Handled his post game interview like a pro!
He has plenty of PS time (in Atlanta) to his credit. So he has that going for him.
He had a nice game.
It is pre-season, but I think our QB depth is much better than Hundley, Kizer, or Callahan ever were, and even better than T Hill and Boyle. I believe the QB room is in a better place than it was under the previous regime...
He certainly has a better release and arm strength.
Benkert shows the stuff I think coaches would want to see from their 'projects'; poised in the pocket, reading the defense and processing what he sees, decision making, keeping his eyes downfield when a play breaks down, etc., etc.
Too many other guys want to pull the ball down and take off running or heave a poor throw into double coverage under the first sign of pressure. I haven't seen that from Love or Benkert.
Likelihood that the team will be able to sneak him onto the practice squad have diminished dramatically.
Iβd rather be thin at 3rd string ILB than at QB. What? Like it would hurt our special teams?
I'd just like to be thin, period.

He will make the 53 then move to PS when Jace comes back
It happens every year. "Player XXXXX", there's NO way he will make the practice squad. He was so awesome in game 2!! Then 98% of the time he ends up on the PS.
Benkert, Boyle, etc. Are these guys as good as Blake Bortles, a guy you can sign off the street any time you get the itch for a backup QB? There's going to be over a dozen Benkert/Boyle/Bortles type guys out there next week with no spot on an NFL roster. All more than happy to sign a contract should Rodgers and Love both end up injured somehow.
Use that QB3 spot on a guy that might at least help out on ST's.

Not so certain Jace is coming back. I'd wager he's not. He can't run block and he's not special as a pass catcher.

He blocks better than Tebow so he's got that going for him.
Poor guy never had a chance once Pakrz started talking him up.

If they bring Drew Stanton out of retirement I'll really wonder who's actually calling the shots.

Iβm pretty much the kiss of death to any prospective football player. Wanna suck? Get me to support you. Death, taxes and Pakrzβ endorsing shitty football players.
not only impressed with his play but his post game analysis as well.

seems like a sharp kid who really understands the offense.
If theres any chance we're without 12 next year, Id hate to lose such a promising young QB that could challenge or at least push J-LO
He handled that press conference like a pro.

By the way, what do you think of Justin Fields?
Iβd ask Objective Bears Fan that question but he has Fieldβs balls in his mouth so itβs hard to understand him.
FWIW
GM Brian Gutekunst said he's not sure whether there will be any calls to trade for QB Kurt Benkert. He said he started receiving calls last week about potential deals and that discussions will go right up to the final cuts. Benkert is a clear No. 3 for GB.

βTrade Rodgers to the Bears so he can back-up Fields.β

Then make the trade. Benkert will do nothing here even if he outplays Nub. Hollow rhetoric.
Packers' mind made up about Jordan Love even if Kurt Benkert gave them something to think about
Gute would have made the trade, but Gute wanted 3 first round picks, 2 second round picks, 1 fourth rounder, and 2 sixth rounders, and the receiving team to pay ALL of Benkert's salary for the year. Then Gute could use those picks to trade up and draft a QB that could take Love's job. Nothing like solidifying QB drama in GB for the next 15 years.
All this over a QB version of Jake Kumerow. Actually that's a bit of an insult to Kumerow. At least he's been on a regular season roster.
Might have helped if he wouldn't have tripped over his OL's feet on two straight snaps...
If he does end up on the practice squad, he can live both dreams.
1. Collect an NFL paycheck and have a very low chance of having any type of serious injury.
2. With all the extra time on your hands from not being on the 53 man roster, continue your gaming career where you make more money than minimum wage NFL players.
