packers claimed CB Deante Burton off of waivers from the Atlanta Falcons, placed WR Trevor Davis on injured reserve, signed CB Will Redmond to the practice squad and released S Marwin Evans from the practice squad. The transactions were announced Tuesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

I guess the Bears ran into Aaron Rodgers instead.

BTW, time is running out to visit the NFC North forum and place your bets with the captive Vikings' fans.  Got $100 with Jaymo.  He doesn't want my money because he's highly successful and I'm poor, so $75 goes to an animal shelter, and $25 goes to Boris.

I can't imagine someone who talks so much **** and is as well to do as Jaymo would turn down any bet you guys are willing to offer.

Sounds more Safety to me but I'm guessing ST.

Considering the absolute dearth at OLB I'm wondering if the backfield is going to be a swarm of angry bees with a lot of safety blitzes.

Scouts: Vikings better everywhere but QB (if it's Aaron Rodgers)

Both the NFC scout and AFC scout agreed that the Vikings, also 1-0 after their opening win over the 49ers, were better than the Packers in every area except quarterback, while the AFC scout added that the two teams were practically equal on the offensive line and perhaps in the secondary.

Hard to argue that overall the Queens don't have the better roster.

Screw that noise! Didn't the vikings basically have the same defense last season? That defense choked on a big bone in the NFCCG, didn't they? I see an overrated purple defense getting shredded on Sunday. I see Aaron Rodgers looking for retribution. I see a porous purple Oline and a frightened, average at best, QB getting pummeled by our defense on a regular basis. Mr. Daniels, Mr. Wilkerson, Mr. Clark, Mr. Lowery, Mr Adams, I'd like you to meet Mr. Cousins. Often. You too, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Perry and Mr. Fackrell. Come on Pettine scheme up some blitzes and pressures for the Green and Gold!  I'll definitely have the Packer Radio Network on this Sunday so as to avoid any whining or talk of how great things are in the ho-hum, look-at-me State.

That’s okay, there’s a reason quality of roster is not how they decide games. Rodgers didn’t get the opportunity to pick apart the “vaunted” Vikings D last year, so I’m sure he’s excited to do some damage.

OL? Going into training camp, I'd agree.

Now? They have had a slew of injuries on the OL. Their swing tackle (back up to their starters) just went on IR, they lost their starting center, traded for one from the Giants, who also have OL problems, lost LG Easton for the season and at one point, had their 3rd center playing before trading.

Viking OL is a mess and it showed some in week one against the Whiners.

McCarthy says it's encouraging Aaron Rodgers is able to participate some in practice. He expects Rodgers' availability to be "day by day" for Vikings. I wouldn't expect to willingly telegraph their plan to the Vikings, certainly.

If I'm MM, I'd be playing possum til about 1159am on Sunday if I can. Why give the Queens any early idea?

No pulling punches:

Vikes are going to be up in the WR's face with 2 deep Safeties.    They know that #12 is going to what to get the ball out on time this week because of lack of mbility.

OL is going to have to hold up and win the one on ones to give the WR an extra second to shake free.     We need to be able to run the ball, we need the screen game to be on point and we need Jimmy Graham down the middle splitting those safeties.
