The Eagles game was much worse because Hurts is an A level running QB, but a B- at best passer. He did make some throws to beat them, but make him keep doing that. If he throws for 5 TDs that sucks, but at least it's making them win by doing something other than their strength (especially with their TE out and no real threat from that position in the passing game). Don't let the Eagles beat you by continuing to run the ball down your throat.

What the announcer said in the Cowboys game is a damning indictment of Barry. You MATCH the pressure package to the COVERAGE package. Don't bring the heat with a soft zone. Match up your people man to man when you bring the heat, which HE DIDN'T do for the Titan.

Moron. He's an utter MORON. And I think every defender that starts knows it.

Does Barry have a California education?

Seems to be a common problem for the defense.
Look at these gems that the Eagles converted Sunday night:

This doesn't include 2nd down conversions, one of which was a 2nd and 12 play.

Said "I believe in my guys" Asked that after the disappointment in the defenses play this season would there be anything he would do differently , he said "I never second guess , I consistently teach what I believe in with energy and wouldn't change anything" WTF !!!!! The only success Barry ever had as a DC was last season with this same group. It's great that he believes his animated encouragement is effective. But I think I'd rather see and hear from someone who can tell me wtf the problems are and what they're doing to correct them. They were historically bad on Sunday night, and this guy wouldn't change a thing.

I was a small child when every year Bart Starr would plead his case to the board and he'd be retained on a one year basis. That only led to nearly ten more years of bottom dwelling. If there is any hesitation after five more games about whether or not to axe this guy, it spells serious trouble at 1265. Three years til MM is gone, correct? Maybe they think the lack of fans inside Lambeau will be offset by more sledders.

Joe Barry called Sunday’s game at Philly “a bad display of tackling” but he did not think it was a lack of effort. He said they’ve worked on “leverage and population to the ball.” He thinks they’ve tackled, “fairly well this year” after having a “great tackling year” last year.

You are rong about Starr's coaching record.   In his last 3 years he was 8-8 which was second in the NFC North. in 1982 he was 3rd in the NFC strike shortened year and won a playoff game, 41- 16 over the Cards.  He finished 8-8 the next season and then was fired by the inept Judge Parrins.

Bart even admitted he was not ready to be a head coach when he accepted the job, but felt he owed it to the Packers because of all they had done for him.

He was also the offensive play caller in 1972, the only year Devine went to the playoffs.   He was far from a bottom dweller.

However, they do show that he has 25 years coaching experience, 20+ years exclusively as a DB coach. And he had a bad-ass defense as a DC in Buffalo.
FWIW, Gregg Williams was the HC that hired him for that position. Regardless of personal opinions, he sure as hell knew how to build tough, hard-nosed defenses. I'd hope Gray learned a lot of that.

Jerry Gray

It was the Kansas City game last year when Gray filled in.  They had an air of aggressiveness not seen the rest of the year. It’s worth a try.  Can’t get any worse.  Get rid of Barry and show you have the balls people don’t think you have.

He talked about following the "process" ...I wish someone would have asked him "if the process is the same as last season, why are so many players playing much poorer than they did last season with the same process"?

Yeah, it was actually worse than bottom dwelling. Miss the playoffs at 8-8 and finish good enough to make it impossible to snag an impact player. I forgot how good those days were.

The defense was supposed to be the driving force behind the Green Bay Packers’ success. Instead, Joe Barry’s unit has driven the team off a cliff.

Fangio and Zimmer are the big names on that list. They both smell like Capers type hires to me. Probably would look like good hires for a few years then the game passes them by. I'd like to see a younger guy that's more likely to adapt as the game changes.

Whoever is D coordinator, Packers need a pass rush. Bears were the most sacked team in the league and nothing. If  Gary would have been playing, maybe they get 2 but that was pathetic

I believe that was by design. They sold out to keep Fields from running out of the pocket & the harder you rush the harder it is to do that.

Trading sacks for preventing gash runs.  I was impresses with the D keeping Montgomery in check though the cost may have been Fields ringing up some passing yards.
