Not impressed with Kaaron in the playoffs thatβs for damned sure
Love should not be on the roster next year. Trade up in the draft and a take a chance at someone else or trade for a veteran somewhere.
12, 17, and 18 are gone⦠among many others. You go from back to back to No. 1 Seed to having to completely rebuild the franchise from the ground up with shitty draft position. Going to be a rough 3-5 years, though next year we should be top-5 draft position.
Not all is lost
The Milwaukee Bucks are champions and could repeat!
I had said that this game would not impact Rodgers status as one of the all time greats and I still believe that...and hell, he might go to Denver and win it all..... his stats speak for themselves, he's one of the greats.....but the simple truth is that the banged up guy from eastern Illinois university made plays when they needed them and Rodgers did not.
He owns the Bears and all the other weak sisters in the division. He doesn't own playoff teams.
It is a dilemma. Do you put all your eggs in the Rodgers basket and surround him with unrestricted free agents because you can't pay anyone---he'd get you 2 wins a year against the Bears for a couple more years. I never get tired of that....or do you build on this defense and run game, try to get a dynamic playmaker and get the dreaded 'game manager' QB?

As are #s 2, 29, 55, 59, 85, 89, 91 and as you said numerous others.
The roster is going to take a massive hit.
To take but one example, there is not a single receiver or TE worth a damn who is projected to be on the 2022 roster. Not one.
Trade Aaron for what you can get and let's see Gute's boy go to work.
It cannot be said enough, Rodgers sucked.

Throw in 55, 89, 77, and likely 29.
So 4-13?
It really feels like it's over-over this time. Like 1987 over. Like Randy Wright over.
Might as well blow it up.

The way society is devolving, we might actually be able to Lynch Gute.

I thought we were supposed to #buildbackbetter?

Lynch?
No F'in way, I want constant pictures of Gute in the press box watching his boy Jordan Love "succeed" at Lambeau field (sort of like those Ted GIFS when everyone could tell he was well past his sell by date -- other than Murph of course).
Death by a thousand cuts is always more painful that a quick lynching.
About all the FO negativity- Why would anyone relish in our favorite team performing bad? Todayβs game was ineffably disappointing. There was a lot riding on this yearβs team. Next year will probably be tough. But I will always stand by the Green and Gold.
Before the preseason started, I was excited to see what Love had to offer. Unfortunately, other than a pretty strong arm, he showed very little to get excited about. Hopefully he can figure something out in the offseason or the Pack is in trouble next year.
Trouble..with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pathetic.

No one is. Other teams have been able to make relatively fast turn arounds even on complete rebuilds. This fucking FO running this team will most definitely draw out the pain.
This isn't "relish", it's resignation.

I always stand by the Green and Gold as well.
I just happen to disagree that supporting the FO no matter what they do equates to standing by the Green and Gold.
I am a PACKER fan not a fan of those individuals who happen to currently populate the PACKER'S FRONT OFFICE.
I wanted the Packers to compete for at least 1 Super Bowl during the past 11 years while they had a hall of famer at QB who won 4 MVPs during that time.
That did not happen.
Instead, the Packers have been to just as many Super Bowls as the Vikings, Lions, and Bears since 2011 - ZERO.
The Packers have also developed a well-earned and well-deserved record as underachievers who always choke in the playoffs.
If taking note of and being disappointed of these facts is not standing by the Green and God then I plead guilty.
But I sure as H am not going to blindly support a group of underachievers just because they happen to currently hold a FO position with the team.
I experienced more than enough of that type of blind "back the pack" (no matter how idiotic the front office decisions were) complacency in the 70s and 80s.
@Henry@SteveLuke Well said. We all expected more. I donβt know if the current FO is what we need. The change in HC in 2019 seemed to work. But thereβs a lot of teams that change GM, HC, QB every year and I donβt envy them.
AR said in his presser that he wasn't interested in being part of a "rebuild"
Yeah, but he didnβt say where. π. Maybe he thinks if he stays in wonβt be one. π
To me, that statement shows Rodgers wants the Pack to trade him. This coming year is a rebuild even if Rodgers sticks around. The cap hell they are in pretty much guarantees a downgrade of a roster that was already flawed.
@BrainDed posted:Fuck the NBA.. Thatβs not even basketball. Itβs some strange game where you can run from half court without dribbling.
Euro step
Thatβs the thing with Rodgers. Yes, heβs obviously an incredible talent and gives them the best chance to win. However, as weβve witnessed the last two years if that still isnβt good enough when will it ever be good enough?
You got what you wanted in terms of hosting home playoff games. Gute went out and added 59 and brought back Preston Smith and your buddy Cobb and found a hidden gem in Rasual Douglas. They extended your LT Bak to a massive contract. I could go on and on.
And you win one of three playoff games?
Yes Kevin King screwed the pooch against Tampa and a strong case can be made the special teams lost the game against SF. But what exactly did our all world QB do to put them over the top? I mean, he wasnβt terrible against the Bucs nor was he Tannehill like awful against the Niners. But he wasnβt great either. Not even close.
If you would have told me last year that our defense picked off Brady 3 times and they lose and our defense gives up 6 points and they lose to SF I would have thought you were crazy. But we all need to be open and honest about the fact that Rodgers didnβt contribute nearly enough to win those games.
As much as I think the smart decision for both he and the team would be for him to return the reality is if he does come back they will not have enough money to pay all of their key guys like Adams and Jaire and Z and they might not even be able to retain Campbell and Tonyan and a few other important pieces. This is the problem when you are paying your QB 15-20% of the cap. Thereβs not enough money left to go around.
I have zero excitement looking forward to what Jordan Love can do. But perpetuating the status quo maybe isnβt the right approach either. It simply hasnβt worked. To that extent, Iβd consult with Rodgers and figure out a way to facilitate a trade to Denver to get him what he wants and to get maximum value back in return to speed up the transition. Then maybe you seek out a veteran QB, I donβt know.
What I do know is this team will never have a better chance than they did the last two years and they fell flat on their faces even with 12.
Good points, Tschmack .
Yep well said, but it is the reality of the situation. The Packers are at a crossroads and Gutey has some difficult decisions to make.
Some other positive news
Bob Bostad is being elevated to take Joe Rudolphβs spot on the Badgers football team. For those that can remember, BB was in charge of the OL during their heyday 10-15 or so years ago when they were churning out NFL OL talent year after year.

Sorry, canβt read the article, not gonna pay for it.
In all but one year since Rodgers joined the league, a team with a quarterback not named Rodgers has won the Super Bowl, thus proving it can be done without having one of the best QBs in the league and tying up all that money in one position. Yes, it's more work to assemble such an ensemble of talent instead of relying on excellence at the QB position for 30 years like Green Bay has done. Naively, I thought this was the job of a front office. If the state of special teams is any indication of this ability, it's time to bring in FO people who can build a team instead of relying on a handful of cap breaking stars.
If the end game is to trade Rodgers to the team to get the most back in return I would get creative and also package Adams in that trade. If Rodgers isnβt back thereβs zero chance 17 returns so maybe he can be franchised and dealt to Denver for picks to up the ante in a trade. Getting Adams would allow Denver to part with more younger players like Jeudy and Fant to go along with a haul of draft picks.
Jeudy, Fant, Surtain Jr (to replace Jaire) + 1st and 2nd and 3rd this year and 1st and 2nd and 3rd next year seems about right. Perhaps throw in another younger DL or LB as well.
Not sure any team gives up that to get to the divisional round
You canβt trade Adams.

No offense Blair but Silverstein had this Packer promo piece ready to go to keep the paying JSO online customers on the hook before the playoffs were even announced.
The pro-Pack puff pieces are fine when the paying public has reason to buy the hope you are literally selling.
Gonna be a much harder sell going forward.
Either way the Pack FO will always know they have no more devoted water carrier than Tommy boy.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers can still make it to the Super Bowl if Mike Pence has enough courage.

The Packer's loss can't be to bad. I haven't seen anyone post a video of themselves burning their Packer stock certificate with their Carhartt gear. So there is hope! When will we know our draft position?
