It's about time. I don't want to see the Lions succeed, but those guys ran out of excuses. They went through multiple coaches and saw lots of players come and go. Never understood how they kept surviving.

One move I never get is to fire a GM but then leave in place a HC he may or may not want. I understand at this point in the season, ya, you might as well leave Caldwell there but if the Lions have any brains whomever the GM is should have complete say who that HC is or is not.

 

Same applies to hiring a HC first then a GM. I never got that either...

If the Packers don't figure out a way to get pressure on the QB, Stafford has the talent to light them up. Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate are a very strong duo and Eric Ebron is a decent TE.

 

If you pressure Stafford he turns into Jay Cutler.

 

 

Personnel is a lot better than the record. Problems in the franchise are systemic and go much deeper than Mayhew.

The worst team in football is now a threat to come to GB and beat the Packers.

IIRC Bob Harlan hired Ron Wolf late in a season and Ron spent the time to evaluate Lindy and his people. Didn't need long but that's the concept.

 

Wonder if Ted has already unplugged Eliot's phone and laptop and suspended his cell and Internet service.

@RapSheet: The future beyond 2015 for #Lions QB Matthew Stafford is very much in doubt, as I understand it.

 

@JasonLaCanfora: Next Lions GM will have decision to make on Stafford. Contract is trade-able in '16 from cap perspective. Would be many suitors for him.

 

@AlbertBreer: Lions are out from under his guaranteed money, and he'd be a very valuable trade chip. 

I'm crushed over the Mayhew news. Just crushed. 

I think (well hope) Elliot would know enough to stay away from that schit show.

At this point, I'm thinking some of the wins are going to become losses.

After the firings they've already had they likely need to keep Caldwell from a simple logistics standpoint. Needless to say, around 3:02 pm of week 17 he'll be shown the door.

I wonder how you judge Eliot. He runs a pro personnel department for a team that almost never adds pro personnel.

He's Director of Player Personnel.

 

Considering Wolf's quick rise in the organization I agree with packerboi. That's all we have to go on to judge him.

 

They are still the Lions.

So, the changes have already improved the Lions? They won't lose this week.

You know that owner was convinced that without these moves they would lose on their bye week.

LOL. Maybe if Millen ends up doing a show with Steven A. Smith and Skip Bayless Mayhew can take his job. He'd fit perfectly with those two buffoons.

Didn't this team go 11-5 last year and were a crappy call from beating the Pokes?

Boo-hoo.

Their two best defensive players left or have been out all year (Suh and Levy). Fairley was also a key guy for them and he's gone too.  They still have Ansah, but their DL was outstanding last year and covered up a lot of problems with their DBs.

 

Suh may be a POS personality, but he was the key to that whole defense.

So that's what happened to Jimmy Hoffa.

Eliot Wolf, Green Bay Packers director of pro personnel: The son of Hall-of-Fame general manager Ron Wolf, Wolf will be the hottest name on the GM market this winter. He's just 33 and was promoted to his current post last January, but he knows the division inside and out, he's been a part of a championship organization and he has experience in both pro and college scouting. He would be a home-run hire.

Eliot aint goin nowhere, he knows he is being groomed for this job, tt doesn't have much time left.

Eliot has maybe 5 years (maybe less) to wait & then he has full 100% control over the best organization in pro sports.

 

Or, he can go to the Lions, without 100% control.

 

Which would you choose?

Eliot is going to the St. Louis Cardinals?

 

I'm available...I've got my eyes on 3 wide receivers the Lions can take next year...
