Music to any Packer fans ears...

From Packer Report:

For years, former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke of the need to run the football. This season, no team ran the ball less frequently than the Packers.

That’s going to change under new coach Matt LaFleur.

“Certainly, we’re going to have a foundation in place of how we run our system,” LaFleur said in a side session with print reporters following Wednesday’s introductory news conference. “I think it’s a system that’s really predicated on building the run game with the pass game. We like to have plays, we like to say plays that start off looking the same but are different, plays that play off of plays. It lessens the predictability of what you’re trying to do, and it keeps a defense more off-balance.”

Yes, a breath of fresh air is badly needed at 1265 since about 2013, quite honestly. Yes I know they made 2 NFC CG's in 2014 & 2016 - Don't remind me about 2014. FML

Ugh I refuse to even think about that game again.  Kind of in the same territory as when we lost the SB to Elway.

Anyhow, I think that the breath of fresh air around 1265 is going to be just what this team has needed.  New offensive philosophy, keeping a very solid DC, showing Zook the door, Raih the door, and expressing what I feel is an honest  desire to actually run the ball.  It may be my green and gold glasses but I am starting to think we won't recognize this team the next time we see them on the field.

I thought there was a bit of a good housecleaning last year.....yes or no??

Hard to tell if Hackett is a crappy OC or if he's just constantly been dealt a crappy hand...

Starting QBs he's been given:

  • EJ Manuel
  • Thaddeus Lewis
  • Jeff Tuel
  • Kyle Orton
  • Blake Bortles
  • Cody Kessler

That's a pretty rough list of dingbats. They were 3rd in points in 2017 even with Bortles at QB and 1st in rushing, but terrible in all areas every other year.

Also Nathaniel Hackett is the son of Paul Hackett, who was Mike McCarthy’s mentor.

I think he was actually referring to the players in leadership roles. I.e. Rodgers and crew. As well as certain coaches.

Not specifically, or even at all, himself and Gute.

He may have been referring to the players, but I took it that he and Gutekunst may not have been as tuned in... not that he intended to infer that.

Hope he passes on Hackett.  He sucked with the Bill's and with Syracuse when a college coordinator.
