Matchups are so critical and when starting defensive players get injured, the offense finds more matchups that favor them. Look at Vikes game, when Rhodes & Sandejo got injured the Saints started to dominate. Even when Rhodes returned to the game they had gassed the Vikes pass rush, went 5 WRs, and got matchups they liked.

Missing Shazier may not be the reason JAX scored 45 but it could be the reason they scored more than 43.

PIT D was looking very good until he went out.  Then BAL and CLE had their way with it.  BAL & CLE.

Ok.

This is kinda fukked up:

Big Ben says he’s not allowed to check to a fourth-and-1 quarterback sneak

In Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars, the Steelers twice got stopped on fourth-and-1. On both plays, there appeared to be room in the middle of the line for Ben Roethlisberger to run a quarterback sneak for a yard. So why didn’t he?

Roethlisberger says he isn’t allowed to check out of the play that offensive coordinator Todd Haley calls and go to a quarterback sneak instead, even if he can see by the way the defense lines up that he’ll get the first down.

On his radio show this morning, Roethlisberger said it’s head coach Mike Tomlin’s call not to give him the freedom to audible at the line of scrimmage to a quarterback sneak.

“I have asked for it. I am fine with it. If they want to call it, I’m all for it,” Roethlisberger said, via Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network.

Uh-Oh.  Trouble brewing in Steel Country.  IF that is true, it's just dumb.  Roethlisberger should be able to to audible in that situation.   I think Haley, Tomlin, and Big Ben need to go out for a beer.

I recall reading somewhere Roethlisberger does not think much of Haley.

I suspect all top tier QBs at some point get to believing they know more of what will work. And they are likely right, being they are in the middle of the play as it is unfolding.
