If Cain really is injured, but can still play maybe you drop Jackson and add Tyrone Taylor just in case Cain's injury gets even worse.

It's insane this team won 89 games with as many things working against them as there were.  I tend to agree that come playoff time, I would expect the Brewers' many warts to be exposed.

That said, the fact that this team cobbled together 89 wins shows they have a certain amount of grit and toughness that you can't completely rule out the Brewers finding a way to at least make someone more talented overall sweat a little bit.

CC should be a strong candidate for manager of the year.

How many times has  playoff team not have a single starting pitcher pitch enough innings to qualify for the ERA title (162 innings are required)?

No pitcher on the staff won more than 11 games.

What a day kinda feels like skipping a day in school.                                                  10 pitchers.     3 starters 7 bullpenners ??    no Fat A.                                                                                     A stat to impress your friends: According to FanGraphs, the Nationals had a season-low 22.2% chance to make the playoffs on May 23 before going 74-38 the rest of the way to take the NL's top wild-card spot. But that's nothing compared to the Brewers, who had a 5.6% chance of making the playoffs as recently as Sept. 5 before an 18-2 stretch paved their way to the postseason.

Perusing a number of media sites and articles today and the vast majority of them give Milwaukee little to no chance of beating Washington and moving on.

Personally, the wild card is tailor made for a team like the Brewers because they could rise up in a one game and everyone on the roster is available.   CC can do what he does best which is tinker and keep the other team guessing.  The more unpredictable you are the more that favors a team like Milwaukee in a game like this.

It won’t be easy facing guys like Scherzer or Strasburg or even Corbin but if Milwaukee can get to MS early then it puts Washington in an unusual and uncomfortable position.  As good as those other two pitchers are they are starters, not relievers.  Who knows how effective they would be coming off the bench for an inning or two?   On the flip side, that’s what the Brewers do.

  Super news, about Cain.

If nothing else, Woodruff seems like the kind of guy who welcomes these sort of challenges.  Maybe the only issue with him is he hasn't racked up many innings lately so the Brewers may give him a pretty quick hook.

I'm guessing we see Woodruff, Suter, Pomeranz, and Hader?  Maybe a guy like Claudio for 1 batter in the right scenario?

I think they'll hang in there but I certainly see why the Nats are favored.  They have the talent and health advantage.
