We thought it was going to get better when they got rid of AJ Hawk, yet the defense kept right on sucking.

Hawk was a small part of a much bigger problem.  We’ll find out soon if Compers was the real problem. For the first preseason in ten years I’m feeling good about the defense.

The team bus could crash, knocking the all the defensive starters out for the season, and the unit would still be infinitely better because Dam Compers is gone.

There are two things I'm looking forward to seeing in week one. The return of AR-12 (with his freshly-signed red zone weapon at tight end), and no more keystone cop blown assignments in the secondary.

They have actually been worse without Hawk.

maybe he was not the problem?

I mean, they did win a SB with him at MLB.

He was not as bad as a lot of folks(myself included) say he was.

The defense should be strong from the get go because no one will know what to expect.  And for the record, the Vikings will go 6-6.

Does this mean the tie the other 4 games?

what am I missing here? I feel like there is some sort of a 6-6 joke here that I am not following...

He was that bad his final three years.

There was an online survey on one of the Minnesota news outlets a couple of seasons ago to predict the Vikings' record, and it went up to 12-0.

As for Hawk, I think he slowed down considerably from the SB season on.  He was also badly out of place on the fake FG everybody knew was coming in the NFCCG in Seattle.

The Vikings were suspended as a team for the other 4 games for not winning a SB in almost 60 years.

I'm excited about the Defense, but also a little worried that it is a whole new system and its the first year in it...what do ya think?

I am on that until the proves otherwise I am always worried about the defense.  I like to think that Pettine is going to bring that "attitude" to the defense but until I see it on the field I will be very cautiously optimistic.  Then of course is the injury factor they Packers have to be due for a healthy year right?

I am not a believer of the old trope "they can't get any worse", when it comes to the NFL and our D.  Not that I think they won't be better, at least certainly by November.  But things can always get worse in the NFL.  Ask Cleveland.

Nice purple ride.  Is this replacing the Love Boat this summer?

The video is just an visual image of the Vikings - a franchise that is out of control.  Most of us don't need a picture to see that.

Letdown the week after beating MIN.  I notice he doesn't have the universal love for the 49ers as a sleeper pick.

I don't see GB with #1 seed.  In fact I still see MIN taking the division after a fast start while our D gets settled in.  Anything can happen in the post season.

Could be 2010 all over again.
