OK... so i'm wrong (and would be happy to be)... but where is the consistency in this guy?

Part of his problem is lack of durability. Knee surgery, concussions, missed preseason time, etc... Maybe his routes are not optimal? I just think Gronk and Graham's hand are made of glue - those guys consistently haul in the tough balls. Plain vanilla was not going to cut it against a team like SF.

Remember the Arizona playoff game? Finley dominated. That's why he is on the field. He had more targets than ANY receiver today, I think MM and Arod disagree with the haters...

where was he against pittsburgh again? the giants?

Its funny because people always look at the Arizona game for his achievements..he hasnt done squat since... the guy is overrated.. that said,im giving him this year to redeem himself and be the player alot of people think he is
At a certain point you are what you are. Finley is top ten, but inconsistent TE with questionable hands and a highly emotional disposition. The onus is on him to show elevate his game if he wants to be better.

He's far from a bad player but he sure as hell isn't a top 5 player at his position either. He was made a central part of the game plan today. He can't talk enough about getting on the same page and being a big part of the offense. Did some nice things at times, got too wound up at times, and dropped a gimmee. It's not unfair to call him a guy filled with false confidence.

Football games come down to a handful of plays. He's been on the wrong side of those handful of plays a number of times. Doesn't mean I want him off the team or that he can't make some plays but I sure as shhh don't trust him as a focal point of the offense . The next time he plays a consistent full game will be the first time in a long time.
Finley drives you crazy because you see at times the glipses of dominance, but then when they really need the play (i.e. the 3rd and short late) he doesn't execute. I don't know if it's concentration or what, but the dude is not a Top 5 TE in my book until he learns to make all the plays.

They are still a much better team with him than without him but the drops are just killers.
so the standard for the guy is, he is either a top 5 TE or a bum (not directed at you T in particular, but that has come up before).

The guy is a really good TE who made some good plays for us. The third down conversion was a catchable ball, but I don't know why that defines him for some of you.

And do we really think he hurt his ankle, then his knee, then was perfectly fine?

one play I didn't like yesterday was when both Fin and AR correctly read a MLB blitz yet Fin didn't cut his route short like AR thought he was gonna and that's where AR was gonna go with the ball and then didn't have any other options. between the TE and QB that's got to be automatic. get yer head in the game Finley.

can't win games with a sorrowful run defense and a secondary that doesn't know who they're covering or when to react to their zone. watched Bush line up against Moss, back pedal with him just fine but he didn't even attempt to close when he should have and Bush had safety help. Moss caught the ball for a 14 yard completion and bush was still 5 yards off him.
