I think they like Leonard. No clue if the dude can play well after the long layoff, but the Bucks had other options and chose Myles

from The Athletic and Eric Nehm

With recent injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, Leonard will provide depth to the Bucks’ big man rotation, but he was not the only free agent big man on the market. The Bucks chose Leonard and Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer explained why they felt comfortable doing so, despite Leonard’s incident.

β€œI think Meyers has been really, really diligent and conscious about engaging with the Jewish community, acknowledging that there’s no place for antisemitism or antisemitic slurs or any kind of hate speech,” Budenholzer said. β€œThe genuineness with how he’s talked to us about it, he’s talked publicly, we feel like he’s a person of high character that has owned and tried to make this an educational opportunity for himself and others. So, we’re hopeful that he’s in a good place and we want and seek out people with high character and we think Meyers is someone that fills that.”

Now that Leonard has signed with the Bucks, his ten-day contract will expire on March 3. At that time, the Bucks will have to decide if they want to sign Leonard to another contract or let him become a free agent again.

Meyers Leonard is an emergency plan if something happened to Brook Lopez.  While he’s not close to Brook defensively, he does have size and can step out and hit shots.  He’s a legit 7 feet guy and is 39% from 3 over his career. He’s also got playoff experience.

Mamu (like Nwora) is the odd man out.  He’s not athletic enough for a big man and he’s a bit undersized at 6’8.”

As for Dragic, I wanted him a couple of years ago and he could have helped them big time last year to ease some of the scoring issues they had after Middleton went down.   He’s a bit older now, but he’s got more size than Carter and he’s scrappy as a player.  Unlike Carter, he would actually get playing time against Boston.
