Well considering the owners and commissioner of the league are all capitalists... I’m guessing that they have accountants and marketing/PR people that will tell them what the win/loss in $$$ is on hiring the guy.

If that assessment come out as 99% likely a money loss (even if a small $ loss) then he doesn’t get hired.

The question isn’t - is he better than the worst quarterback on a NFL roster currently?

the question is - does he make us money?

now he can do that in 2 ways - winning, successful teams sell more merch

or by personal popularity - the jerseys I own aren’t for players like tony mandarich.

”Kaepernick is the key to winning a Super Bowl this year” - said no one in 2019

apparently there aren’t enough people willing to buy a Kaepernick bengals jersey to pay him 3 million dollars (or whatever backups earn)

That's nice.  Again, it really isn't about Kaepernick now is it?

Besides, what are you doing in this thread?  I thought you had a hissy and left because of crap like this?

I generally think arguing with people on the internet is a waste of time.  That’s why I stopped posting.

As you can see I never “left”.   I still lurk for the info about draft picks, schedule changes, rumor mill stuff.

My job involves a lot of “hurry up and wait” events.   I’m currently stuck at work.  Nothing better to do....  shopping for x-mas presents on amazon too.  Watching Netflix....

I don't necessarily disagree that CK is better than many backup QBs currently on NFL rosters...  I think the reality is that he isn't THAT much better to make up for the shit show that comes with him.

Hard pass on that guy.

You're right.  I can't stress this enough, I really don't give two shits about the guy.  I personally have zero desire to see whatever cavalcade comes along with this clown. I don't care about his work out.  I don't care if he ever plays in the NFL again.

With that said, the NFL is chock full of shit as well.  The over reaction to this entire thing is fucking ludicrous.  Hate the guy, point out pig socks and whatever dumb ass things he says.  That still doesn't change the over the top reaction from Cooter Country and Cooter Country in Chief over a fucking kneel down.

We are one fucked up country with zero sense of priority in maintaining our democracy.  It's all over the place, left, right, who the fuck ever.  It's a god damn stinkin' hot mess.  This guy isn't some great thinker or leader he took a fucking knee with other players and the ensuing led by the nose public just ate it up like normal.

Fuck I hate people who can't think for themselves.

I think the losers the Redskins signed last year were a huge tier below even CK. He offers value, maybe he’s not a great passer, but you can’t pretend guys like Hundley and Kizer deserve(d) roster spots. It truly comes down to him or the NFL, one of them is preventing teams from signing him. It’s not about baggage or talent, plenty of guys have both. Belichick doesn’t care about baggage, he would ram CK’s ability as a runner down people’s throats all day IF it was possible. If C.K. was turning down offers due to salary demands or whatever, that would have been leaked immediately. I think it’s the NFL that doesn’t want to deal with this issue, not teams. The NBA just got hammered in the media, and rightly so, about their position on China...could you imagine how badly the NFL would bungle a frank discussion about race? They can’t even get their own penalties and refereeing correct, I think they know this also. It’s easier to bar him from the league than deal with his activism.

There are a decent number of people that have family that have served, been wounded and died in the name of the flag and the Republic for which it stands.  A decent number of those people do not appreciate a bunch of privileged millionaires, playing a game, disrespecting the flag that their family sees as a symbol of their sacrifice and honor.

I have a constitutional right of free speech that allows me to stand up in the middle of the sermon in church and swear at the pastor.  It’s not illegal.  Not everything that is legal is smart to do for attention.

It is socially unacceptable to a large number of people to disrespect the anthem and flag.   Kaepernick knows that the kneeling will be considered offensive.  That’s why he doesn’t kneel in the supermarket, it won’t make waves.  If he wants the publicity for his cause by doing something controversial, he needs to accept the consequences that are imposed upon him by others — that also have a free speech rights — to call him an entitled jack hole.

Those same people also have a first amendment right of freedom of association— and don’t have to watch the NFL, Kaepernick or more importantly pay for the privilege to do so....

The angry orange man —- also has a first amendment right to call Kaepernick anything he wants.

You have a right to hate him for it.  It is apparent you do.

Everyone is exercising their freedoms, the democracy (actually a democratic republic) is safe and sound, working exactly as it is supposed to.

Only if your standard of democratic ideals is ridiculously poor.  Get back to me on White Nationalism and its full on authoritarianism vs. a guy taking a knee for 500 years of oppression.   Also let me know how democratic it is for the most powerful man on the planet to target a citizen and make threats against the league.  Yeah, fucking democracy.

BTW, if you're going to rattle off the obvious try not to couch it as deep intellectual insight.

White nationalism is bad.   Last time I checked white nationalists make up about 0.000001% of the population of the USA.  There are no white nationalists I know of that are in elected office anywhere in the United States. (Unless you count the Democrat governor of Virginia that likes to dress in black-face, and refuses to resign)   Canada has liberal PM Treadeau that also likes to dress in black face.  Those are the only 2 overt racists I know of in politics.

as far as authoritative states, I haven’t read of anyone being dragged out into the street and being shot for speaking out against the government.  You know, the things that authoritative fascists do.   In fact there was TONS of property damage in DC during the inaugural and no-one served any time for the damage....

If Kaepernick is oppressed (having a net worth of 33 million or so) I hope to be as oppressed as he is one day.

———————————

“Also let me know how democratic it is for the most powerful man on the planet to target a citizen (with words)” ..... “everybody can say what they want. Deep.”

Apparently it’s so profound that you can’t grasp the concept.

The president has free speech too.  Kaepernick is engaging in political speech by kneeling.  They have a right to disagree.  They can EVEN say mean things about each other (gasp!, clutching pearls)

So actually the discourse between the two and the league, is actually the epitome of a functioning democracy —- you know one where we solve our differences with votes and debate (no matter how rude/crude the debate is) instead of bullets and blood....

Thank you for revealing yourself as a complete, standardized fucking idiot.  I will treat you as such.

I think I'm going to use this as my work email signature.

The shit show that comes with him is why teams have stayed away from him.  NFL teams more than any other sports teams will do whatever they can to avoid a circus atmosphere.  They don't want the crap that comes with over hyped players like Tebow, Manziel, and Kaepernick.

This seems like a good stopping point. I will summarize this thread for anyone who doesn’t want to read:

- Kaepernick is getting a workout with NFL teams

- He’s still a terrible QB

- He’s definitely being blackballed by the NFL

- There are only a handful of racists left in the world and most of them are Justin Trudeau

- Henry thinks someone is an idiot
