Very very strange story and I don't know what to think or feel about it all.  The documentary didn't really change that for me.  So much blame on everyone, even Manti (as callous as that may make me seem).  The documentary makes it sound like "catfishing" was new but it really wasn't.  A show called "Catfish" was on MTV two years before this, meaning that catfishing was very much mainstream well before this Manti Teo thing (which happened in 2012).  Sorry, but you need to be careful on the internet.  That wasn't new.

Just a weird, sh*tty situation that happened.  Weird as it is, I blame Deadspin the least.  Deadspin had to break this story - you can't say this was not major sports news.  The reaction from some talking heads was terrible but that's a whole different story - they've always sucked which is why I don't watch/listen to those shows.  And I don't really blame Notre Dame - yes they screwed up in burying this until after the national championship but I understand why and I don't think they did in a calculating way.  I think they did want to help Manti and bringing this up before the biggest game of his life very much could have made things worse.  Now it didn't but the thought isn't that outlandish.

The most heartbreaking part of this was when he "listened to God" and ignored his gut and went to Notre Dame instead of USC.  Trust your mind and your gut.
