He has his perspective. I donโ€™t doubt his sincerity. But if heโ€™s complicit in the demonization of those who see politics differently than he does, and instead says that if I disagree with him it means Iโ€™m racist, then shame on him. Perhaps Trumpโ€™s a racist... perhaps heโ€™s divisive- but so is telling good people with differing opinions that theyโ€™re racist, that they hate. That theyโ€™re โ€œdeplorablesโ€.

His parents havenโ€™t raised their children any differently than I have mine when it comes to recognizing the value of hard work, compassion, and understanding. I have mixed race children, and my adult sons both serve this country. Their sacrifice is equal or greater than anything described as โ€œsacrificeโ€ in that article.

So I hope that Brogdon does great things both on the basketball court and off it. But I also hope he heeds the warnings of Dr Thomas Sowell:

โ€œIt takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.โ€

Brogdon's interview is getting more exposure in other papers.

You can't argue with his points, they are backed up by data and the Bucks owners are on record agreeing with him. The thing is that this isn't just a Milwaukee problem. It's been 25 years, but back when I lived in Boston, Dee Brown (who had just won the NBA slam dunk contest) got pulled over in a Boston suburb and thrown on the ground with guns drawn at him because an African-American male had reportedly robbed a bank in another suburb several miles away and the police thought was odd a black man was in this wealthier suburb. A couple of years ago, Sterling Brown gets tased for parking in a handicap spot at Walgreens at 2 AM (on an empty street) so he can run in and get something.

I like the fact that Brogdon is willing to talk about this in a calm, measured manner and ownership has encouraged players to speak out about it.
