I thought it was 2 or 3. If it's 2, of course I should have put down 32.

32 is a high number. One of them was a killer.

I am all for projecting Finley's stats - the good and the bad. The good is wonderful, the bad can sometimes be rather wretched.

I won't dismiss the good, but I sure will groan when I see the bad (which I did yesterday on that 3rd and 3) and I sure do hope the dropsies are reduced.
Maybe, just maybe, he's not as good as we think/hope. He's certainly not as good as he thinks he is. It's starting to look like his one great year may have been an aberration and this is who Finley is. So why don't we give Williams a better look? In TC everyone raved about his catching everything thrown his way. Perhaps he should get more snaps and targets. Or put Finley and Williams out there together and see what happens.

Agree, there were two plays, one was clear PI that was not called.

Post game radio stated Finley had one drop, I don't know if they have the official Packer stats or not but they always seem pretty confident with their numbers when discussing the games.

I agree with Shoeless that the drop he had was a bad one so it may count for 2. Big Grin

Heck, I don't know that anybody wants to right now.
One play he whiffs on completion or drops it; the next he makes an oustanding snag in mid-air with perfect body control. I guess that's why it's so frustrating, knowing he has the talent to be a top-tier TE, but is too inconsistent, to put it as kindly as possible.
Tonight, in addition to the above, he had a horrible (non)block on a WR screen, IIRC. No matter the play, it couldn't have been a bigger whiff, and it promptly blew up the play, of course.

Given all this, I have no problem with Williams getting some reps in practice, and see if he's ready for a bigger opportunity. I'd be surprised to see Finley replaced as the starter, but stranger things have happened...
Good comment regarding the "tease"

However, jf teases due to the fact that he's a specimen. There are plenty of superb athletes that never achieve on the field. In contrast, Jason Whitten was never one, but he could sure get open, catch, AND block in his prime.

I hope tt and mm have a short leash with the guy - particularly since he's a hothead. The ultimate prize was won without him, and that's all any of us should want, regardless of any stats.
I wonder what his yearly projections are now.

I don't think Finley had many touches. With that in mind, I would like to see the percentage of touches that are drops. It gives clarity to the picture.

Like if he had 3 touches and 1 drop, that is a 33% drop rate.

It's really a drag. Some time ago, I saw the great regular season game against the Steelers a couple years back. In that and the Cardinals playoff game, he was an unstoppable beast. THAT Finley? Hell, I would take him over Graham and Gronkowski.
As I play amateur psychologist, judging from Finley's reactions after the drops this year he seems to be putting extreme pressure on himself.

Hopefully he can just settle down and relax and start being the playmaker we all thought he would be (remember offering him for LFitz with a serious face?).

I will say that I suspect he still draws plenty of attention that opens stuff up for other guys. I don't think any of the other three offer the same amount of attention (dare I say respect?) that Finley draws despite the drops.
Finley is great to have on this team. One of a multitude of offensive weapons. Another threat the opposing D has to game plan for. And another potential game changer at any time.

But the offense isn't based around his play. And several other players, whether currently on the roster or players down the road, would be able to step in and fill the void if he departed.

He signed a very fair contract, and I'm glad he's on the team. But I've stopped dreaming he'll be an elite TE. If he can stay healthy and just be hang on to the balls that he should catch, I'd be happy. Otherwise, I'd be fine with DJ, Crabby, Taylor or Quarless get some reps.
No reason to cut Jones and Finley. It's not the money in 2013 that would hinder a Jennings deal, it's the money in 2016 and 2017 that would prevent a deal. All depends on Jennings willing to take a hometown discount. TT will never pay a receiver over $10m a year, which is what Jennings will get on the open market. I could see TT offering $7m or $8m a year over 5 years. Hope Jennings will take that.

But at the end of the day, TT has to pay Rodgers, CMIII and Raji as top young players at their positions in the next 12 months. Then after that, TT has to look at Burnett and Bulaga, two more players that i think will be pro bowlers before their rookie deals are up. And this team would suffer much more if we lost one if those five vs Jennings. With Nelson on his way to becoming a legit #1 WR, Cobb proving to be in his way to a top slot WR, and TT's obvious eye for WR talent, i don't think it would be that crazy to let Jennings go. We'd also get at least a 3rd round compensatory pick, maybe even a fourth too.
