We are fortunate enough to root for a franchise that has had a number of signature wins over the years. Many in the playoffs, true, but significant and memorable. I count among those that time we went into San Francisco in the playoffs and Craig Newsome and Wayne Simmons kicked Steve Young's butt, or the time on the way to the Super Bowl where we flew to #1 seed Atlanta and Aaron played what Mike Ditka insisted was the best game by a QB he ever saw, on the way to a championship belt.

I even count last year's close opening day win over the Bears as a signature win, Aaron crowing afterward "We have a defense."

This Sunday night, we will witness another. I expect the talking heads to go on and on about the Pack being the inferior team, not being for real, flawed defense, etc. But what I saw last night was a second game in a row where Drew Brees showed his age and a Defense that we can work over. Yes, they have weapons, but I'll take Ty Montgomery replacing Michael Thomas.

Still it will be close, but I see us closing it out with a long time consuming drive late in the fourth quarter, Jamaal Williams capping it with a rushing TD and the Pack winning 45-34.  King will get an INT, Lazard another TD catch, Adams over 100 yards.

I see the Packers beating the Saints 28-24. Lazard is our top WR target, in this game, but MVS gets more yards on the deep throws from ARod. I see Jamaal Williams pounding away at the Saint's D Line and Aaron Jones cutting through the Saint's defense like a knife through warm butter. Toast, anyone? This is the game where Sternberger actually catches a pass from ARod. In fact, he will catch two and both will move the chains for the Packers. Lazard gets a TD, as does Dillon in the Red Zone. ARod runs for a TD from about the 5 yard line and Jones runs away from Saint's defenders for a score from around the 30 yard line. Crosby is good on all four PATs.  And that is just our Offense! Our Defense gets to Brees three times with Gary sacking him twice and Zadarious sacking him once, after being double teamed. King and Savage both find themselves with INTs, in this game. Packers 3-0. Saints 1-2.

I expect the Saints to run the ball much more than the 19 times they did against LV, especially if Thomas is out.     Not only because they saw that their pass O isn't no where near as effective without him but because they will see what happened to the Lions when they got too pass happy vs us.

Put Jaier on an Island against Sanders and bring those S's up to focus on stopping the rush should be the plan.   Given that Angry Bald Man typically wants to focus on pass d first, I doubt that they do this.   The results are methodical time consuming drives that keep the ball away from us.

On the other side of the ball, they only thing that concerns me is this will be our right side of the lines first test against legitimate pass rushers.   Jordan and Davenport are legit.    I think MLF will account for this and use scheme to slow them down and / or use their rush against them with screens and misdirection.

Take the under on total punts 5

34-31 Packers.

I totally expect the same thing with the media.  I am sure they will talk GB down so much that they should just save us the misery and not even get on the plane to NO.   I expect a close and hard fought game but I think the Packers fumble the ball late and the Saints convert it to a TD.

Aints 27 Packers 20

NFL won't want the Saints at 1-2. The strength of the team, which has been the OL, will get flagged no less than 4 times for holding, and slow down the offensive juggernaut that is the Packers.

Still, it won't be enough. And inspired Packers D will remember Drew Brees' stance about kneeling and take out their frustrations sacking him between 3 and 5 times.

Packers 34, Saints 31

I'm going to be concerned any time a team figures out they should probably stick with the run.

Something tells me a Drew Brees led offense won't let that happen so victory.

This is really what it's all about.    San Fran showed the way but so far teams have failed to stay on the path.   3rd n 10, fuckin run it again.

When you fall off a cliff you fall of a cliff. Breeze  looks A LOT like Manning in 2015.   Drew's 41 year old arm isn't going to get any stronger.  Drew wasn’t even making an attempt to throw the ball deep late in the game last nite.

Kamara and Cook are what they need to cover, Brees arm is close to shot, Derek Carr had a good game against the Saints D, assuming Rodgers will even without Adams.  More explosive plays with Jones and Williams, 31 to 21 Packers

Yes.  Certainly you don't think GB will go undefeated this year, right?

NO is coming off a loss and they are at home, in primetime, with a full crowd from what I understand.  They're going to be jacked up to get that win.  This is going to be a tough game for GB.

I have it as a loss.

Fight me.

Add in all the "Brees is showing his age" stories this week, and yeah, I'm fully expecting Brees and that offense to be ready to prove everyone throwing dirt on his grave very premature.

Not saying Pack loses, but I would be shocked if NO doesn't play its best game of the year Sunday night.

"The New Orleans Saints might go into their Week 6 bye having played no games in front of a live audience. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced Friday that the Saints will not be granted permission by the city to host fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for their Sept. 27 game with the Green Bay Packers, ensuring that each of the first four Saints games of 2020 will be played with empty stands."

Rodgers is unspectacular as O-line is porous.

The Wrs can't get open and have a couple of drops.

MLF can't figure out which RB to use and how often.

MLB continues to be a problem.

Packers still win because....well, they're playing the Vikings Lions Saints

I also predict total points in the mid-70s.  It may all come down to whose defense can disguise coverages better.  Both QBs have obviously seen almost every defense that you can imagine, so if you don't disguise your coverages both of them are going to eat the defenses alive (with no crowd noise at all).

Well damn... that’s a huge advantage lost by NO.

Agree, both defenses are likely to give up lots of yards so it could also come down to which defense can "make a play".... a sack that causes a turnover, a DB that jumps a route, etc.

Ham sammiches at high noon.

For the Packers to win this game and negate Alvin Kamara's running ability, the Packers offense will have to be on the field a lot. If ARod and the Packer's O are on the field, Kamara will be on the bench. That's the best way to stop NO's running game, at least until Gute and Co. decide it's time to invest in a few run defenders.
