Their run defense is the number one ranked in the league now. However, my guess is that some of that is due to teams having to play catchup after getting behind. And our run defense is not too shabby either despite sometimes allowing a few long runs when playing pass defense with a light box due to injuries at the cornerback and LB positions. Our focus on defense last week seems to have been on covering the WR's. This week I think its more on limiting their running attack.

They have a very good group of d-backs and with Sean Lee at MLB. I see the keys to the game including limiting Elliott and having Aaron be able to connect in the passing game. Making them play from behind as others have said actually helps our defense. Elliott will get some yards with their good o-line because he runs to creases that soon become holes by the time he gets there. Discipline is needed by the LB's.  One other threat they have is Prescott running the ball. Hard to defend that while limiting their run and passing game. I worry about that.

On our offense I would not be surprised to see more of Ty in the backfield to stress their depth at CB. Also I think its important for our TE's to have a good game because the short pass to move the sticks will become our run game even with TY and Michael in the backfield. They will be all over our WR's and Capers and the players need to find a way to get separation or it will  get ugly. I think we can if we keep working on it play after play. There has been a lot of talk about starting fast. That would be real nice but I think that will be real hard given what I expect to be their gameplan on defense. Instead I expect MM to make "adjustments" when he sees what they do. (Oh, and I will allow him his allotted one bonehead call for the game.)

Sorry, from this picture there's nothing wrong with the play made by Hall. The crown of his helmet is in front of Jordy's body. His facemask is jammed in Jordy's ribs, but if the rule is the crown of the helmet, I just don't see that. In real time I thought it was illegal, but all the stills I've seen show the crown clear of Jordy's ribs. It sucks for us fans, but the only call we could have hoped for was the "defenseless player" rule. Being that close to the sideline, you could argue that Hall should have pushed him, but almost any D player is going to take a hard shot if he can.

"No fine for Leon Hall hit that injured Jordy Nelson

Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson won’t play against the Cowboys this Sunday after he broke at least two ribs last weekend when he took a hit from Giants defensive back Leon Hall.

Hall won’t be playing this weekend either because the Packers routed his club 38-13 at Lambeau Field. He also won’t be paying a fine to the league.

PFT has confirmed with league that Hall was not fined as a result of the hit. NFL rules prohibit “lowering the head and making forcible contact with the crown or ‘hairline’ parts of the helmet against any part” of a defenseless receiver’s body and it appeared that Hall lead with that part of the helmet when making contact with Nelson while the receiver was trying to make a catch.

Hall was not penalized during the game, however, and the league office agreed that Hall’s contact didn’t cross the line into finable territory."

Leon put his helmet down and led with it. Now I believe he thought Jordy would catch the pass clean and thought his helmet was the best tool to try and break that pass up. Jordy went back up with his hands and his ribs took 100% of Leon's helmet. Regardless Leon did what the NFL is (allegedly) trying to stop.

When Cobb went with his all world subtle push to create his 1 yard window on the Hail Mary that was Leon on the recieving end of that push.

Karma works in mysterious ways and on its own timetable. Sometimes it works right damn fast.

About that little push. Some idiot talking head the other day said that was bad for the league because that basically gives WRs a free pass for committing OPI on Hail Mary plays. One of the other guys blasted him about this as it was so subtle, and the defender did not end up on the ground. No one mentioned the blatant OPI from the fail mary, where Taint put Shields on the turf.

Was it Boomer Esiason?

It was Boomer.  He's an idiot.

Blaming Cobb's slight shove is ridiculous.  The Giants had 4-5 guys towards the back of the endzone.  The Giants have nobody to blame but themselves.  Also, if you're pushing for OPI to be called, you better be content with more DPI being called too.  And you don't want DPI calls on Hail Mary's deciding games.

Back to this game: glad to hear Rollins is making progress.  It would be nice to have another full-time CB in the mix.  Wouldn't mind seeing Hyde have a chance to cover Witten.

"It was the Bradshaw run that put the Giants in a position to throw a Hail Mary and put Eli Manning in a position to have enough arm strength to hit Hakeem Nicks who pulled a David Tyree and essentially catch a ball off his helmet. Pretty remarkable stuff"

"The Giants secondary. You've got to get deeper than the deepest guys. The safeties...Leon Hall throttles down at the goaline and Cobb is able to get behind everybody. Eli Apple as well.... that's inexcusable"

Troy calling two Hail Marys in Lambeau. 5 years apart.

Keep it real Troy!!!!!

And those two cherry picked statements amount to what?

Cherry picked statements? Those were Troys color commentary following both plays. You know what's a ****ing riot? Green Bay did exactly what Troy accused of NY of doing wrong.

Troy is an NFC East guy and I think he does a pretty decent job of putting his bias on ice. But when he's off base there's nothing wrong with calling him on it
