I would thing any DC worth a **** would want to be somewhere that gives a longer than 2 year opportunity.

Any DC worth a $hit knows he is good enough to earn that opportunity.

As much as I like to bitch about MM, there are only a handful of current HC's that I would want instead of him.

That said, that doesn't mean there isn't another Sean McVay out there who just needs a chance.    I don't know who that is, hopefully the new GM does.

MM's staff housecleaning continues:  Now Edgar Bennett and Alex Van Pelt are out.

"Van Pelt's contract expired after this season, and it was not renewed. Bennett was stripped of his offensive coordinator title, and there was a chance he could have gone back to coaching a position, but that's not expected to happen."

MM knows he is on the hotseat.....

Same here.  IF they make the move I say stay away from the college coaches.  It just seems more often than not it doesn't work.

I know I am in the minority but I still think finishing the roster upgrade is more important at this point than changing the HC.

I'm guessing conversation would be quite different today if AJones doesn't fumble...  but this team is not good enough to overcome mistakes.  and then you get frustrated watching a creative offense go against our we do what we do offense.   and it sure seems like it's time for a change.

Yeah, it's taken me a bit but I agree Tdog. I think MM is a good coach who has not adapted his game as time has gone on. He is still running the same offense without new wrinkles as he did in his first year. It was good, fresh, and excellent then. Since then, the game has changed but MM is stuck in 2010. I believe we have players, good players, that should be doing better. Our WRs can compete with almost anyone. ESB, MVS, Adams, et al, are impressive.

I like how the D is rounding out; even the rookies look like they know what they're doing. And even last night when Pettine had guys dropping all over the field and a dip-schit getting kicked out, he still managed to make it respectable.

In contrast, MM couldn't come up with something to crack the Pats' D despite an average group at best. He didn't challenge their secondary at all and once again, Jones is the partial man.

Time for fresh blood -- this team is not that far off.

A little perspective. This level of mediocrity with a HOF QB is unacceptable.

I watched the Rams-Saints yesterday and Sean Payton was hired at the exact same time but like BB he has worked to stay fresh and just watching what he does with athletes like Taysom Hill puts MM to shame.

He's done. Pull the plug.

A little more perspective, Rodgers did not play for a half of one of those seasons and has been hurt for most of this.  That said....they are mediocre.

I think we can all agree that one of the biggest reasons they have been average is the defense.   As well as keeping Capers around for 3 years too long.

To me it isn't the offense that upsets me with MM, it is the defense and never getting things fixed on that side of the ball.

Last night there were so many great, well designed plays by the Patriots. Some gained only a little. But they set up the sucker plays later. I've been a McCarthy supporter but the difference in effective creativity is stark.

Yes, there were years in there that if the D were even half effective, another Superb Owl was heading to GB. Dom and Slocum cost us several victories. That said, for the past couple years it's been a team breakdown. The only part I see on the upswing is the D under Pettine. I see so many good parts: WR, DB, DL, RB, QB. It's a waste of talent due to coaches.

You could tell the defense what play is called, and if your offense wins their 1:1 across the board, you can be successful. Unfortunately, that is not putting your players in position to succeed.

Saw an article somewhere about MM being a perfect fit in Cleveland. Another talented team that under achieves. He can slide in and not miss a beat.

it will tell a great deal if we move on and what team he does land with.  it will say what state they are in and what they intend to do...

I said I would reserve Judgement on if he should go or not until after the season.   I lied.   I don't care if they win out, he has to go.

I'm actually in favor of just ripping the band-aid off now and rolling with Philbin as the interim.     Let the league know we are hiring and start the search now.   I don't see any downside from that.

Also, put me in the Josh McDaniels camp.    The man took a team QB'd by Tim Teebow to the playoffs.    He has some warts, but I'll assume he has learned from those experiences.

Good point, having a young super talented offensive guy never works out.

I mean look how poorly it worked out for *checks notes* The Los Angeles Rams.

No, that was John Fox. He was the coach of that 2011 Broncos team with Tebow. Does that mean you want Fox now since he was the one coaching that team?

He may have learned or he may be polished by being back under BB's oversight.

I read an article in the offseason about a guy GB currently has on staff that is highly thought of as an offensive innovator.  Young guy, can't remember his name or position.  Maybe Raih?  Too far down the ladder at this point.

I don’t know why anybody would sign McDaniel after that stunt he pulled on the Colts.

I’ve had enough of “Packer People” at HC. If lack of integrity and sleaze brings some championships, bring it on.

BB himself flopped his first time around as a HC. Some guys learn from mistakes.
